I became a fan of this author after reading Worth the Fall and the books that followed in the series. While this story is a standalone novel, it had the essence of her previous books.

Clare is blindsided by her fiance who tells her on their wedding day that he is in love with someone else. She's stunned and decides to go on her honeymoon trip to isolate herself and process what has happened. She can't help but notice all the couples and as she tries to enjoy her solo excursion, she meets Deacon who is there on business. Their meeting sparks a connection and they make the most o their time together and the rules are that they only discuss the "here and now". Clare is receptive to a fling as it is helping her cope with the events at her wedding and also prompting feelings that she did not have for her ex-fiance. Deacon is also feeling vulnerable and doesn't want this to end, until it abruptly does.

Deacon's departure adds to Clares feeling of insecurity and she wants to forget their encounter or the feelings she has developed for him. Deacon had left a note for Clare before he left and she never received which makes him wonder if his feelings for her were one-sided, but he can't stop thinking about her.

Deacon is also juggling his career and his 3yr old twin daughters, Maci and Margo. They are everything to him and this author does a great job highlighting the unconditional love he has for his family. Deacon wants more and decides he needs to find Clare. He hires a PI to find her.

Clare is settling into her new home and job as a teacher. She is getting into a routine when she finds herself sick and soon realizes that she isn't sick but pregnant and knows the father is Deacon. She finds herself back home with her family trying to figure out what she is going to do.

You are now at the halfway point of the book and this author now takes you on a journey of how Clare and Deacon can connect again and if they can be a family. She adds layers of interesting characters that add to the storyline. Deacon is secure with his love and protection of his daughters and get wants to add Clare to the family and slowly convinces her that she can trust him even when she doesn't trust herself. This was a feel good story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Love at Last, a beautiful encounter about Clare and Deacon, turning into his lovely, emotional romance.

I do like a romance where the main characters are doing all the things in a different way, totally unconventional, doing things differently.
Two characters in a paradise place, being there for two different purposes, two people who really never fell in love and gonna learn that you can’t chose when you fall, you just did. I was hooked from the beginning, I couldn’t stop reading, transported into this romantic mood the author settled you in. So damn good.

As insane as the situation was, I meant, Clare has being ditched at her own wedding, Deacon was a single dad of two cuties twin, an instant connection and irresistible pull later, incredible things happened. They both felt something they haven’t felt before, proving that maybe there’s still love somewhere but these two haven’t met it yet. What would might have been a recipe for disaster became something more and life changing.

I liked the slow pace, bringing surprisingly emotions so powerfully, a great blend of sweetness and hotness. I loved Claudia Connor’s writing style, telling stories that might be surprising at first, but making you believe in it, with connections that felt real and genuine, swoon worthy but also so passionate. I adored it, so much.

Claudia Connor weaves a wonderful tale about two people who by chance meet at a resort, connects both emotionally and physically and had a sudden parting of ways. Romantic catnip for a reader like me! Plus I love Ms. Connor's books. In Love at Last, she manages to take a common trope and makes it unique. I love Deacon and Clare, and the twins and the way this story unfolded to sweet romance, sexy encounters and family! It just basically explains trust and love so well, how Clare and even Deacon accepts what happened to them in the past and that what they have now is totally different despite the similar circumstances. It is a feel good novel that makes you warm all over and smile!

Dr. Montgomery completely had my ovaries exploding!!! When Deacon meets Clare at a resort on her "honeymoon" he never intends to fall for her. Clare was left at the alter and meeting a man on her "honeymoon" wasn't in the cards.

This story had me swooning through the whole. From the very beginning I fell in love with Deacon Montgomery. The man that he is and that single father that he is. I loved his dedication to Clare and really wanting to give what they have a shot.

The story is well told and the characters are well developed. There were quite a few times I got butterflies when Deacon would talk to Clare. These two had me falling head over heels for their story. I absolutely loved it!

After being left at the altar Clare travels to her honeymoon destination on her own. There she meets Deacon and they have a brief but passionate affair. Until Deacon suddenly leaves and Clare is left with questions and regret. Months later Deacon finds Clare again, after searching for her and he reveals his reasons for leaving.

