I loved this story. This was my first book by Claudia Connor so I honestly didn’t know what to expect. However, it was such an addicting story. I really loved the connection between Clare, a jilted bride on her “lady-moon”, and Deacon, a vet and single dad to twins. Their relationship, though unconventional, was sweet. Did I intend to read this in one sitting? No, but that’s exactly what I did. That being said, there were some flaws. I felt like the pace of this book went fast. It jumped ahead so much, and I get why that was done, but I would have loved a little more to the story.

I love single parents. Probably because I am one, but seeing how they navigate life and love after loss of whatever variety gives people like me hope that it can happen. Yes, this is fiction, but it's not too outside the realm of possibility. What does stretch the believability in this story are the sheer amount of obstacles they continue to hurdle because one partner does pretty much all the work and they end with an HEA. But that's the beauty of fiction, I suppose.

Deacon was a great dad, a passionate man, caring, and kind. He was successful and committed as well. I found him to be all kinds of good, which was a nice way to be, but he was a little too perfect and understanding. That balanced Clare in a way that made huge strides to help her overcome her insecurities and past hurts. It was Clare that frustrated me because of how many times she avoided contact with the one person that could correct her misunderstandings, give her strength, reassure her, or confirm their shared feelings.

An overall sweet story, this book had a lot of heart and even more healing that was handled well. It was a basic story, but a good one.

The minute I read the synopsis for this book I KNEW I had to read it! I'm a huge fan of Ms. Connor's writing ever since I discovered her with The McKinney Brothers series.

Clare and Deacon are both on solo vacations and the last thing they were expecting or looking for was love, but love is what they found.... except they didn't really want to admit it...what they could admit to is the amazing connection they felt for each other!

I loved how Deacon loved his daughters and the love he has for Clare is sweet and sexy and full of emotion. Seeing Clare how Clare loved his girls was so heartwarming. And seeing Clare get her very own HEA brought a huge smile to my face. I was truly sorry to see this book end!!

Claudia Connor creates characters that I can't help but fall in with from the start. Clare and Deacon come together for a short fling that they both know can be more. Events happen that makes them each believe the connect isn't recognized by the other.

Ms. Connor takes this couple on a beautiful journey. I highly recommend Love at Last for all romance lovers.

Love at Last was a sweet friends to lovers romance. I especially enjoyed the island part where Clare and Deacon met and their courtship began. It was fun and flirty. Sadly their relationship ended abruptly and Deacon had to leave. What transpired next was them being apart for many months and I would have enjoyed it more if they would’ve found each other sooner. A lot happened in those months. It took a lot of time for them to get back together but it all ended with a great HEA.

Change of genre.
Clean my palate from thrillers for a while.

I did like this romance. I didn’t love it, but I liked it.

It was written well, I loved how it flowed and how this author made the characters realistic and the story flew by well.

But I couldn’t help thinking, if your Groom told you that he was in love with someone else and you had given him your heart, then wanted nothing more to do with men because your so “unlucky in love” .....when will you realise “you can’t half pick ‘em!”

Find yourself first and value yourself.

Yea I know, it’s a fictional story.

It was good though, I’m just cynical (l

I really enjoyed her early McKinney brothers books so I wanted to read this. Plus I love a jilted-bride story. And the hero is a single dad. Basically all the tropes I love are in this book.

The heroine Clare goes on a “lady-moon” after she is left at the altar. While there, she meets a beautiful man, Deacon. Sexy times ensue. A misunderstanding happens and insert conflict and drama. I was here for it.

There was some sneaky Jesus in this book. But it is also possibly that is wasn’t intended to be sneaky. Clare works for a private religious school and it is never really talked about until a thing happens and then she no longer works there. At one point Clare mentions that she needs to “trust in God”, but up to that point, Clare appeared to have no other relationship with her religion or God. So I will label this Sneaky Jesus but assume that the author had intentions of making it a bigger deal, but left it out.

I got this book from Netgalley. It states that it is an uncorrected proof, but goodness gracious some of the spelling and grammar errors were absolutely atrocious. The hero lived in Ohio, close to “Pittsburg” so I assume she meant Pittsburgh. The no H version was used several times. There were some other errors that were bringing me out of the story. They were little, but sometimes that is all it takes. I try to be forgiving with ARCs, but some of these felt like they were too big for even an ARC.

I mostly enjoyed the story though. It was a fast read. Had some tropes I love. I believed in the HEA for the couple. Her stories tend to be medium spicy heat level and that was perfect for this story. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Magnificent storytelling captured the essence of two souls connected along with an unfortunate and nearly unforgivable misunderstanding that would change the course of many unsuspecting lives forever.
Heartbreak and unease forced Clare Franklin to face her would be honeymoon alone. Resigned to the fact that she may never find love, Clare was determined to enjoy her tropical paradise for what it was, a much needed vacation.

Dr. Deacon Montgomery knew when he first spotted Clare at the island resort, that she was unlike any woman he had ever met before. So, when she agreed to spend some time with him, between his work conference commitments, he was thrilled.

With their time together limited, Deacon and Clare decide to leave all the details about their outside lives at the door. But, when a closeness begins to develop between the two and a misunderstanding of epic proportions tears these two apart, what will come of their would-be love story?

