It’s so hard to wait for my favorite witch Darcy Merriweather to appear in her next novel but it’s always worth it. Another great who done it with strong female characters, great plot twists that combines to make a great story. Author Heather Blake has crafted a great cast of characters and continuing story that makes me wish I lived and worked in the Enchanted Village but since I can’t I’ll keep visiting between the pages. Thanks to Net Galley, Heather Blake and her publisher for letting me read the advanced copy of To Catch a Witch.

Another fantastic addition to a stellar series! Heather Blake brings us back to the Enchanted Village where Darcy's been hired through her concierge service to help set up and run the annual race. Stepping into the additional role of Elder inspector, Darcy seems to have her hands full. Throw in new friendships that she finds herself questioning, health issues in the family, and the typical drama of every day life and even the most "got it together" woman is going to run herself ragged. With humor and her unwavering belief in others, Darcy manages to pull it all together and leave us longing for the next book to be released.

Thank you to Heather Blake, NetGalley, and Crooked Lane Books for letting me read this book and share my love for it with others.

Heather Blake enthralls readers with the world of witches and the paranormal she creates in each Wishcraft Mystery.

In this 8th adventure, Wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather, owner of concierge service As You Wish, who also serves as a Craft Investigator of crimes that might involve magic, finds herself challenged by a client project, an investigation and a personal crisis involving her dead mother and very ill sister, Harper.

Abby Stillwell hires Darcy to organize Wicked Mad Dash and on race day Abby disappears. She is finally found, buried in the snow and murdered. So, her client project shifts into a Craft Investigation as Darcy and her fiancé, the village police chief, investigate together: He tends to the human side while Darcy focuses on any magical components.

The personal crisis involves two issues: Her dead mother is the Craft’s Elder, the most powerful witch in the village, and is due to renew her status within a few months; and her sister Harper is very ill and surprised to find she is also pregnant.

Ms. Blake has skillfully fabricated a community inhabited by interesting characters. Mrs. P and Pepe are two mice who eavesdrop on conversations and report back to Darcy. Archie, a parrot, is the Elder’s familiar who loves Pina Coladas and watching TV. Then there’s the issue of who’s a Crafter (witch) and who’s not.

To Catch A Witch is a well-conceived, complex cozy mystery. Lots of red herrings and distractions. A steady pace with a fair amount of tension. The only problem with her books is the fact that the reader wants the next one ready before closing the cover on the current adventure.

Everybody loved Abby so how did she end up dead?

Crooked Lane Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published August 7th.

With a mix of mortals, good witches and a few bad witches, this town has a lot of different people to talk to and about. There are weddings coming up, rumors of a pending elopement, and more and trying to figure out who's telling the truth and who isn't is difficult.

I was amazed by the identity of the killer. With all the suspects, that person wasn't even on my list. I like stories that do that to me. Give it a read and see if you figure it out. Bet you don't!

It's been a long and hard few months with looking for a new job and starting one...moving house...family stuff...and...and....This meant I had no time or energy to read and when things finally calmed down there was only one book, from the 200 or so on my Kindle, that I was eager to read. There was the one that I knew would be a delight to curl up and that I would definitely enjoy. It was the new the new Wishcraft Mystery and it was all I hoped for.

The familiar and so magical setting and people was more than inviting. Of course there is a murder to solve and an ongoing feud but things are still so lovely in this enchanted town. The newest addition to the series was just as good as the previous seven and left me eager for more. I love the ongoing story and the characters involved. I always fall back into the series with no problems at all and never need to be reminded of who is who and what is what.

Another well written mystery and a very satisfying read. It was just what I needed and I enjoyed every moment. Looking forward to more of the same. Fans will be happy with this one and left wanting more.

Wishcraft Mysteries are my all time favorite cozy mysteries! From book 1 I was swept away into the Enchanted Village and fell in love with Darcy and all of her friends!

