This is a wonderful primer for budding baseball fans. My one thought is that you really need to watch the recommended age group, 4 to 8, think t-ball, not much past that. I liked it and everything in it was true and like I said a great primer.

Baseball, by Nancy Streza is a part of the My Favorite Sport series.

This book features several sections with the following titles: Let's Learn about Baseball, Baseball Fields, Playing the Game, Baseball Gear, and Favorite Thing. Also, the bonus sections are called Do You Remember with questions about baseball, and the answers are in the back of the book.

Throughout this thirty-six page book, there are full-color photographs and interesting facts about this popular American sport.

Baseball is an interesting and educational book, which is geared towards children, particularly ages five to nine.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A great introduction to baseball with color photographs of children enjoying the sport. Basic terms and rules are discussed using simple words a child can understand. Quiz questions (i.e. how many innings in a game or how many strikes make an out) appear in the text with the answers in the back..

Rather than the usual kind of artwork, this book uses photographs to teach about, you guessed it, baseball.
It’s all matter-of-fact, even the quizzes. Even the glossary is incredibly simple. Definitely for younger kids, or possibly people from other countries who’ve never seen such a spectacle. Can’t imagine it took more than an hour to write, a little longer to find the photos. . . which is not necessarily a bad thing.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

This is a non-fiction book with some great photos and facts about baseball. This is a new series similar to the My Favorite Animal series also published by Xist. It is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about baseball. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. It gives basic rules, equipment and skills. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. It features both boys and girls as well as different ethnicities. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills. I am looking forward to seeing what other sports will be featured in this series.

My Favorite Sport: Baseball, is a short book about the game of Baseball. First it talks a bit about what baseball is and how the game works. At the end of each section is a "Do You Remember" with a question about something that you learned from what you just read. There is also a glossary with some of the terms that you should know if you want to play and learn about baseball. This is a nice easy read for a kid who is just learning to read and loves sports.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