I must say I thought the middle part of the story was too drawn out for me. After their holiday week it took quite a while for Deacon and Claire to meet up again, and after that it was a bit of a scramble to find their way.
It might be this is not the right book at the right moment for me, but I did not fall in love with the story or the characters.

Claudia Connor is an auto-read author for me—she always puts the happy in the happy ever after and Love at Last keeps up that trend.

“You’ve got to admit there’s something extremely attractive about a single father.”

I’m not going to say much as it’s one that would be all to easy to spoil for readers and, whilst it isn’t what I would term unique in terms of story content and does venture into clichéd territory, Clare and Deacon were endearing characters and I enjoyed them together.

“I’m glad I found you.”

With a serious dose of cute coming courtesy of Deacon’s 3 year old twin daughters, Maci and Margo, this was a sweet, heartwarming journey with a splash of sexy along similar lines to Worth the Fall which introduced me to Claudia’s writing and has kept me reading since. If you’re after an easygoing romantic read then this ticks the boxes nicely.

It started as a slow easing into the plot. A failed wedding, Clare goes to her so called honeymoon by herself where she meets Deacon. After being left at the alter she decides to enjoy this time with Deacon. No information are exchanges, they are enjoying the now. Deacon can’t forget Clare and Clare couldn’t forget him even if she tried.

It a slow paced love story. After the vacation it picked up a bit and things got interesting. Beautifully written with a seamless plot. It was sweet story .

Standalone told in the third person with an HEA. I would recommend this story.

The author gave me the unexpected in Love at Last. The chemistry and emotions that this couple shared kept me reading.

I loved the beginning of this book. Clare and Deacon share a sweet but brief moment. Their time is less than a week but The chemistry and connection is heartwarming.

The phone call Deacon received has him running but due to a mix up Clare isn't aware what chased him away. Deacons sudden leave at the resort, spurs a series of mis-connections between this couple. They were two ships passing in the night.

Right when I was ready to toss my kindle this couple finally reconnected but it isn't the hearts and flowers I was hoping for. After an emotional journey these two finally found what they were looking for.
Deacon was in board with the making their relationship last but Clare had her doubts. While I understand her reasons for this, I wanted her to take the leap.

It took most of the book but Deacon was able convince Clare that his love was real. They managed to get their well deserved HEA but their struggles were real.

Love At Last was an enjoyable read. If you love a single parent romance than this is one that you should read.

I found the storyline and characters fun and easy to connect with. This isn’t my favorite book by this author, but it was one I will still recommend to other readers. My biggest and really only negative about this book was that I thought it dragged on for too long. I felt it could’ve been shortened. I was really enjoying the book until about the 30% mark and then from there I felt the storyline could’ve been condensed. I felt the author could’ve used a time jump at that point to keep the flow of the story going. But once we got to about the 55% the storyline picked up again and I was enjoying the story much more at this point. I will say that something happens towards the end of the book, that I thought could’ve been left out. I didn’t understand why she threw that bit of drama in there. I didn’t feel it was needed.

Love At Last is Claudia Connor’s newest standalone novel. It is told from Dual POV but in the third person. Usually with a story told in the third person I feel like the story is being read to us and I usually don’t connect with the characters as well, but that was not the case with this story. I connected to the characters and their emotions just fine and I didn’t feel like I was being read the story. I thought the flow of the story was ok, and the pace was good, except in the middle when things dragged a bit. This truly was a very sweet romance story.

We follow Deacon and Clare in this story. Clare has just been stood up on her wedding day and heartbroken, she decides to go on the honeymoon alone. This is where she meets Deacon, who is there for a convention. Deacon is a single father of twins and a veterinarian. Clare and Deacon quite literally bump into each other and the chemistry is instant. Both throwing caution to the wind they decide to take some “me” time and strike up a fling. That is until an emergency call from home takes one of them away unexpectedly. Leaving the other one to question what happened. Can Deacon and Clare reconnect?? What happens if they do find each other and secrets are revealed?? Can these two find their HEA?? Read this book to find out.

