There is something about this one that is very sweet and despite what happens at the start is a slow burn, but I really like that about it.

I hated how things started for Clare, was glad that she took the time to get away and try to get her head on straight. Her time away was eventful is so many ways. I guessed quite a bit that happened form this point on, yet it didn't bother me. It was fun to see things revealed, to see how both Clare and Deacon reacted. The one thing I liked when everything was out in the open was that neither part got mean or demanding, instead they wanted to do what was best for all involved and that was getting to know each other better. Because they moved at a slow pace by the time that a choice needed/wanted to be made it was the right one for them all. It made for a very sweet ending!!

I really enjoyed this book! I thought that Claudia did a great job with this book. It is a stand alone book, the charters were fun and both had some back story on why they did not trust in love. Deacon, a single father who has been so busy raising 2 little girls has not had time for dating is suddenly at a conference and runs into Clare who is trying to get over love gone bad! On what was going to be a honeymoon is now living it up on vacation all by herself in paradise.

One dinner turns into a few days of fun and falling in love.... but then what was a scheduled last day of fun turns into a day of disappointment when Clare is left wondering what happened to Deacon.... when she gets home things get even more interesting as decisions that they made in paradise are life changing for them both.

What is next for them is a test on love, relationships and trust... Will their past be left in the past and can they forgive miscommunication and not bring up the what "ifs" and move on and trust in love and make a go of their happily ever after?

LOVE AT LAST by Claudia Connor. Such a sweet and easy to read tale. Deacon, our Hero, is a doll. He's a great dad, a wonderful son and a terrific lover. Rightly so, Clare is swept away by the attraction the two share. I liked Clare and my heart felt for her, but she did sometimes annoy me with some choices she made. Despite that, these two together are simply meant to be. The story, at times, hit me right in the chest as I felt the emotions flowing through these two. There was anger, laughter, sadness, and, of course, love. Ms. Connor writes so fluidly and effortlessly that the reader cannot help but feel what Deacon and Clare do throughout. This was an enjoyable read that was filled with family and the ups and downs that come with a relationship and life. (received ARC for honest review)

Clare and Deacon !
A random meeting that leads to so much more.
I absolutely love the ability that Claudia has at weaving a story that pulls you in and gives you so many feelings. You begin to feel as though you personally know that characters and you become invested in them!
Clare and Deacon gave me everything that I love in a romance !!

This is a cover I would have passed right over. If I had not done a search by author's name, I probably never would have noticed it or given it a second glance. But, seeing as it is a Claudia Connor book, I stopped to read the synopsis while thinking, "This looks nothing like the books I've fallen in love with." It sounds nothing like them either. This one almost feels as though it'll have a sweeter contemporary vibe. We'll see!

POV ~> Third-person

Aww, Sweet and Sexy!
Clare's wedding day does not go as planned and she finds herself taking a "LadyMoon" in the Dominican Republic. Deacon is a guest speaker at a veterinary conference at the same all-inclusive resort. It's a sweet and sexy meet-cute.
When Deacon is called home on an emergency and the desk staff fails to deliver Clare a message, miscommunication leads to months apart. But the pull they felt in paradise binds them tighter than either imagined and the two find one another again many months later.
I enjoyed the characters, even with the miscommunications and insecurities. The chemistry was fantastic. The secondary cast was enjoyable. The plot was entertaining and flowed smoothly. There were conflicts along the way and while I may not have agreed with how they were handled, I was able to see the reasons they did or did not do certain things. In the end, predictability was pretty low. The conclusion was perfectly done.
Overall, I would recommend this title to those that like the sweet with heat, feel-good, small-town type stories.

Love At Last by Claudia Connor is a fun, sexy story of love discovered, lost, and discovered again. If you’re looking for a sweet romance with big family dynamics to lose yourself in, you can’t go wrong with a Claudia Connor book. This one is no exception.

There were a couple of issues I felt with the timeline of the story – it felt like we jumped ahead and characters made some strange choices at some parts – but overall this is a wonderful story that I found myself really enjoying. I thought there would be more detail to some parts of the story. And, in today’s world, I didn’t think the characters needed to be lost to each other as extensively as they were.

Love At Last gets 4 stars from me – it kept me interested and I loved following Deacon and Clare’s story.

I can count on Claudia Connors to always deliver the kind of love story that gives me happy feelings and leaves me with a big smile on my face.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well written and the story line is excellent. I always love reading about accidental first encounters.

