This was an outstanding read--my new favorite by Elin Hilderbrand! I was lucky enough to read it on the beach over Spring Break, which really added to the experience. All of the characters were fully developed, and I loved the mystery! Hours before Celeste and Benji's Nantucket wedding, the maid of honor is found dead. I was hooked right away, and I couldn't put the book down--there are so many secrets that are revealed in a series of flashbacks and alternating viewpoints. I hope that these characters show up in future books. Highly recommended for your summer reading, especially if you enjoy mysteries. Thanks so much for the preview copy!

A nice little twist to Hilderbrand's typical summer beach read. I enjoyed the mystery this time around. If you like Hilderbrand's other books you will enjoy this one as well. I will say though, that I have noticed the strange random brand name dropping has increased in the last couple of novels. I don't care about what brand purse or shoes people are wearing unless it's relevant to the plot and there seemed to be an awful lot of product placement for no real reason.

The Queen of the Summer read has done it again! This book should most definitely find its way into your beach bag on June 19. Love triangles, family secrets, likable characters and a murder all come together to make this beach read a summer blockbuster!!

Elin Hilderbrand brings readers back to Nantucket for a beautiful wedding. Beautiful bride, handsome groom and equally handsome and beautiful best man and maid of honor all show up to make a love story. When the Maid of Honor is found floating the morning of the wedding things are turned upside down. Everyone is a suspect. Family secrets come to the surface and the truth may hurt.

I loved this novel. I connected to all the characters and was still guessing to the last pages. To my knowledge this is he first time that hilderbrand has dipped into the thriller genre and she does a great job. She still maintains her strong characters and story telling. I absolutely loved it.

The cover and the title give the impression this is a typical beach-romance book, but that is not the case! This is actually a very clever murder mystery, which was a pleasant surprise. It was well-paced, with lots of twists and turns and intriguing, well-developed characters. I would have liked to see the ending focus more on the main character and give us a hint of her future, because I really got caught up in her story. Great book!

You know summer isn't too far away when a new Elin Hilderbrand book is coming out. Although this book focuses on a wedding being held on Nantucket it is not your typical love story. Hours before Celeste and Benji are to be married in an extravagant affair, the body of the maid of honor is found floating in the bay. Was it an accident? Was it murder? That's exactly what the Chief of Police is trying to find out. This book is told with alternating perspectives and flashbacks which makes it move along quickly. I couldn't put it down and I really couldn't figure out what exactly happened to the poor maid of honor. I thought the characters were well developed and believable and was sorry to see this book end! Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy. I will definitely be recommending this to patrons!

The Queen of the "Beach Read" is holding onto that crown for one more year!!!!!

The Perfect Couple has something I always love from an Elin Hilderbrand book - nods to characters from her old books. My two favorite books of hers are The Castaways and The Blue Bistro and this one has tons of characters from The Castaways!!!! (Note - you do not need to have read that one to enjoy this one!)

A wedding is happening on Nantucket, but on the morning of, the maid of honor is found dead. Told from alternating perspectives and timelines, the story is told throughout the investigation as well as the backstory behind the couple getting married and their families. As the story unfolds, you will make assumptions about "whodunnit" but I bet you won't guess who - I didn't!

The perfect summer read AND a murder mystery in one?!? You need this book!!

Thank you to Little Brown for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand is another gem of a novel by one of my favorite authors. This book involves a murder, a wedding (maybe), and the wealthy lifestyle of a Nantucket family. Celeste and Benji are set to wed at the summer home of Benji's family. The morning of the wedding a body has been discovered on the property. This leads to a whodunit of a novel that involves plenty of twists and turns along with some shedding of tears. Read and enjoy!

The wedding of Celeste and Benji is supposed to be the event of July on Nantucket but when the Maid of Honor, a social influencer, is found floating dead in the water on the wedding day it becomes an altogether different kind of memorable event. The story alternates between the events leading up to the wedding and the wedding weekend creating a picture that isn't quite as perfect as the Instagram version looks. A perfect beach, vacation, or lazy weekend read.

In 2005 I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of THE BLUE BISTRO and be introduced to the charm that is emblematic of every Hilderbrand book since then. Needless to say, I have never missed another and look forward to her tales of Nantucket. The good thing about Hilderbrand is that despite the setting being the same, and some of the characters reappearing, each book is different and lovely in its' own way.

THE PERFECT COUPLE is a mystery which unravels the wedding plans of the wealthy Winsbury scion, Benji, to the hard working, caring Celeste. The death of her bridesmaid, Merritt, begins 2 days of soul searching for Celeste and the narration of the history of the derailed relationship between Celeste and Benji.

The web of relationships is complicated and centers around the Winsbury family. There are a number of red herrings floating through the book which makes it interesting for the reader who is guessing the outcome. Hilderbrand also writes about the mother of the bride, struggling with end stage cancer. After reading the acknowledgements, I wish Hilderbrand well on her own "journey."

This book is a charming and nuanced portrait of a young woman, caught in the force field of wealth, but with enough character to come out intact.

Without a doubt, put this on your summer reading list and enjoy several hours of delicious reading pleasure.

My new favorite Elin Hildebrand novel and once I started to read, I couldn’t put this book down. Titled Perfect Couple, I might also call it, Imperfect People. Celeste and her wealthy fiancee Benji, wake up on their wedding day to find the maid of honor has drowned at the family compound. Of course the wedding is postponed while detectives question the extensive list of people who are involved with the possible murder of Celeste’s Best friend. The novel weaves over the course of the last two years, highlighting the relationships of Celeste and Benji, her parents, his family, and their friends. Part murder mystery ( which was really well written and kept me guessing until the end), part character story, I was riveted by the cast of characters, their imperfect ness, and their relationships to one another. A great read.

Every year I look forward to Ms. Hilderbrand's new summer read, and I think this year is one of her best. I was so surprised when I realized the book was a murder mystery set during a lavish wedding in Nantucket.

Of course Nantucket is a staring main character, but the book switches through the perspectives of the police, the wedding couple, their parents, their friends and other relatives, and the victims, as well as switching back and forth in time. While it sounds confusing, the book is so enthralling that it's never difficult to keep up. While I had my favorite characters, I was never disappointed in any of the shifts and enjoyed the medley of voices very much.

I especially loved the bride, Celeste, who is a zookeeper and struggling in New York before meeting her wealthy fiance. Her story arc was so satisfying and bittersweet that I found myself thinking of her future after the book ends.

The book is a perfect summer read, but is so much more than an run of the mill romantic romp in the sand.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced review copy.

A wedding in Nantucket of the Otis - Winbury families with no expense spared. Many of Hilderbrand's characters from her other novels are back in this love story adventure.
On the eve of the wedding, the bride's best friend and maid of honor was found dead on the beach. Was she murdered, was it an accident or did she do it to herself?
The police interview everyone who was at the event and everyone’s secrets come out which makes for more suspects.
This is a perfect summer read.

I liked this book. It grabbed my attention fast and I had to see how it ended. It did flip back and forth and had a lot of different points of view
