I'm not quite sure quite what Rocket Roll means, other than the pun and space reference, but this is a fun book with strange creatures and worlds and an increasingly complicated path to follow a map that is also a person -- what!

The developing relationship between earthling Melody and Pale pilot Eight Man at Strength reminded me a bit of the banter between Leia and Han; if Han were actually Chewbacca; and adding a moaning alien from a group that can survive head detachment (and sometime reattachment). I'm sure that's a metaphor for something, but the inconvenience of having to carry one's head around is one of many glossed-over details in exchange for more fun things like being swallowed by giant bugs, going to a very mechanical plant, and a beach where the grains of sand are tiny animals. Add in complicate methods of spaceship logistics and some flirty innuendo and it's a great interstellar voyage of discovery.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
