I have been wanting to read a book by this author for what seems like forever, so I I was incredibly excited to get my hands on this ARC. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I really didn't like Mia and that feeling seemed to only grow the more she opened up. I felt like her circumstances didn't justify her prickliness, and when she and Ethan started letting their guard down and developing feelings for each other, I didn't feel connected to them at all. I did enjoy the writing here, and the premise sounded so promising. I would definitely try this author again, but this one didn't work for me.

I fell in love with Ethan, the brooding, handsome, former soldier with more wounds and emotional trauma than most. Ethan returns to his homestead to recover and heal. But Ethan holds most of that inside and only his inner circle is aware of his PTSD and long term healing process. Add to Ethan's return a high-powered, NYC, PR agent, Mia who is stuck on the family horse farm with an obnoxious teenager serving community service time for vandalism.

The ebb and flow of the story is enough to keep the reader engaged and waiting for the next scene to unfold. I loved the intertwining of several stories within one and am looking forward to the next installment, I can't wait to read the love story for the sisters and I hope a new love interest will be introduced for Mia's client, the political candidate, also father of the delinquent Chloe, Jonathan.Lake. I really like Jonathan a lot and he needs a love interest soon.

I had read and enjoyed some of Jennifer’s other books, so I requested this one without even reading the synopsis.

I really liked Mia and Ethan. They’re both stubborn and struggling with something and much more alike than they think. The banter and button pushing was fantastic. And their messed up meet cute turned absolute irritation made for a delicious foundation of hate to love. Ethan’s sisters were sweet and I’m guessing they’ll be getting their own books.

Plot wise it was good. There was a lot of open communication and the main conflict was a summer romance with the distance of where they each lived at the end of it. Thankfully, it was all quickly resolved. I would have liked a bit more at the epilogue. I thought Mia and Ethan deserved more than the set up for the next book, but hopefully we’ll get to see them then.

Overall, it was a strong start to a new series. I’m eager to read what’s next.

**Huge thanks to Montlake Romance for providing the arc free of charge**

I got the ARC of this book from netgalley.
I liked the book and thought Mia’s attempts at no carb diet were hilarious. I liked the bis where Ethan challenged her to eat something but him insisting she eat sweets made me uncomfortable. I loved how Mia’s career was important and she goes back to finish her task but I would have liked the compromise that the sister suggested better than how it was done in the book .

I really enjoyed this book. Although at times Mia and Ethans story seemed a little predictable it was a very enjoyable read. I can't wait to read Ophelia's story! #TheStartOfSomethingGood #NetGalley

Enthralled. That was me while reading this book. While I didn't care for Mia's character at first, and Ethan was an a-hole in beginning, these characters really drew me in and I definitely loved them and was rooting for them in the end. They both grew during the story and it wasn't a love at first sight quick read. The summer they spent together with Chloe and Ethan's sisters was a growth time for both and I'm glad the ending turned out the way it was. I'm highly anticipating the next book in the series.

If you are in the mood for a great novel with romance, tension, conflicts, and witty dialog, this is for you! A feisty, independent, career oriented woman is forced into effectually babysitting a nineteen year old belligerent girl meets a ticked off, assumption making man and their lives are taken on an adventure. Neither one is who they initially seem to be as each has more depth than first assumed. But, she lives and works in New York and he lives on a horse farm upstate New York. For eight short weeks their lives entwine and blend while both strive to crack the hard shell around the teen.
The Start of Something Good is the first of a series and I am definitely looking forward to future installments.

I have to admit, while I liked The Start of Something Good, it wasn't one of my favorites of Probst's books. While I enjoyed Mia and Ethan's early banter, I wasn't super wowed by their romance. Still, I enjoyed their sweet moments.

Regardless, I'm interested to see where Probst takes this serious, and to get to know more about Ophelia and Harper, and what they're stories are.

This was such a sweet story. The first book of a new series by Jennifer Probst and I can honestly say I'm hooked already. Mia and Ethan start off on the wrong foot right off the bat and things just get more heated after the initial run in. Mia's happy with her life--or so she thinks--so when her business lands her in the middle of nowhere, basically babysitting, for the summer, she's less than enthused. Ethan has come home from military duties with wounds to heal--both inside and out. When he's faced with a teen and her "aunt", he's just annoyed to have yet another thing to deal with. But then things change. The more they are thrown together, the deeper their feelings start to run...

Jennifer Probst has this way of telling stories and this series is off to that same great start. Her characters are engaging, the storylines are entertaining and the writing is easy to read and get lost within. She's started an intricate web with this first book and I am looking forward to the rest of this series!

This latest book by Jennifer Probst is the start of a new series, and a great start at that! Mia and Ethan while at first glance might seem like polar opposites. Well actually they are complete opposites, but that is exactly why they work as a couple. Ethan is a former special ops soldier that is suffering from PTSD. He wants nothing more than to hide away in the country to try and rebuild his life. Whereas Mia is stuck staying at his family's inn for the summer, when she wants to be running her company and living in NYC. But together they manage to heal each other, while at the same time coming to realize what is most important in life.
This was a great small town romance with endearing characters, both human and animal. I'm looking forward to what Probst has in store for Ethan's two sisters as the series progresses.