Clare never expected to meet someone who would sweep her off her feet. Until she met Deacon. Their story is sweet mixed with some very smexy moments that will make you swoon over Deacon. At time it tugs at your heart and you will cheer for their HEA.

An added bonus to this story are the children. They add so much richness to this story.

This is a perfect summer read.

This single dad romance with a jilted bride will keep you hooked throughout the entire book. You will want to laugh, cry, and will feel the heat between Claire and Deacon. Deacon is the quintessential dad and vet you would love to know. I really enjoyed this easy to read book, and you won’t be disappointed by Claudia Connor’s newest book.

I fell in love with this author's books when I read the McKinney Brothers series, so when I saw the blurb for this book I was immediately on board to read it as well. Love at Last demonstrates perfect that sometimes life's unexpected detours lead us to exactly where we were meant to be.

Clare knew when she was dating Adam that he was the safe option; he didn't exactly set her on fire, but they had fun and fit well together. She never expected him to come to her ten minutes before they were set to exchange vows to tell her he met someone else and to call off the wedding. Stunned and humiliated, she decides to go by herself on what should have been their honeymoon to escape and try to figure out where it all went wrong. It doesn't take long for her to realize that her lack of a broken heart is telling her exactly the reason it didn't work out, but it doesn't make it any easier to be around newlyweds at the all-inclusive resort. On her first night there, a mini-disaster almost strikes when she gets her heel caught on the pathway leading to the restaurant and she nearly falls right into the koi pond. Fortunately one very sexy veterinarian is nearby to catch her and save the day. Deacon is attending a conference at the resort and asks her to have dinner with him, but his initial reaction to her tells him this may be the beginning of something big for both of them.

Clare has a tendency to overthink everything, but she finds herself taking a chance by spending time with Deacon. He lights her up in a way no man ever has before, and those few days turn out to be some of the best of her life. It all comes crashing down when Deacon has to leave unexpectedly for an emergency back home. Their decision not to share details of their lives away from the resort comes back to bite them both when they have no way to contact each other and Deacon's note that he leaves for Clare never makes it to her. Fate has other plans for them though so they have not seen the last of each other.

When Clare and Deacon do finally make contact again, everything has changed for both of them. They still have undeniable chemistry, but essentially they are two strangers who spent a few wonderful days together. Clare's tendency to overthink and over-analyze everything threatens to derail any future they may have. Deacon has been determined to find Clare again though and he is not going to let her keep him at arm's length for long if he has any say in the matter. His two twin daughters are absolutely adorable and brought another level of charm to the story that I loved!

I don't want to say anything further about this story so that I don't spoil it for anyone, so I will leave you with this. If you are looking for a contemporary romance with wonderful characters and plenty of sweet and heat, then you definitely need to get your 1-click on for Love at Last!

When Love At Last begins, heroine, Clare Franklin, has all but given up on love, feeling like she’ll never get her happily ever after, after her fiancé breaks her heart. She’s lost all faith and trust in men, so when Clare goes on what would have been her honeymoon, she has no intention of giving her heart to another man just to have it broken yet again, but when she meets a certain sexy veterinarian while she's away, their fling quickly proves to be more, but with one phone call what might have been no longer matters because Claire, once again, is left alone, reinforcing her previous thoughts about love and bringing all of insecurities to the forefront, and this time, she may never recover.

Dr. Deacon Montgomery’s life is all about being the best doctor and father he can be. In his mind, there’s no room for anything else, despite how lonely he is. But that doesn’t stop him from being in the now with Clare while they’re away, so despite Clare’s insecurities and Deacon’s singular focus, what they share while on vacation is not something either can let go of, even after they go their separate ways.

One aspect of Claudia Connor’s stories that I adore is how she constructs and characterizes her main characters. Every character that Connor has introduced readers to has incredible depth and every aspect of the heroes and heroines resonate from the pages and allow readers to truly KNOW everything they need to in order to truly understand who these characters are and what makes them who they are.

Clare and Deacon are definitely works-in-progress when it comes to figuring out how to juggle everything that they have to deal with in their lives, and while they both make mistakes and overanalyze things way too much, it’s clear that they want and maybe even need more out of life than what they have, even if they can’t admit it out loud.

I adore single parent romances, and Deacon is such an amazing father to his two-year-old twin daughters. I can’t blame him for being singularly focused; his girls and his job are his priorities, but he so deserves more and Clare seems to be the one who can give him everything he’s been missing.