In To Catch A Witch, book 8 of the Wishcraft Mysteries, Darcy Merriweather is all set to help her friend, Abby Stillwell organize a village competition called the Wicked Mad Dash. With a blizzard moving in, Darcy is preparing herself for the worst...until something worse happens. Abby goes missing. It is much too late to help her friend once Abby is found dead in the snow. Darcy does what Darcy does best .... begins her own investigation which leads Darcy to the startling revelation that she may not know her friend as well as she thought she did. Delving into Abby's personal life dredges us secrets and relationships and a different Abby that Darcy thought she knew so well.

Wishcraft Mysteries are a wonderful world to get lost in and book 8 does not disappoint!

Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read and review the latest from my favorite cozy mystery series!

Darcy Merriweather has her hands full I. Book #8 of the Wishcrafter Series. Darcy’s concierge business is hired by Abby Stillwell to help with the Wicked Mad Dash. The weather is absolutely horrible, but that ends up being the least of Darcy’s worries when Abby goes missing and then is found dead. Everybody loved Abby so it is going to be very difficult for Darcy to help her fiancé Nick figure out who killed Abby. Darcy is soon finding out that she doesn’t know certain people within the village as well as she thought she did. To top it all off, Darcy’s sister Harper has not recovered from her breakup to Marcus and now seems be have more than a broken heart, she’s actually sick. Then there’s the story inside the story. Dorothy and the reasons behind her anger with the Merriweather family and are her children Glinda and Vincent on their Mom’s side or do they think for themselves?

Heather Blake has written a truly enjoyable story. This book is full of twists and turns and has you guessing from one minute to the next who the guilty party might be. There is more going on than meets the eye.

I really enjoyed this book very much. Though this is the first book of Heather Blake’s I have read, I will definitely be reading more!

Darcy was such a fun character. I absolutely love PNR and witches are my favorite. The way the author describes the powers and the town was great , like I was actually there. This was a book full of surprises and interesting mysteries. I am preparing to read the entire series. Thank you for allowing me to read and write about this book NetGalley.

To Catch a Witch by Heather Blake is the eight installment in Wishcraft Mystery series but can be read as a standalone.
This is the first book in the series that I have read but I had no problem getting into the story.
When Darcy's company is hired by elite runner Abby to organize a race in the Enchanted Village she is eager to help. She worries if the race will be a success due to the horribe weather until Abby goes missing and is later found dead.
Darcy starts asking questions only to discover that she new very little about her friend and that everyone surrouning Abby has something to hide and sinisters secrets begin to appear.
Darcy faces many problems and will need help from friends and family and a tiny bit of magic to solve this mystery.
Nicely written, with twist and turns and set of characters is amazing. The setting is fabulous.
I couldn't put it down. Trully magical.

I really enjoyed this book. It's fun to imagine a town full of witches who have different "specialties". I like Darcy and enjoy her interaction with the other characters. It's a whimsical place and sounds quaint. The mystery was enthralling. Why would anyone kill a person that was so kind and it appeared that everyone loved? Finally Darcy gets all the pieces to fall into place. The murderer was not someone I had considered.

Anyone who enjoys cozies will like this book. It is #8 in the series. I would suggest reading them in order because she does mention events from past books. I still figured out what was what, but more info was given on past events that will make it harder to be surprised when I read the other books.

This was the first book I have read by Heather Blake and it was a delightful surprise. The characters were engaging and believable, even with the whole paranormal influence. The mystery was well done and the whimsy in the history of Salem was intriguing. I'm going to go back and read the whole series to thoroughly enjoy the journey, and I look forward to finding out what will happen in future books.

