Beautiful illustrations. Step-by-step guide to 'making manga', starting with foundational elements (e.g., upper body shape) and smaller elements (e.g., eyes, noses and lips), progressing to more complex sketching...it looks like a great book for those who are looking to develop their skills in drawing manga.

I can't leave a review for this book as I lost the protected PDF copy when my old computer crashed and the Kindle version was all garbled and basically impossible to read. So I feel I can't truly rate or review a book I was unable to read. If it wasn't for the new changes to Netgalley, I wouldn't be leaving this review and rating, simply sending a private message to the publisher.

I do love all things Manga...but I have found that it's best to review/open this up on my Ipad/Tablet Kindle app as it doesn't load well or open properly on the Kindle Keyboard or Kindle Paperwhite Ereader

I only looked through a couple pages of this before I had to go get my sketch book. I'm normally just a colorist, and I don't do much of my own drawing, but I loved how easy some of the details in this were to follow. I especially enjoyed all the variations of eyes that we got to see and learn how to make. I've already used several of them in my own coloring books.

I guess I will never be old enough and I will never stop drawing manga characters. I'm always looking to improve my skills so this book was helpful to me.

I tried manga drawing and painting once again and I’m quite proud of what I achieved!

I’ve always admitted that one of weaknesses is drawing, especially when it comes to human anatomy. This year I vowed to devote a portion of my time to practice drawing manga (because I don’t think I can handle anything realistic at the moment. 😂) After holding it off for so long - with reasons of projects, trips and such - I finally managed to squeeze in time to draw and paint this!

The reference for this drawing I painted came from the book: Make Manga! by Karolina "Larienne" Heikura. I chose the colors myself. I think I’ve gone through 2 other how-to-draw manga books to no avail until I read this book! I honestly don’t know if it’s because I’ve understood the principles a lot better now or I just finally gave it more effort than I did with the previous times I practiced. 😂

I love that this book not only gave the basics on drawing but also has chapters that taught how to add color to your drawing, not just with markers, but with other medium as well! The authors tips on how to create a story without using words were incredibly helpful. I think that’s one of the great things about reading books, you get to learn from different artists who live in other parts of the world.

It took me roughly 3 hours to paint the first activity, and I don’t know how long I sketched it before painting it the next day. I still have a long way to go but I’m finally feeling more confident.

Focusing on composition and coloring, Make Manga! is a great next step for pencil artists.

While sketching is almost a sixth of the book, it seems too brief for most beginning manga artists. The inking and especially coloring sections are extremely well done. Most pages explain both what to do and why. Note that the author uses exclusively watercolor for backgrounds and large areas of characters. It may not be a good fit for those who dislike that type of media.

The chapters on composition and creativity are particularly useful for self-taught artists. There are also step-by-step guides in the back to create a day and a night composition for those needing more assistance.

Make Manga! would make a great gift (along with some art supplies) for the budding artist in your life. 3 stars!

This was a reflex pick up book it looked intriguing and a fun way to get into drawing. I like that it focuses on manga as it is quite popular genre and comes across as fairly straightforward. You can get started straight away and start with the basics and look at features of the face and the basic body form.
It's easy to follow and the images are attractive so really pulls you in, I lost way too much time following and sketching, it was great fun. A definite must for manga and drawing fans

This book has detailed instructions on various techniques on how to draw manga. Its very informative and you could probably apply these techniques with other things to. Id reccomend this book!