Love At Last is an emotional journey, and while there are some parts of it that are a bit predictable, it’s a story that readers can relate to on a number of levels and that is all that any reader can hope for when it comes to a romantic story line.

I really enjoyed this beautiful romance story. Clare Franklin is left at the church when her groom-to-be tells her he is in love with someone else. Clare decided to head off to the resort where they were supposed to honeymoon and spend some time thinking and getting herself together. It doesn't quite turn out the way she planned. After spending her first afternoon having a bit too much to drink, she literally stumbles into Dr. Deacon Montgomery, a vet who is there for a conference. After having dinner together, they realize that they are both lonely and they get along very well. It becomes a holiday romance as they spend time together both in and out of bed. When Deacon gets a phonecall, he flies back home leaving Clare a short note. Unfortunately, Clare never gets the note and believes that Deacon was just using her and she is devastated.

After returning home, she starts her job teaching at a private school until she realized that she is pregnant and loses her job. Deacon had to go home as one of his twin girls had to have surgery, but once she is better, he tries to find Clare. It is not easy to do when you only have a first name. Clare googles Deacon and finds a newspaper article showing him with his wife and child. She decides not to tell him about her pregnancy until after the children are born, yes twins.

I loved both characters, Clare and Deacon. They had both been hurt and were not sure if they wanted to take the chance to be hurt again. They were also both very caring people who everyone around them cared about and wanted to make them happy. As the story progresses, it goes from predictable to surprising. I loved reading what they went through and how they solved the problems that arose. We have two single parents, both of twins, who need each other more than they know. Deacon's little girls are adorable, loving and I just wanted to hug them both. A great romance and family story that I would recommend to anyone who loves second chance romance stories.

Second chances at love are the best kinds of romances to read. But this one, this one was more than just a second chance. This was a once in a lifetime love that beats all the odds to make this book so much more than you would expect.
Claudia Connor, gives us two characters that win you over from the get go. Clare goes on a trip she was supposed to spend with her significant other, but ends up spending alone.
Deacon goes on a work trip as one of the head speakers, never imagining that The twist is when an emergency and a missed message turns the whirl wind of a trip into broken hearts and lives changed forever.
Claudia gives us two lives lived separately and longing for each other. Both wishing they could find the other to face what could be a beautiful future.
Love, two sets of twins and a second chance at happiness that will full your heart to burst! Make sure you have a box of tissue this one is a tear jerker!

Love at Last starts out as Clare is basically left at the altar, although her heart isn’t broken her confidence is finding love is. She goes on her honeymoon alone and stumbles upon Deacon, a sweet, handsome veterinarian there for a medical conference. With Deacon Clare feels all the swooning and heat she never felt with her ex. They spend exciting days of exploring the island and a few steamy nights together before circumstances unexpectedly tear them apart. Can the new intense feelings overcome all the real-life drama?

I loved this story! I’m a huge fan of Claudia Connor’s romances! Deacon and Clare have such a profound connection on the island, and I was hurt when they were torn apart. I must say my least favorite time in the novel was the time they spent apart wondering if they would ever see each other again, or if what they felt was real. Poor Clare! Although they both were cheated out of things by the circumstances, Clare had to go through so much alone, and again wondering if she could trust her judgment in men. I loved that Deacon was so determined to mend Clare’s broken heart and trust again once they were reunited. He was such an absolute gem! Deacon didn’t do anything wrong and he was a victim of circumstances, too, but I still felt really bad for Clare.

Claudia Connor always writes the dreamiest male heroes! Men with a protective streak a mile long, and loving dads that will melt your heart! Clare and Deacon had a bumpy ride on the road to love, but the journey was well worth it!

Review Love At Last is an addictive read. Impossible to put down. It's emotive and passionate.

Clare hasn't been lucky in love and when her happy day turns into a disappointing disaster, she takes advantage of the prearranged break. A "Ladymoon"!

Deacon is a Vet and a single parent. Since the birth of his twin daughters, his time is dedicated to them and his work.

Deacon is attending a conference at the same resort as Clare when a minor mishap lands her into his arms. Literally! Once they get out of this embarrassing situation, they spend the evening together. Despite her heartbreak, Clare feels comfortable with Deacon and for the first time in three years, he feels relaxed in a woman's company.

The evening ends on a fairly innocent note, except for Clare's bold move which surprises both of them. After having dinner the next evening, they discover that they are enjoying their time together. A walk on the beach turns into something more, but then everything changes. Clare blames her luck and her lack of judgement.

