Gripping and suspenseful! A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. The tension builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. Worthy of your TBR list.

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book from in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Kirstie Rawlings hears voices through her daughter's baby monitor, racing upstairs to find Daisy unharmed and alone. The police do not seem to take Kirstie seriously and neither does her husband. Worried that she has no one she can trust, will how will Kirstie handle her feelings of danger?

I had high hopes for The Child Next Door, based on the premise put forth. New parents have anxieties on the best of days, so Kirstie's paranoia was in keeping with her real-life counterparts. The author did take it a little too far, as it was very repetitive and sluggish in the middle. The last few pages were a complete disappointment and ruined the book for me. Overall, The Child Next Door was a missed opportunity by the author, especially regarding the lack of depth to the story. For these reasons, I would not recommend it to other readers.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of The Child Next Door by NetGalley and the publisher. The choice to review this book was entirely my own.

I started this book at bedtime and should not have done that !!!! Lol!!!!! Read well into the night. Good plot and writing. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.

THE CHILD NEXT DOOR by Shalini Boland is a psychological thriller that the reader will find difficult to put down and will keep you guessing throughout. A mother’s worst nightmare, having to deal with the thought of someone trying to take her newborn little girl.

This was one of those books that you wished that you hadn't started at bedtime as it was one that you just couldn't put down.
I was feeling so sorry for the mum and was getting anxious along with her!
The writing was great and grabbed my attention.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.

Once again Shalini Boland has written a book that keeps you confused right up until the last minute. Kirstie Rawlings is awakened by a strangers voice on her baby monitor saying “Let’s take the baby and go” she runs to the child’s room to find the baby fast asleep and no one else in sight.
The police are sceptical, her husband is thinking she is starting to lose her marbles and Kirstie cannot trust anyone around her including her neighbours. This book really kept you turning the pages it was fast paced with so many twists and turns and the ending just knocked my socks off. Fantastic.

I'm so glad I got around to reading this book because WOW! It was awesome. As I have said in other reviews of Shalini Bland's books, I love her writing style. She has a way of drawing the reader right into the drama as if you are IN THE BOOK. Powerful and creepy at the same time.
This book had it all: lies, deceit, a ton of paranoia, untrusting husband, weird neighbors, many twists and OH THAT ENDING!
I honesty couldnt guess the ending.
5 stars!

Thank you to #NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my free copy in exchange for my honest review. Also, posting on Goodreads and Amazon.

A woman overhears people talking about taking a baby on her daughter’s baby monitor. She runs to the bedroom to find her baby alone and safe in her crib. The remainder of the book is spent trying to figure out who the baby-nappers are or if they even exist. Even her husband is doubting her. She becomes obsessed with finding the people she heard on the monitor and paranoid about the safety of her baby. The book started off good, then fizzled for the majority of it. There were times I felt myself getting board since the main chunk of the book was repetitive. I did enjoy the endin which saved this book from being a two star rating. However, the epilogue was a bit too much to throw in at the end.

Bloody brilliant! A great thriller, and while I was reading this, I had no clue what was going on, who was the 'baddie' was Kirstie losing it??? What a rollercoaster of a book!

I found this slightly slow to start with, but I'm glad I stuck with it, really gripping and tense and so well written, feels very real.

Kirstie Rawlings is woken one night by a crying baby, she races to check her daughter to hear a chilling voice over the baby monitor saying "let's take the child and go". Instantly and understandably she fears for her daughter. She's the only baby on their small road...does someone want to take her little girl? As she becomes more paranoid she realises her neighbours and friends and even her husband are hiding secrets...but some secrets are more horrifying and dangerous than she could ever have guessed.

I looked back at my last review of a Shalini Boland book and at the time credited her with pulling me out of a reading slump. Whilst I haven't been suffering that this time it's fair to say my last couple of reads have left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Well its Boland to the rescue again. This novel is filled with genuine tension and twists that had this reviewer floored. It was impossible to put this down, so much so I was still reading at midnight last night despite having to be up at half four. This has to be one of the books I have enjoyed the most so far this year. I strongly recommend reading this novel.

Wow. This book plays on all your emotions as a mother. It’s claustrophobic, terrifying and real. The paranoia, fear and dread are tangible. I’m looking forward to writing a full review for The Glass House, but couldn’t wait to say how much I enjoyed it (it enjoy is the right word.)

Full review to be published this coming month on The Glass House

Thanks to netgalley for another killer read by a gifted author. I just finished The secret mother and I could not wait to start this one. The book was very well written, gripping from the beginning and worth every second you can't wait to finish it! Recommended!!

This is a good modern thriller. One night Kirstie hears a baby crying and voices, on her baby monitor. However it's not her child. She can't find out where the baby is and starts to feel as though someone is watching her. I did find that Kirstie's suspicions became slightly out of control but the story ends quite well with all questions answered.

Wow, what a chilling novel!😱 As a mother of 3 this novel had me terrified but on the edge of my seat. It took awhile for the pace to catch up though with this novel but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it!😀