I would recommend this book to fans of Claudia Connor and to anyone who likes a single parent romance. The girls in this story were just too adorable for words. I wish we would’ve seen them even more throughout the book.

Love this story ! I’ve been a Claudia Conner fan since her McKinney Brothers series ! Didn’t think I could love anyone more than Matt and Abby , but Deacon came pretty close !!! What’s not to love...a single dad of twins , a veterinarian and all around good guy ! Beautifully done love story, but not without issues that made my heart hurt ! This should be an absolute 1-click , no question!

Wasn't too fond of this story. It was not what I thought it would be. Not too realistic on any scale.

I am a huge Claudia Connor fan, and was super excited to be given an ARC of her newest book. She has such a way with love stories that all you want to do is sit there and gobble up the book in one sitting. Which is exactly what I did over the Easter long weekend.
I thought “Love At Last” was just going to be a holiday romance from the blurb, but it was so much more.
Clare Franklin is having a ‘lady moon’ instead of a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. That’s what happens when you get dumped at the alter just hours away from your wedding. Duncan Montgomery is there attending a medical conference. The two collide literally and the sparks fly. But an eventful telephone call and lots of miscommunication lead to struggles for both Clare and Duncan.
I don't want to say too much and spoil the plot of this great book for anybody, but I can say you won’t be disappointed. Claudia Connor does romance like no one else, so expect the unexpected. Lots of feels, giggles and laugh out loud moments in this book for me.
My only complaint with anything in “Love At Last” is the heroine Clare. I did find her a little annoying and frustrating. I know she’d had her feelings hurt and had issues from her past, but she needed to be realistic, work with the information she had and act like an adult. Being all high and mighty is one thing, but putting food on the table is another. I won’t spoil why I feel this way about her as it’s central to the storyline and isn’t mentioned in the blurb, but she did make want to shake some sense into her.
This was another great read by one of my favourite authors. I loved this book. It was filled with everything I want in a romance. Chemistry, well developed characters and great storylines. Overall, a brilliant read.

Review will post on blog new release date

Clare Franklin has never been lucky in love and on her way to her honeymoon, alone after her fiancée left her for another woman on the day of the wedding, she has decided to give up on it. However, she can’t deny the feelings she is developing for Deacon Montgomery, a man she meets in the resort. But is it just a holiday fling? Or, like her, does he want more? That question seems answered when he suddenly disappears without a word. Deacon is in a panic when he leaves Clare without just a hastily scrawled note left behind reception, one of his twin daughters, daughters he hasn't told Clare about, has been rushed to the hospital. She never contacts him. But he can't stop thinking about her, was it just a holiday fling for her? Or, like him, does she want more?

I think I overloaded on sweet when I was reading this book. Not only did I have to contend with a perfect hero who seemed to always know when to say the right thing. There were also adorable twin toddlers. Then adorable twin newborns. Truly, the cuteness was off the charts disgusting. I’m blaming this book for the pounds I put on that week.

However, as cute as it was I didn’t really find the romance compelling and unfortunately there were parts of the book where I was bored. Clare and Deacon although pleasant characters just weren’t that interesting and after the holiday romance section of the book was over the pace slowed way way down.

There were aspects that I did like, I enjoyed that Deacon was the single parent in this scenario rather than it being the heroine. There’s something very attractive about a man who loves his children.

This was an enjoyable book and if you want something super sweet and adorable to read then this is just what the doctor ordered. However, I think Connor has done a much better job with a single parent holiday romance in her book Worth the Wait, which was one of my favourite reads last year.

Another Home Run!!!

I must say that when I first started reading, I couldn’t help but think how was this story going to be different from several others out there that started off in the same manner. But this story was so much more than I expected. This a must read if you love witty single parent stories!!

Just when I started getting into the book I started to become anxious. Why??? Well I was worried that what I was loving and then not loving was going to last too long and what I wanted to read about I wouldn’t get again til the end of the book and then wham bam, book would be over. I started to read faster because I just wanted this part to be over with and was anxious to see how long I would be in this state of worry!!!!!! Thankfully Ms. Connor didn’t leave me hanging for long!!!!