What follows is a search, not just between two souls searching for one another, but for what it means to be a family and ultimately what it takes to give it one’s all and find Love at Last.

As Always, Happy Reading!

I adore Claudia Connor. There are only a few authors that I can read if they do a story in first person and she falls in this category. I am getting more use to this style of writing, even understanding why and how it is used to make a story more. I loved the sweet yet intense love story that brewed and kept me rapt throughout the entire story. Always ready to read a Claudia Connor story! Thank you

This book ripped me up. Not to worry though, it put me back together. This is the first book I've read by this author. She was referred to me. So glad I read it.

Clare and Deacon’s story!

After Clare is left at the alter by her fiancé leaving her for another woman, Clare understandably gives up on love. She decides to go on her honeymoon alone to spend a bit of time alone. At her resort, she literally bumps into Deacon, who is a single father there at a conference. They have an instant attraction, and feelings start developing. But Deacon leaves her abruptly and Clare is left alone once more.

Deacon is the single father of adorable twin daughters. I found this refreshing that the H was the single parent! He was also such a nice, sweet person...almost too much so! I found the pace very slow after the holiday relationship ended. I was actually thinking I should skip through parts (although I didn’t). At other times, I felt rushed. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the main characters.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

This is the first book I've read by this author. It seemed slightly unbelievable initially - Clare went from being told her fiance had met someone else, on her wedding day, to meeting and wanting to kiss a stranger the following day. She had been with Adam for years and was planning to marry him. Her feelings wouldn't have just switched off when he ditched her. She may have thought that Deacon was attractive, but would she have wanted to kiss him? And even moved in for a kiss just 24 hours after being left on her wedding day?

That said, I quickly forgave that and became totally engrossed in the relationship between Clare and Deacon. If only Clare had gotten the note he left her! This is a lovely romance story, and not as predictable as some. There are a few twists in it to keep it interesting. I would read more by this author again in the future.

A simple, heart-warming, almost angst free read that left me with a feeling of contentment that doesn’t always happen, so was most welcome.

Claire is on her honeymoon, unfortunately it is one that she is enjoying without the man that she thought that she would spend the rest of her life with after her nuptials too an unexpected turn.

Single dad Deacon is at the same resort but for slightly less salubrious reasons, he is at a conference, although I am sure that he was relishing the break, because being the sole parent to twins means that he certainly has his hands full.

Life for the two of them takes an upturn when they quite literally fall into each other’s arms…well maybe not quite, but she does end up in his arms when he does the gentlemanly things and catches her when he takes a tumble. With time on their hands and an instant attraction it doesn’t take long for the sparks to fly and the clothes to come off, but as soon as it began their time together is over and since Deacon has disappeared of the face of the planet, Claire can’t help but think that she has been abandoned yet again. But life doesn’t always telegraph its intent and there are more than enough surprises left in store for this rookie pair.

Deacon was totally yummy, and I liked the way he treated Claire, as if she was the most precious thing to him…well other than his kids that is.

The author has a distinct way with words, they way that she imparts character into not only Claire and Deacon but also his children truly brought the story to life. There were some superb supporting characters and with a few unexpected twists and turns along the way, I have to admit that I knew before I reached the last page that this was worth every one of the five stars that I am going to give it.

"How many times can you be unlucky in love before you decide it’s not luck, it’s you? With her ex-groom's words, I’m in love with someone else, still ringing in her ears, Clare Franklin flies off alone to her would-be honeymoon. Forced to accept not everyone gets that happily ever after she’s always dreamed of, she’s done with men. Until she gets tangled up, quite literally, with one sexy veterinarian.

The only thing Dr Deacon Montgomery wants is to share his surgical expertise and get back to his two year old twin daughters. But, the connection he feels with Clare highlights just how alone he really is and makes him wonder if he can be more than doctor and daddy. "

This is a gentle light hearted summer romance that was perfect for relaxing in the garden. A bit too predictable, but a nice story with a message of second chances.

Four and a half enthusiastic stars! Claudia Connor writes the sweetest romantic heroes! Sweetest and most family-oriented romantic novels that I have ever read. She communicates the struggle of balancing romance and children well, while making her book boyfriends swoon worthy and unforgettable.

I know that when I pick up one of Claudia’s books I am guaranteed an emotional, sweet, romantic story. Her characters are relatable and I almost always want to be friends with the female characters. And then by the end I’m ready to go out and find my own single dad who also happens to be a hot veterinarian. I should have no problem finding one, right? (see link for full review)

Clare Franklin thought she’d try the safe option and marry the man who made her feel comfortable, unfortunately he fell in love with someone else and left her at the alter. She wasn’t going to let him spoil her trip to paradise so went without him not expecting to bump into someone who made her think again about love. But is she only on the rebound and can he really be as perfect as he seems? I enjoyed this story set against sandy beaches and tropical seas. I received an advanced copy of this book.

For me, this book was a little odd. It kind of jumped allover the place leaving giant holes of time missing. I am not a fan of that. I need a constant timeline. Not months passing and we are onto the next thing. I