Not long after, she has the surprise of her life which turns out to be one of the best thing that could happen to her. Deacon is totally unaware of this development and Clare doesn't know how he would react if he were to know the truth. Will they meet again and pick up where they left off? After all, everything is different now.

This novel sucked me in right from the start. Deacon is a star single father and Clare is examplar in her new situation. The twins are adorable. Although there are a lot of pushing and pulling and a bit of a scare towards the end, it ends on the most beautiful note. The family dynamics are commendable. I like Jess, the supportive best friend and Connor, the over protective brother. It's a heartwarming and compelling romance that would appeal to most fans of romance novels.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

This is a sweet story with great characters and a feel good ending. Deacon is the perfect single father that puts everything before his children. when he meets Clare during a work conference, it is the first time he does anything strictly for himself. Clare is on a honeymoon for one. After her wedding fiasco, she is trying to bolster herself up for the next step in her life. Another love fiasco causes Clare to put up walls. They meet under cute circumstances and start a friendship that would have developed into more had life not happened. Emergencies, missed communications, misunderstandings and a little self doubt causes a separation. A lot of things have changed when they reconnect. Clare has been burned too many times to count. Deacon must convince her to trust her feelings. The story was good, the characters were great. Great read for those who love single parent romances with cute kids and great scenes with the joys of parenthood. The romance is great too!

Claudia Connor has a permanent spot on my auto-buy list, and many of her books are also on my comfort-read list. You know that list, those books that you rely on to cleanse the palate after a disappointing read, the ones you read when you need something comforting and familiar, the books that you’ve read over and over. From her first book, Worth the Fall (On my comfort-read list, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it. If you haven’t met Matt McKinney, you’re totally missing out.) to her newest release, Love at Last, Connor has an uncanny knack for creating storylines that draw you in and won’t let go.

This is my 5th book by this author. I really enjoyed her McKinney/Walker series. My favorite is Worth It All.
It's been a while since my last CC book.
I received an ARC from NetGalley. My laptop bit the dust, so I was a little behind in reading and reviewing.
I was anxious for a sweet love story to read.
A big chunk of the first half of the book takes place in the Dominican Republic. Clare and Deacon have a meet-cute. There's an insta-attraction. Neither of them was looking for anything even remotely casual. They do casual- and them some.
There's not much I can say without spilling the whole story. There are many "what?" moments for me. This is 3rd person POV. The writing is a little clipped.Short, choppy sentences. It reminds me a little of KA & also of Rosalind James' rugby series. Fortunately, there were longer, flowing sentences sprinkled in the story.
As I mentioned, my favorite CC book is "Worth It All". I really like the children characters. So real and yeah- child like. Not mini-adults or super achievers.
The "what?" moments are somewhat possible but I think very unlikely to occur in real life. What Clare goes through is hard for me to believe. If I watched daytime TV or a cable docudramas, I would be more convinced.
I think that I like Deacon more than Clare. Clare has my sympathy. It's no secret that she was left at the altar.
She tries to keep her chin up the best that she can.
Deacon makes some errors in not being upfront with Clare. This leads to major life altering events.

I give this 3.5 stars. I want to read more books by this author.

Another great book by an author that's so good at writing emotional stories. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

When does a fling become the real thing? Or is that even possible? Clare's fiancé, on the day of their wedding, tells her that he is in love with someone else. But Clare is nothing if not resilient and she goes on the honeymoon trip as a way of trying to come to terms with what happened and just to get away. While at a five-star Dominican resort she meets Deacon, a handsome veterinarian at the resort for a conference and they hit it off and have a very steamy one night affair. He is gone the next morning, not only from Clare's bed, but from the resort. She is left wondering why and feeling that this relationship could have been so much more.

Deacon was so much more than a handsome veterinarian. He is the single father of 2 1/2 year old twins and his life, while very busy, is lonely. When he meets Clare, he is impressed by her spirit and her beauty. To have suffered the emotional upheaval she did makes Deacon want to protect her. She has awakened him to the yearning for someone to share his life with. He wants more than a vacation fling, but Fate is going to make him work for it.

When does a fling become the real thing? When two people have true and abiding feelings for each other, overcome adversity, put the past behind them and decide that the love they have is strong enough to overcome anything.

Claudia Connor is one of the best romance authors I have ever read. Every book has been a fantastic read and this book does not disappoint.
