I just love reading the collaboration of stories between mother and daughter, Lisa and Francesca. The way the stories are laid out; it's always a great comparison to how events and experiences can be seen through different eyes as a mother a daughter. And always, always laugh out loud funny! I constantly find myself saying, "yes, that's me!" or "I'm so glad I'm not the only one". I just love their relationship with each other and their sense of adventure together. Their outlook is really no holds barred and honest and I would just love to run into these two on one of their adventures! Between the trouble with Spanx, loving on their doggies, sitting at the kids table at Christmas, and their love for Mother Mary and her inordinate affect on their lives, you will find love in your heart for this light heartened collection of essays and the authors! #netgalley

"We take real life and make it funny."--Lisa Scottoline

Philadelphia lawyer turned courtroom/thriller novelist Lisa Scottoline has also been writing "true stories and confessions." I thought it was about time I read one of her humor books, which she co-authors with her daughter Francesca Serritella. I picked up I See Life Through Rose'-Colored Glasses through NetGalley.

My husband and I began reading Scottoline's novels for their Philadelphia locale. We kept reading for her characters and plotlines. I followed her on social media and discovered her humor writing. I looked forward to that laugh-out-loud moment her posts always brought.

Like the snake in the toilet news story that had her horrified. She writes, "Now, this is where I reveal that I go to the bathroom to pee approximately thirty-five times a day. Seventeen of those are at night." The only thing worse worrying about finding snakes when you lift the toilet seat lid is, well, there is nothing worse.

Scottoline's 'true stories' are written in her own voice, with a wallop of self-depreciation and a no-holds-barred admittance of the plight of being a woman 'of a certain age' and the indignities of aging. The stories "chronicle our lives" as mother and daughter she writes, looking "at the upside of ups and downs."

Her daughter Francesca writes about being a 21st c thirty-something female in NYC. I loved her "Can You Hear Me Now?" about her mother's struggle with technology--WiFi, phones, Face-Timing. Yep. We have a thirty-something son who we rely on as our personal technology service rep.

"The Ad That Stole Christmas" is about a Match.com ad makes singles feel bad about, well, being single during the holidays. But as her mother knows, the worst thing is not ending up alone, it is ending up with people who make you feel alone.

Scottoline is an animal lover and I enjoy seeing her rescued dogs laying on quilts on the couch. "Animals make us human" she states. "Lint rollers can only do so much," Scottoline admits, and the evidence is apparent on their clothing.

Oh, I do know about that. Our Shiba Inus shed 9 months out of the year, and the other three they exploded fur. We did not have dust bunnies, but dust puppies, and they rolled on the hardwood like tumbleweeds. I once found my dachshund's wiry hairs woven into my brassiere. Francesca writes about deciding to cut her dog's hair herself, which she discovers is not for the faint-hearted or neatnick.

The stories are brief and I like reading them one a day, like a vitamin pill, a daily laugh or chuckle to maintain good health.

I received a free ebook from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

I love Lisa Scottoline! I have read most of her books and I am a big fan, although I am new to Francesca’s writing. In the introduction, it is said that reading this book will make you feel like you’re on vacation, and that is it exactly! I read it slowly over a few weeks, while also reading other books, and it’s been a perfect escape. I also have grown daughters and it is so fun to read both the mother’s and the daughter’s stories. Highly recommended!!

Howling with laughter as I read this book. The subject matter of Lisa Scottoline is normally serious and emotional so I was totally unprepared for the hilarious side of her. Reminiscent of Erma Bombeck and Nora Ephron, Lisa and her daughter, Francesca Serritella share their thoughts, lives, mistakes, body images, dating, marriages, pets, etc in guffaw, belly laugh fashion. I could not select a favorite if I had to. I love the mother daughter aspects and viewpoints. I so want to be friends with these lovely women and have a cup of coffee... or rose’. Thank you @stmartinspress for the ARC. #netgalley #lisascottoline #francescaserritella

This book was good, entertaining and certainly funny at times. However, it also didn’t keep my interest all the way through the book. This book is made up of a bunch of small stories (true to Lisa and her daughters life) that are very entertaining and funny at times, but this book also lost my interest in some of the small stories. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book, that is sure to make you LOL at times. It’s a very fun read. I’m typically suspense and romance, but I really enjoyed this story too. The 4 stars is only because I lost interest a few times. This would be a perfect book for a day that your needing a laugh or just need a little lift. This book will do it for you. :) enjoy!