Back to being non-anxious once again... this is a story that once you pick up you will not put down until you are finished. And then, you want more!!! M&M were adorable and Ms. Connor knows how to perfectly write children into her books!!!

I discovered this author when I read the first book of the McKinney brothers, and readily because a fan.
This book is another example of Ms Connor’s talent.
The story belongs to Clare and Deacon.
Clare is about to walk down the aisle, when her fiancé tells her he met someone else. Devastated , she decides she will go on their honeymoon solo. At the resort she meets Deacon , who is there for a conference. Their accidental meeting leads to a few days of bliss until he leave suddenly and Clare is left feeling abandoned.
What follows is a story that will touch your hearts. It’s heartbreaking , touching and at last heartwarming.
It’s a story about how past experiences do affect our present actions and reactions. A reminder that actions have consequences and that if given a chance, love can heal the heart and the spirit.
A story worth your time. Can’t wait to see what else this talented author has in store for us.

Claudia Connor is a favorite author of mine. She consistently writes heartfelt, emotional stories with the best heroes and compelling heroines. Love at Last is no exception.

Clare Franklin is within minutes of getting married when her fiance calls to say “We need to talk.” The next day, she flies off to a Caribbean island to go on her honeymoon alone, thinking some time by herself on the beach is the perfect place to go to lick her wounds and ponder her future.

In his “non-island” life, Deacon Montgomery is a veterinarian with his own practice, and the busy single father of twin girls. Waiting in line to have dinner at the island resort where he’s presenting at a conference, Deacon gets his shirt button tangled on Clare’s dress. They share dinner, and the next day he finds himself thinking about her when his mind should be on his conference presentation. Having someone to share his life with hasn’t been on his radar for years, but Clare has caught his eye and when the conference is over, Deacon extends his stay so they can spend more time together.

And that is where I will end my story synopsis, because I don’t want to spoil what else happens in this book! But I will tell you that even though there wasn’t anything very original or unique about the plot, I loved Deacon and Clare’s story.

There isn’t much I don’t love about Claudia Connor’s books. Her heroes are the type of men I hope my sons will be when they grow up: gentle, kind and patient with the woman they love, but also decisive and determined. Her heroes make no apologies about wanting to be family men. Sometimes they may not be actively looking, but once they find the one, they are all in and won’t let her go, no matter how much she hesitates. When the heroes get angry, they do so for valid reasons, but don’t fly off the handle and make things worse. Her heroines are kind and sweet, but usually plagued with doubt - which could be an annoying trait, but I think it makes them seem more relatable. Because I think just about every woman, at some point, questions her value in relation to the man she loves...am I enough? will he find someone better? am I reading things correctly? does he love me as much as I love him???

Unfortunately, there was something I was majorly disappointed with. The plot of this book was just too much like her very first book, Worth the Fall. The hero and heroine meet at a beach resort, the heroine has abandonment and insecurity issues, the hero’s family meets the heroine at Thanksgiving and she’s nervous they won’t like her, they are from two different states…. The whole meet at the beach thing has been done by Ms. Connor in three of her six books - which wouldn’t really be a big thing if this was a series built around a resort, or a beach town. But they aren’t. I experienced too many instances of dejavu while reading this story, which made wonder why someone didn’t suggest she maybe change a few details up so they weren’t so similar to the two other books she wrote with essentially the same general plot.

Nonetheless, Claudia has a way of writing that touches my heart and makes me feel what the characters are feeling. If this were your first Claudia Connor book, you’d probably think it was great, with a fantastic plot. If you’ve read everything she’s written, you might find yourself wondering why she’s recycling storylines when you know she’s capable of brilliant storytelling. At any rate, I still loved this story. I may even read it again!

