I always like Elin Hilderbrand’s summer novels and this one is no different. The books moves back and forth in time as we all arrive on Nantucket for the wedding of Celeste and Benjy. Nearly everyone has a secret, and most are revealed during the wedding weekend. It is a quick and fun read, and I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley giving me the opportunity to be an early reader in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I love Elin Hilderbrand books I love wedding books, and I love reading about Nantucket. I really loved this book. It really made me happy but I want to know more. I hope we see a second book. I was given a copy of this book by Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The night before Celeste and Benji’s extravagant wedding in Nantucket, the maid of honor is found dead. As the cops interview the wedding guests to try to piece together what happened, they uncover secrets and lies. Hilderbrand is well known for her compelling and fast-moving beach reads and this novel is engaging, with a propulsive plot and compelling characters.

I liked this a lot! It's exactly the kind of thing people talk about when they talk about a fun summer read.

Hilderbrand interweaves a romance, a mystery, and the story of a friendship in this tale of a dramatically canceled wedding, dying mother, and new love. On top of all that, the maid of honor has been found dead. Was she killed? With myriad suspects, the police chief has his work cut out for him.

Set in Nantucket, the book gives us a view into lives of the rich who summer on the island. And a look at how seemingly different families the same in many ways. This book is, like Hilderbrand's other books, a great beach read.

I started reading this book yesterday and I read long into the night and then finished this morning. Why? Because I couldn't get enough of what was going on in this dysfunctional situation. As a loyal reader of Elin's books, I really loved that she included characters from other books. I feel like I know the characters and the area simply because of how she describes everything. The food descriptions make me hungry every time I read one of her books. I thought the mystery was well-done. I kept thinking different things and I was wrong about all of them. She constructed this book in a way that was never predictable or cliche. I loved that she went back to using Nantucket as a POV to show us details that the characters couldn't give us. I enjoyed Greer and Merritt the most. I wish we could have had some chapter's from Merritt's POV, but I think we were able to learn what we needed to know about her from the view of others. I also wish we could have found out more about the relationship between her and her parents, but that probably wouldn't have added anything to the story- I just wanted to know because I liked her. I also really liked how we saw Merritt's kindness through Chloe's narrative. I really enjoyed reading this book, but I expected nothing less from Elin. I will follow her anywhere and read anything she writes.

The Perfect Couple captivated me from the very beginning. I liked the way the story went back and forth in time, telling the story from many of the characters's viewpoints. The ending surprised me. It answered one question, but left me with so many unanswered ones. At first I thought it should wrap up the mysteries/secrets/relationships more than it did, but after thinking about the book for a while I think it is a brilliant ending. The Perfect Couple is a book that I want to share with others.

Hilderbrand has hit it out of the park once again. Bringing back some characters from her other books, she has added a flare of mystery to this must read. As you take a glimpse into the world of the ultra-privileged, you once again are reminded that money can't always buy happiness. While among the world of the rich and famous, you meet some real and credible characters, as well as some extreme ones that fit perfectly within the plot. Most of them you will love, and some of them you will want to hate, but just can't. When the mystery unfolds, will the wedding still go off without a hitch? Elin Hilderbrand's The Perfect Couple should be added to every beach read list this summer.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Co. for this amazing read!

Another worthy beach read for the summer!

Told from different points of view, this is a story that will keep you guessing until the last page. A Nantucket wedding, a famous author, men and women behaving badly and just who is sleeping with who?

The author keeps us on the edge of our seats, not sure who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. And much like a large family, secrets are being kept. Some life changing, others life ending.

But who wanted the maid of honor gone? Was it an accident or something more sinister?

This is a great summer read.

I adore Hilderbrand’s books. This is definitely in my top five favorites of hers. I seriously hope there is a sequel to this one. I need to know more about what happens to Celeste. I am now craving lobster and want to purchase a pair of Nantucket reds. I would love to visit Nantucket one day but if I am not able to I love doing so vicariously through Hilderbrand’s wonderful books.