Mia Thrush is determined to make it in the world of PR in the toughest city in the world. And if she sets some wrongs right in the process, so be it. Helping a good man get elected as mayor of NYC, is her priority, and that means she is going to the middle of nowhere to make sure his 19-year-old daughter does her community service sentence quietly and doesn't get into any more trouble in the meantime. All while the media doesn't hear a word about it. So what if Mia hates small farm towns, or that she doesn't own a piece of clothing that isn't city fashion? She'll figure it out. She always does. And while she is there, if she has to put up with a hunk of a man, who is rude and mean, she'll do that too. Returning to his sisters B&B and farm after his last Special Forces deployment, all Ethan Bishop wanted was to be left alone. He knew he had a lot of issues to work out, his body and spirit were wounded and he needed time to figure things out. Time a fiery blonde from the city wasn't inclined to give him. There is an instant irritation when they meet. But also an attraction. An attraction that develops and evolves into a friendship and an interest that grows into something more. If only their worlds weren't so far apart. Ethan can't fathom going back into the city, and Mia can't remain on the farm forever. But still, this is The Start of Something Good... With crazy farm animals named after Disney characters, elderly guests that ignore their age, a teenager silently asking for help, a rescued horse that captures everyone's hart, and a family that will bring it all home, this is an Inn that will have many more love stories to tell. Ethan is all alpha, sexy, honorable, and determined to make it work with Mia his feisty, independent, beautiful girl. The Start of Something Good is a fun, feel good, love story by Jennifer Probst.

Yay! As a fan of Jennifer Probst, I was very excited to be granted an arc for a new series. The Start of Something Good is the first in a new series. And definitely not related to her Billionaire series or her Searching for series. It is a great read and the promise of yet another great series.
We meet Mia, a carreerfocused woman in the PR business of Manhattan, who reluctantly agrees to come to the Hudson Valley in the middle of nowhere, to keep an eye on Chloe, the daughter of her client. Jonathan Lake is running for mayor and Mia helps his PR. But now he has a serious problem, since his daughter has vandalized property at school and she doesn't want to talk about the reasons why. Therefore she is sentenced to a summer of working on the range of the Bishop sisters.
Ethan has just returned home to the B&B horsefarm of his sisters, when he meets stuck up Mia. They clash immediately, but Chloe reminds him of himself. Therefore, Ethan takes Chloe under his wing, while annoying Mia further.
Mia is determined not to get aggravated by the handsome rugged cowboy. But somehow he gets under her skin. When Mia realizes they are more alike than she would have thought, the mutual attraction they feel grows into something more. Will these opposites attract or will they push each other away? Find out for yourself in this wonderful new read. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
A familiar storyline - city girl finds herself in the countryside on a farm and meets damaged former military man. They appear to instantly dislike each other, butting heads often. But there is obviously a deep attraction and strong chemistry between them. Their relationship which develops, is full of passion and emotion. The characters are so real and well developed.
I enjoyed reading this charming romance. It made me smile.

Jennifer Probst has another hit with The Start of Something Good. This book has an alpha male former military hero who is sexy hot but also very human as he works to heal from physical wounds and PTSD. The author has the gift of getting me to feel the emotions of the characters. The setting is a gorgeous horse farm and the description details make me felt like was there. The female lead Mia is funny, intelligent, very human, and again I can feel and share her insecurities. This story has it all with romance, sex, pain, sorrow, good times and bad, with lots of human emotions and insights. This is a book I did not want to put down and I would highly recommend it. I am looking forward to reading the stories Jennifer writes about the other characters introduced in this book!

I surprised myself by loving this book. I have never been a fan of the “city girl goes to the country” plot line. I’m even less fond of the “charming inn, county fair, baked goods” scenarios. They have been written to death and often should be accompanied by a healthy dose of insulin. But this author managed to take all those things and make them fresh and interesting.
The story worked for me primarily because of the development of the protagonists, Mia and Ethan. The dialogue was believable and tart. Neither character was a stereotype, both being drawn in a more nuanced way than one would expect in a book with this plot line. The steamy scenes made sense and didn’t seem to have been sprinkled throughout as filler as often happens. In addition to dealing with the issues in their relationship, Mia and Ethan have to navigate a relationship with Chloe, Mia's teenaged charge for the summer. This facet was surprisingly well done and believable also.
My only minor objection was the stereotypical portrayal of the elderly guests at the inn as sort of creepily randy and rowdy. While I understand it was included for the humorous element, and parts were funny, in this day how many elderly people have false teeth in a jar in public? But that’s a small thing.
This was a lovely, interesting book that I thoroughly enjoyed despite my initial misgivings.

Mia, who owns an up and coming PR firm in New York, is sent to keep her biggest client's wayward daughter out of trouble while doing court ordered community service at an upstate horse farm and bed & breakfast. Mia is a business woman and a city girl through and through and is not at all happy about the task ahead of her. She is headstrong, brash, dressed to the nines and no nonsense. Country life has zero appeal to her. She dislikes animals, hates the slow pace of life, despises small talk and friendly town people and she most definitely detests Ethan Bishop who is in charge of the family horse farm. They butt heads at every turn even though there is an undeniable attraction between them. When Chloe, the client's daughter continues down the wrong path, Mia must figure out a way to put her on the straight and narrow and save her client's chances to win the New York mayoral race. Can Mia change Chloe's criminal behavior, save Chloe and her father's relationship and learn what is really important in life at the same time? When her task is completed. Will Mia still think her PR business is the most important thing in her life or will her goals change? This is a well written book full of funny encounters and sexual angst. I enjoyed the read and recommend it.

I really enjoyed this story! It is definitely aptly titled because it is the start of something good, another great series by Jennifer Probst!
This is a beautifully written story about two people, Mia and Ethan, who seem to be just about as opposite as they can be but who really are perfect for each other. Both Ethan and Mia are such well developed and wonderful characters that you can’t help but fall in love with them falling in love. But it’s a story about so much more than just this couple. It’s a beautiful story about family, love and healing on a deeper level and how sometimes all it takes is special people in your life to make things feel right. So much goodness in this story! So much to love! Looking forward to the next one!
