Otherworldly Encounters: Evidence of UFO Sightings and Abductions by Nomar Slevik is a book that explores the mysterious and often frightening world of extraterrestrial phenomena. The author, a seasoned investigator and researcher, presents a collection of true stories of unexplained events that occurred in the Northeast region of the United States, where UFO activity is reportedly high.

Ok read. Author was too self patronizing for my taste. This for me, took away immensely from the book. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

This is a collection of sightings and unusual happenings. Some of the stories were okay, while some of the stories were a little too out there for me. What bothered me the most about this title was how the author kept telling me to "refer to my other book" or "watch this on youtube" or "look this up online". I just want to read the book. I don't have his other title to refer too and I don't have my phone handy to get online. These parts of the book made this a disappointment for me. I am sure that those who like UFO stories might find a few they like here.

Otherworldly Encounters gives voluminous antidotal evidence of aliens among us.

From mysterious flying objects to face-to-face encounters with aliens, this book has it all. Focusing on the author’s experience as the Maine State Director of MUFON (Mutual UFO Network, it reports claims from 1645-2017. The book has a few photos but frequently references online sources. It also mentions Hanger 1 on the History Channel produced by MUFON.

Otherworldly Encounters definitely will make the reader think. It is a good compilation of short UFO accounts that can be researched further online.

Bottom line: I assume that our government is hiding many things from its citizens. There has to be a reason that every president’s hair goes white almost immediately after taking office regardless of their age. Look at Obama! Is it aliens? Is it stealth weaponry? Is it time travelers from our future after nuclear winter has enlarged their eyes and made their skin gray? Are Hollywood movies, like Men in Black and Close Encounters, made intentionally to confuse the actual sightings that are reported with fiction? Probably many, if not all, are true. You owe it to yourself to read this book if you believe in the possibility of even one being true. Just to see the overwhelmingly similarity of the accounts. 4 stars!

Thanks to Llewellyn Publications and NetGalley for an advanced copy.

I am a very open-minded person but have never ventured into reading about UFO's/aliens etc, until now. I know there are many things that we do not understand in this world, however, I am undecided as to whether there are such things as "aliens." That said, the notion that there could be other life out there in this vast and expansive universe in which we live used to be deemed preposterous decades ago, now though many scientists, physicists and astronomers believe there could be other forms of life out there after the discovery of a plethora of "earth-like" planets with the requisite environment to harbour life.

Nomar Slevik is a long-time ufologist and paranormal investigator and although he is clearly of the view that UFO's and aliens exist he does provide exceptional balance and fairness when assessing the different stories throughout this book. In "Otherworldly Encounters" Slevik has compiled together all of the research he and his colleagues carried out in order to provide us with the detailed descriptions of various encounters that took place in the state of Maine, United States.

I was actually rather pleasantly surprised at how much I absolutely loved reading this! I raced through it! It usually takes me longer to get through a nf book but this read much like a novel and was so easy to get into. I was gripped from the first few pages until the last few - engrossing, engaging, exciting and unpredictable - I never knew just what the next story was going to be about!

I was very appreciative of the extra information Slevik provided to supplement the reading material. He recommends places to visit on the net to see videos, pictures, or more elaborate versions of a certain encounter. I liked the structure a lot - each different chapter disclosing one story or multiple events that happened to the same person.

Whether UFO's and extraterrestrals exist exist is up for debate but I enjoyed this immensely and have already acquired his previous book on the same topic, as a result. I hope Slevik continues to write on this subject as I would welcome more titles of a similar nature. I understand that it would be impossible to release a book every year etc as I can imagine that the amount of research that goes into a work such as this takes a long time.

A fantastic read for both believers and the curious. It definitely deserves the full five stars, im my opinion. I couldn't have enjoyed it more than I did. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to Llewellyn Publications for an ARC. I was not required to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

So interesting and exciting. Having encounters with other beings is something I really love reading about. There were many encounters that were at first were thought to be ghosts, but usually it turned out to be a being or an object from another place. The men in black were nothing like the ones in the movie. I don't think I think I would want to meet them. The stories were from people from all walks of life. As Mulder would way "I want to believe". I received an eARC from Net Galley for a honest review.

"Believers in the paranormal are truly attuned to their surroundings. What is unnoticeable to one is apparent to another"

A great book filled with different alien/UFO encounters across the US state of Maine, told not only by the author's personal experience and research but also other anecdotes along the way. A healthy amount of scepticism provides balance between the accounts, making for an interesting read.

The stories include everything from little gray men, UFOs, strange lights, crop circles and men in black. This book is definitely the catalyst for me looking into the subject more.

The best thing about this book is probably that after every anecdote, the author tells you what to look up in order to find out more about each story including pictures and videos taken.

*Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC that I read voluntarily*

I always have a love/hate with these kinds of books. On my hand, I love reading them, they are so entertaining. The other hand, I just don't know if I can really believe. I want to believe we aren't alone but what aliens would want to come here? If they are real... they came long ago, saw how dumb we are and then decided never to come back and I can't blame them.

So while I loved this book so much, I always read them as fiction. I just don't know if I can get into the idea of others out there. Again, I wish I could. Maybe one day, I didn't believe in spirits ten years ago and I do know. So things change.

Will go live on my blog: 4/14/2018

*thank you to Netgalley and Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

2.5 stars.

I usually enjoy playing pretend with books such as this. What I mean is that I don't fully believe, but try to keep an open mind and have fun reading them by pretending that they could be or are true. Except with this unfortunately I just could not do that. Too much of it was so unbelievable I couldn't help in not even being able to pretend. It felt too fake. The other issue I had was that while I enjoyed some of the 'stories,' the extra 'facts' were of no interest to me and I skipped them. I've come to realise that while I can play pretend with topics such as ghosts and hauntings, when it comes to UFO's I do not believe much at all. Maybe 10% of me does but that might be just my eagerness to want to be scared.

For those who are believers or more so those who believe atleast 50%, I think will rather really enjoy this. There is alot of information and the author seems to have put alot of work into creating this book. So if you are a believer, I would definitely recommend this. If your not, id give it a pass.