I didn't care for the characters assembled in this one they seemed shallow. Nothing like those in Winter Solstice which was 5 🌟 for me

The Perfect Couple is a terrific book by Elin Hildebrand. There is a crime, a series of secrets and enough things going on to make you shake your head and wonder whose shoe is going to drop next. The plot is actually rather fun (even with a possible murder at its core) because so many character stories intersect, run parallel, and diverge. Just when you might feel secure in thinking you have it all figured out you have not.

I've only started reading Elin Hilderbrand's novels within the last two years or so, but I haven't been disappointed as of yet. This has a murder at it's center, and a slight mystery, but the main storyline centers around familial relationships. There are a few familiar charecters from other novels, so regular Hilderbrand readers will recognize some names. I read this book in a little over a weekend, even with work and children to take care of. Definitely another hit.

Thank you to NetGalley.com for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Every summer I eagerly wait for the new Elin Hilderbrand Nantucket novel and this one is her best one yet! I love the fact that she has incorporated a death/possible murder in the plot which is a terrific change from her usual fluffy island love.
What I loved: The mixture of “locals” and “summer people” is so well done – I would love to see more of the Chief of Police and Roger the wedding planner in more books. Perhaps their own novels in the future? So much potential – and its nice to see more of the day-to-day life instead of just the mega wealthy on summer vacation. I definitely want to read more about THE GREEK!
What I didn’t love: The ending was a little rough with still so many more unanswered questions – what happens to Betty and Mac? Will Greer make her deadline? What happens to the family? Will the two become a couple. Its crying out for a follow up book as well! And why was that person wearing suede booties in the summertime?
What I learned: Even paradise can have an ugly side.
Overall Grade: A-

Amazing. Such a page turner. I loved it and couldn't put it down. With these ARCs, I do know that I'm spoiling my summer reading experience by not having an Elin book to devour out on the lake but I can't help it. I'll read every word she writes as long as she keeps writing.

The Perfect Couple was the perfect blend of family secrets, murder mystery and the perfect Nantucket setting. You could picture every scene, every room in Summerland. In this one, the characters were spot on, likable, for the most part and incredibly flawed but incredibly readable. I highly recommend!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC!

Expertly crafted. Elin brings you right to the edge, so that every character is suspect, everyone has a motive.

The novel begins with the discovery of the body of the maid-of-honor on a private beach by the bride, the morning of the wedding. From this point we are taken on the investigation that covers the entire book to the very end, where I guarantee, you will never guess what actually happened. I tried, all through out this page-turner, and failed.
Don't bother turning to the last chapter or page; it won't help. This story is so tightly woven together you have to read every word or be lost. The characters are complex, the bride and her family are average, middle-class people. The groom and his family are wealthy, have many secrets unaware from each other, and many homes. The wedding will take place at their beach-front estate on Nantucket, only several months after the couple met, because the bride's mother has terminal breast cancer.
What's meant to be the happiest day of this couple's life turns into the worst. You will fall in love with some, despise others, cry and laugh; but you will definitely love this book.
Elin Hilderbrand's best yet!

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Co.

Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favourite "Nantucket" writers...always a great setting. This story will have you up all night trying to keep up with all the twists and turns of a murder mystery. A great cast of characters, including some from previous books, tells the story from alternate points of view, centering around plans for a wedding which are interrupted by the murder of the maid of honor.

This was an outstanding read--my new favorite by Elin Hilderbrand! I was lucky enough to read it on the beach over Spring Break, which really added to the experience. All of the characters were fully developed, and I loved the mystery! Hours before Celeste and Benji's Nantucket wedding, the maid of honor is found dead. I was hooked right away, and I couldn't put the book down--there are so many secrets that are revealed in a series of flashbacks and alternating viewpoints. I hope that these characters show up in future books. Highly recommended for your summer reading, especially if you enjoy mysteries. Thanks so much for the preview copy!
