WOW... this was so much more than the young adult book I was expecting! The main character Comet, was written with just depth to her character! She really made the book for me.

I really loved this book. The main character, Comet was fabulous. She is smart, level-headed, read a lot of books, dresses very uniquely (I even googled the shoe brand she favors to check them out) and write poetry. Her parents didn't really want a child so they don't pay much attention to her, they are in their own world of artists, their chosen careers. Comet falls in love from afar, with the new American boy at school, Tobias. He is cool, relaxed, confident and cocky, and also falling in with the wrong crowd. When Tobias and Comet get paired together for a project, they begin to spend time together and become friends. She learns so much more about him and his life and taht he is more than meets the eye. Many circumstances are NOT in their favor including their friends support, their families (Tobias's cousin is trying to pull him into the underworld of drug use/selling) yet they manage to form a solid relationship based on friendship and love and they really complete each other. This is a beautiful story about love and how when you love someone, you re able to endure countless insults and bullying and the small-mindedness of others regardless because of how you feel. Tobias and Comet have their ups and downs but stick it out and their story is well worth reading! A fantastic book! Loved it! Also loved the Scottish diction as they lived in a small town in Scotland. A little hard to decipher for me, but really added to the story!
