The story unfolds in before and after format, following Emma as she wakes in the hospital with no memory, and in flashbacks of before in which we discover the events that lead us to this point. It's an absorbing read that is great for whiling away a few peaceful hours in a comfy chair.

Gripping and suspenseful! A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. The tension builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. Worthy of your TBR list.

The Last Thing I Saw was previously published as Don’t Let Me Die. The publisher has explained that the book has gone through editorial revisions.

This novel features main character Emma, a woman with no memory of the events that transpired before she awoke in a locked ward. Not knowing why her husband and son have not been to visit, Emma must endure visits with a therapist, as well as unwanted advances by a person in charge of her. Will a surprise visitor help Emma to reclaim her past?

I am sometimes wary when the cover of a novel makes claims like "gripping psychological thriller with a twist that will take your breath away", as this one does. I often find that the book just cannot live up to those expectations. The biggest issue that I have with the book the setting of a locked ward, yet certain activities seem to continue unremarkably until Emma arrives on the scene. The plot point regarding Emma and her little trip down memory lane seems implausible and the eventual conclusion a surprising twist, but not a good one. Basically, I am not a fan of the main character, her story, or the ending, so I would not recommend it to other readers.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of The Last Thing I Saw. The choice to review this novel was entirely my own.

I couldn't put the book down! It keep me guessing the entire time, absolutely amazing! One minute Emma has everything, the next minute her memory is missing.

Genuinely gripping and thrilling. I couldn’t read the chapters fast enough to find out what happened to Emma on “that night” and I could never have predicted the outcome. Terrifying with a really satisfying conclusion.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Imagine waking up in a hospital. You did something wrong. Or did you. Something went wrong. Or did it.
You can't remember anything, and your family, except for your brother refuses to visit you. This set the tone for a very interesting read, and I really enjoyed the book. Can't wait to lay my hands on the next Alex book!

I found this book a bit slow, I wanted to know what happened but it took a long time to get there...

Emma wakes up in a mental health facility. She has no idea how she got there, she can remember nothing from the last 24 hours. She tries to remember but only the feeling of being afraid comes back to her.
Everything was perfect, everything was going so well so how did she end up here?
The book jumps between before and after and as you read on slowly the story starts to come together. This was a fantastic plot, the characters were really well fleshed out (no pun intended!!) this is a brilliant debut and can’t wait for the next book

Oooohhhhh this is just my kind of book. It is one of those fabulous reads that keeps making your stomach flip. Especially when you think you've got it all figured out. And it turns out that you actually don't have. Recommended.

The Last Thing Saw is a crime thriller about a woman who wakes up in a psychiatric ward having lost her memory. An enjoyable read.

THE LAST THING I SAW is the debut psychological thriller by author Alex Sinclair. This novel was previously published as Don’t Let Me Die.

“Emma aimed the pistol at her husband, Darren who was begging for his life. How had life got so miserable, that it came down to this? But there was no other way…”

Emma had the perfect life: a beautiful home, a loving husband, Darren and her fourteen- year- old son, Jayden and Bessie their chocolate-brown Lab. Darren worked in construction, but recently lost his job, so now the family struggled for the next four years. Emma worked full-time in an administrative position at the University of Chicago, while still running the household.

When Emma’s father died, and left her an inheritance, Darren wanted to start his own business in construction.

Emma thought she had the perfect life…but she was wrong.

The story then switches to Emma waking up in a psychiatric hospital, with no idea how she got there…and where is her husband and son? They haven’t come to see her.

Emma tries to remember the last thing she saw…

We learn from the doctors that Emma is under strict watch after suffering a mental breakdown.
Emma tries to remember, but only has glimpses of being afraid and someone watching their house.

The chapters switch back and forth between, “Before”, the period leading up to the event and After, receiving treatment, which makes for easy reading.

Can’t say more without giving the story away, but this character driven novel was a pleasure to read, the writing style flowed smoothly with just the right amount of tension and pace with a surprise reveal at the end. You will just have to read it to find out!

Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for my digital copy.

This is an ok thriller but not as good as I thought it would. Emma wakes up in a psychiatric hospital. She doesn't know why and desperately tries to remember. Her estranged brother James visits but her husband and teenage son Jayden don't! Why? Read on!!

'The Last Thing I Saw' is a fantastic read. The narrative is fast paced and draws the reader in from the first line and grips them tight, not loosening its hold until the very last line!! Alex Sinclair has an excellent writing style which is captivating, tension building and atmospheric all rolled into one and has produced a thriller which will remain in my mind for many weeks to come.

As a reader I was immediately nervous of how I would feel in Emma's place, stuck in a hospital bed and having no memory of the previous 24 hours. I felt the terror that Emma was enduring and had to carry on reading to unpick what had happened since.

This is a fantastic psychological thriller but ensure you have plenty of time to read the book before starting it as it is very difficult to put it down once started.

Thank you to Bookouture for sending me the book to review in return for an honest review.