At first it seems there's a lot to like about this contemporary romance: two seemingly decent people find themselves in difficult situations and make the tough choices to do the right thing. Clare and Deacon both have been unlucky in love, both abandoned by others who found someone better. But although the book begins with toe-curling chemistry between a jilted bride and a single father, the plot device that keeps them apart is far too big of a stumbling block for me. Quite simply, Deacon acts like a cad, and all his attempts to later make it right fall short in my estimation. He withholds information repeatedly from the woman he purportedly loves.

Added to Deacon's self-absorption and withholding tendencies, Clare's most defining character trait is that she is endlessly self-effacing, sacrificing all of herself for others. It's difficult to understand how this can lead to an ultimately happy ending. While the two are married by the end of the book (no spoilers there - that's what romance novels deliver), their most likely future isn't a happily-ever-after, but rather a relationship in which all of his sacrifices glorify him as Father of the Year and a God Among Men, while her choices are seen as fulfilling normal expectations of womanhood.

Given my negative opinions of the book -- and my deep respect for the author -- I will not be posting a review (no links added).

Claudia Connor always delivers the sweetest romances with just the right amount of spark and Love At Last was no different.

The story begins with Clare being left at the altar by her groom Adam she decides to go on her honeymoon alone. Right away she meets single Dad Deacon who is on the island for a veterinarian conference. They hit it off right away but Clare did not want to talk about anything that was before or after just the right now. They have loads of fun together and one thing leads to another until they become intimate. But Deacon receives a phone call from home that has him leaving the island in a hurry leaving Clare a note at the front desk. Waking up the next morning Clare thinks Deacon is meeting her for breakfast not knowing that Deacon has left and not receiving the note. She leaves to island to get back to her life not knowing why he left her without a word.

Deacon arrives home to an emergency with one of his 3 year old twin daughters. He began calling the resort but they had not even exchanged last names but he did not give up. Clare arrives home and goes on with life but she is given an unexpected surprise.

Due to Deacon’s persistence he is finally reunited with Clare and does she have a surprise for him. The way that Deacon handled this surprise was simply amazing. They realize that they still have feeling for each other and decide to pursue them and all of the obstacles in their way.

A heartwarming story with a strong hero and heroine, with children, mostly angst free, and a fantastic epilogue!

Any book with Claudia Connor's name on the cover has become an insta-read for me. She's such a wordsmith, particularly in the area of crafting amazingly fleshed-out characters, even in the midst of unrealistic situations. The premise of this story is so cliché, and yet someone the characters are so authentic it transcends the silhouette romance-y tropes.

Clare experiences pretty much the most public rejection there is when her fiancé bails on the day of the wedding. She honeymoons alone, and meets Deacon in a sweet meet-cute. They connect, but lose each other in a Great Misunderstanding that somehow doesn't annoy. There are struggles in their relationship, but the misunderstanding isn't dragged on too long, and their families are imperfect and interesting and authentic in their reactions to the developing situation between Clare and Deacon.

All in all a sexy, sweet romance full of fun kid characters (a huge draw for me with Connor's books!).

I always love Claudia Connor books. Love at Last delivers on the sexy and heat with a healthy dose of sweet.

Claire and Deacon meet on a tropical island while she is solo on her honeymoon- or lady-moon now- and he is the featured speaker at a conference. They enjoy a lighthearted and fun dinner but the chemistry is undeniable. Deciding they can't pass up on what a secluded island promises, Claire and Deacon keep it simply about the chemistry and no outside influences. Which would have been perfect and all had an emergency not have called Deacon away before the two not only exchanged last names but numbers.

While Deacon is frantic to get home to the emergency- Claire once again feels used and not enough in the love department.

These two had a special passion and bond and they felt meant to be. Months of longing and searching turn up empty for Deacon but he can't let it go- he wants to find Claire. Claire's search reveal an untruth that she goes on and leads to even more heartbreak.

Finally- or should I say- AT LAST- common ground is found and Claire and Deacon reunite. Shock is what Deacon finds, but they both realize the feelings from the island are still there. Can they overcome the many obstacles that they now face since the months have past? I love the sweetness that was Deacon's home life and the wonderful man he is revealed to be on top of the sexiness of the island man.

Great read!