The real life and unique adventures of Lisa and her daughter Francesca.
Some tales are more amusing than others.
I definitely related more to Francesca’s stories, she’s around my age and has a more down to earth personality than Lisa.
Lisa is a wild woman lol I like how everything can be an adventure to them. Anything could be a story. They see a light side to life, a humor even in hard times. I always respect that.
But I didn’t get super interested in most of the stories.
I definitely enjoyed Francesca’s story about breaking up with her boyfriend because he wasn’t nice enough to her dog. And another story about realizing he boyfriend was angry at her because of how he ate her birthday cake.

Light reading. Some cute stories, some funny, some not for me.

I got to read an early edition from NetGalley.

This was a cute series of vignettes, but I found it to be a little hit or miss. Some were laugh-out-loud funny, but others felt like they were trying too hard (especially from Lisa's side). I loved the insights from Francesca on 30-something single life / dating, though, and wish I could read a book entirely by her!

Lisa Scottoline and her daughter Francesca Serritella have written another book with hilarious, funny, and real life stories. The thing that is so wonderful about this book is that most mothers and daughters can relate to most of the stories they tell. Their stories are entertaining because they are steeped in real life relationships and actual situations. It is so easy to lose yourself in the wonderful, funny stories that Lisa and Francesca share with their readers. I have been a huge fan of Scottoline's books for years and now I am a huge fan of her books with her daughter. I See Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses is another classic hit for Scottoline and and Serritella.

Yet another fantastic read from Lisa and Francesca. I love reading this mother daughter tag team as they weave their tales of real life and real laughs together. Honestly it's refreshing, wet your pants funny at times and makes us laugh at ourselves knowing we're not the only ones out there that these things happen to! They take us along with them as they look, live and relate to us real life via their eyes. It's a not to be missed book. I look forward to being able to read these two any chance I get.
What a treat. Every woman out there needs a good laugh and this book is just the ticket!
4.5

This review is dedicated to Ruby. Corgis are my favorite, and she was my favorite out of all of Lisa Scottoline's dogs. Yes - I have a favorite. I have read a handful of Lisa and Francesca's compilation books and feel as though I am unofficially a member of their family. I laughed along with Lisa's stories of aging and coming to terms with it. I nodded along with stories of Francesca's break-ups. I enjoyed the stories about all of the animals. I teared up when Mother Mary passed away. And now Ruby? Tugging my heartstrings!

I highly recommend this book, and the series as a whole, for all fans of Lisa Scottoline's books, for all moms (both single and betrothed) and for anyone who enjoys reading small snippets of the life of a mom and daughter with their lives intertwined in a way that I hope I can achieve with my daughter.

Thank you to Goodreads, St. Martin's Press, Lisa Scottoline, and Francesca Serritella for the Advance Reader Copy I won through a Goodreads Giveaway!!!! First let me say right before winning the giveaway someone at work asked does anyone ever win Goodreads Giveaways and said YES because I had won one before so thank you for the opportunity to read this.

I love Lisa's and Francesca's books. I bought Best Friends, Occasional Enemies: The Lighter Side of Life as Mother and Daughter for my mom for her birthday because I thought she would relate to Lisa, so it is very exciting for me to receive an Advance Reader Copy of I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses.

I dove right into the book and felt like I was among friends discussing the trials and tribulations of life and being a woman, though I do not envy Francesca and being single and dating. At this point if something were to happen to my husband, not that I am wishing anything would happen, I would go Lisa's route and have a ton of pets and worry about my daughters. I do not have a Thing One or Thing Two but I love Lisa's references to them because I imagine 2 faceless (and headless) bodies with the red shirts that say Thing One and Thing Two and every reference no matter how minor makes me laugh.

