This was an entertaining read. However, a lot of information spread itself into confusion. The boy-girl high school angst between characters and explanations of “reasons why” and the family characters with their “reasons why” didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the read, but I did find myself ignoring a lot of the confusing details. I thought Sloane a well fleshed out character. It is fun read for YA!

An excellent YA thriller centered around the WITSEC program. Highly recommended for teen collections.

Ok wow, this was not the type of thriller that I was expecting, but in a good way!!

Y’all know that I’m a sucker for a good thriller so when The Disappearance of Sloane Sullivan appeared on my radar, I was super excited to read it! It sounded awesome plus I had already begun to hear great things about it!
.
There’s not really a whole lot that I can say without giving things away and I do not want to do that because it will ruin everything so let’s just say that it was a really solid thriller! I did guess some stuff pretty early on, but there were still quite a few surprises!
.
Definitely pick this one up if you are a fan of the thriller genre!

This books starts very slowly, but once it picks up speed, it is quite good. Sloane and Mark Sullivan are the assumed names of two people in the Witness Protection Program. Sloane, a high school senior, yearns to make friends and fit in. Mark protects her like a father. However, someone from Sloane’s former life attends high school with her, and when a photo of her hits social media, it appears she and Mark have been discovered and they’ll have to run again. Many twists and turns take the reader through mob violence with a satisfying ending. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Sloane Sullivan is not your average teenager. She’s become a master of blending in and going unnoticed after years of being in the witness protection program. Now however Sloane can see the light at the end of the tunnel when her handler Mark has promised that this will be her last identity change and there will be no more running after the men she’s hidden from have gone to jail.

With only a couple months left until Sloane is released from the program she begins her time in a new town and new school with hope for the first time in years. That is until Sloane is faced with a friend from her past and struggles with the dilemma of coming clean and running yet again or trying to remain anonymous.

While The Disappearance of Sloane Sullivan by Gia Cribbs is a young adult thriller I would warn die hard thriller fans that this one is a very slow build with a lot of the first half reading a lot like a young adult contemporary. Sloane enters what she hopes to be her last days of hiding by attending a new school, making friends and getting close to the boy she had to leave behind from her past all the while slowly showing readers what led Sloane to that point in her life.

Now I’m normally the first to complain of a slow build but the contemporary side and the look into her years in witness protection were engaging enough I didn’t notice it took nearly seventy percent of the book to racket up the action and thrills. I did have the thought in the back of my mind if Sloane recognizes Jason he probably recognized her but I let it ride and enjoyed what was going on regardless. When the action began it was a roller coaster ride until the end that was well worth the wait too. I would say if a fan of young adult thrillers and contemporary this would be certainly worth picking up.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