There is so much about this book I loved and I will go back and reread it again, though maybe not from start to finish, which is the beauty of this series of books. You can read the chapters that most apply to how you feel and how your day is going. It's like a Choose Your Own Adventure book for adults (am I the only one that loved Choose Your Own Adventure books way more than I should have?). Anyway, be careful where you are reading. I was reading this while waiting for to pick up my daughter at school and was laughing hysterically at the chapter "A Woman With a Plan." Needless to say I got some strange looks from people going in and out of the high school and they went wide around my car.

This book wasn't all laughs, though. I follow Lisa and Francesca on social media (and you should too) so I feel I have gotten to know their pets quite well and I have read about Ruby's degenerative myelopathy and even though I knew Ruby would eventually go downhill, I was sorry to hear about her passing. I had read the article online when Lisa wrote it but it still made me sad to read it again, though I am glad Ruby has Mother Mary because they are really two sides of the same coin; small but mighty.

I recommend (and will continue to recommend) this series of books to any woman looking for a fun and good read. There is something for every woman in I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses and I bet you will see yourself (or your mother or your sister or aunt, best friend, and so on) more than once as you read I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses. Pull up a chair, preferably at the beach or beside a pool, slather on the sunscreen, grab a glass of your favorite vino and enjoy I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses by Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella. Cheers to life and being a woman!

Another essay/column collection from the mother daughter duo - Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella. This mother daughter duo does a column in the Philadelphia newspaper and after reading most of the books, it makes me want to subscribe just to read them live as they are coming out.

These stories are about everything from motherhood, to being single in NYC to loss and these stories have made me cry and completely laugh out loud. It would be hard to find a woman who can't relate to a story or two in the book and even the ones that I don't relate to make me laugh because I can picture my mom, sister or a friend who the story reminds me of!

There isn't much to say about this specific collection over the ones I have read; they are perfect to throw into a beach bag for the summer. The stories are 3-5 pages, so you can easily read this and put it down, its just a great summer time book of stories.

I was drawn to the cover of this book and thought for sure I would love it. I love all books by Lisa Scottoline and this book is made of short stories by her and her daughter. This book fell short of keeping me entertained. It just didn't hold my interest. DNF at 20%. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.

This was the first book I've read from this mother/daughter duo and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I don't normally read short stories or essay books, but wanted a fun and light read for the weekend. This definitely fit the bill! Every essay was filled with love and humor and I really felt like I got to know them through their stories, even though I haven't read any of the other 8 books in this series. They talk about pets, dating, gardening, family, aging and everything in between. I was able to relate to both women, since I am in between them in age. It was interesting to read Francesca's point of view to remember where I've been and Lisa's point of view to see when I'm going. I can't wait to read more from these women and look forward to getting to know them better.

I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses was laugh-out-loud funny. The mother-daughter duo keeps readers turning the pages with their honest and comical take on life, love, pets, and family. This is the latest book in a series of short vignettes, but easy to follow along with, even if it's the first book in the series that you've read- like me. Several of the short stories were so hilarious that I had to read them aloud to my husband.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I love a book that makes me laugh out loud. This series is the best! These two women are real, funny, raw and 100 percent relatable! Kick back, relax and just enjoy pure fun. Fantastic!

As always, Lisa Scottoline and her daughter Francesca Serritella address some of the oddities and uncertainties of life with humor, sarcasm, wit, and intelligence. They speak of being pet owners and how obsessive we can be (yes, myself included!), of aging, gracefully or not so much so. They address dating - or not, and so many other topics. Sometimes the sharp edged humor hides real truths that really hit close to home. Each year I look forward to reading their collection of essays, and I am always sorry when I am finished - anxious for the next installment.

I am grateful to Lisa and Francesca for becoming a part of an annual ritual I look forward to, and I am grateful for NetGalley for the opportunity to read the stories in advance in exchange for a review. I don't want to wish my life away, but I am looking forward to next years collection already!

If you're not reading this series of books, you should be! Scottoline and Serritella share stories of their lives in a humorous, relatable way, and each of their books always manages to make me laugh out loud. With Serritella come the trials of a single girl living in New York, and with Scottoline come the adventures of a divorcee in her sixties. Even though I don't share the same life experiences, I can always find something about their stories that speaks to me.

Definitely recommend all of these novels!

Fun little quips written by mother and daughter which are good for a laugh or a brief distraction. Each story is short and sweet and the book is perfect for a quick read or distraction from the day.