When I was approved for this title, I didn't realize it was #8, so I quickly had to read 7 books before this one, so I wouldn't be lost. Thankfully, the series captured my interest from number 1! Each (including this one) was a fun fast read with a great murder to solve, along with some other mysteries in the lives of the characters.
I personally am in love with the town of Salem, Ma and have visited three times, so obviously I love the setting. The characters have been established now for 7 books prior, and are great. Witches, mortals who have no idea of witchcraft, and those who know, but have no magical powers. Of those with powers, there is a large variety from clothing design to making wishes come true. It creates an interesting setting where anything can happen, and many are clueless to all that is going around them.
In this installment, main character Darcy is working at a race she helped to organize when someone goes missing. It is later determined that she is dead, and possibly murdered. Along with this, there are mysterious illness, including one very close to Darcy. There are also some things hinted at, and unresolved at the end which makes me anxious for the next book!
This book is great for a nice cozy mystery. I definitely recommend reading the other books first, however. The author does summarize what you would need to follow the lives of the characters, however it is a much more exciting experience when you have followed them for a longer time!

For me, there was a lack of build up of tension in this book. In a cozy mystery, I expect to have a build up of tension until the murderer is discovered. I felt like there was nothing at stake for the main character. I just felt there was a lack of plot development. The book moved slow until the murderer was revealed.

I really like Darcy and her crew. I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but I will have to go back and read them now. When Darcy's friend disappears and they later find her body, Darcy starts to investigate. She has the help of her family and friends to unearth the killer. There are plenty of suspects to go around. With a few twists, Darcy does figure it out. Will it be too late for her other friend?

Darcy Merriweather might be a witch with the ability to grant wishes for others, but wishing isn’t going to help her catch a killer…

Darcy’s concierge company is hired by runner Abby Stillwell to organize the Wicked Mad Dash. A running competition that takes place in the Enchanted Village every year. Darcy is more than willing to help her friend. But as blizzard conditions rage on the morning of the race, Darcy’s main concern is the terrible weather. That is until Abby goes missing, and is found dead, buried in the snow.

As Darcy investigates, she learns that she didn’t really know Abby. But those closest to Abby, her secret fiancé, her roommate, her ex-boyfriend, even her co-workers at Balefire Sports have a lot to hide. As Darcy digs deeper, she uncovers complicated relationships, a possible embezzlement scheme, and allegations of cheating against a top athlete.

Series: A Wishcraft Mystery - Book 8
Author: Heather Blake
Genre: Witch/Paranormal Cozy Mystery
Publisher: Crooked Lane Books

Darcy and her family are always entertaining. A bit of an oddball collection it includes, an eccentric aunt, Ve, a mother who has been dead for 25-years, Darcy’s younger sister, Harper, and Darcy’s fiancé and his daughter. Like many families, they have their ups and downs, but for the most part, they love and care for each other. In To Catch a Witch this hasn’t changed, they still love each other and worry about each other but now they might have a little more to worry about..

Darcy loves her family and will go to just about any lengths to protect them. When Harper’s boyfriend chooses to break up with her and breaks her heart, it takes everything Darcy has not to interfere. That is until she realizes how sick Harper is! The mother hen in her is strong, and she sets out to make her sister better. The murder of Abby Stillwell takes second place to Harper’s health.

For Harper’s part, however, her broken heart is about all she can handle, and having Darcy hover over her gets a bit irritating. The Craft hasn’t helped her overcome her heartbreak or her health problems, and she has decided that she wants nothing to do with it. But circumstances aren’t always what they seem, and Harper may have to make a choice that could affect not only her family but the entire village.

The murder of Abby is confusing because everyone loved her, and it doesn’t appear as if anyone had a motive to commit murder. However, as the story moves along the reader comes to see that things are not what they seem even in a town of witches, and the real-life problems of the world aren’t contained to the outside world.

The resolution of the murder and the identity of the killer will surprise many, yet the motive is as old as time and will lay heavily on some readers minds. This installment in the series could be ripped from the headlines of any news organization or paper around the globe. Situations in this book may hit too close to home for some readers.

In To Catch a Witch Heather Blake has crafted a highly entertaining story with lovable, and sometimes troublesome characters that readers adore. Her storytelling is fresh, vibrant and wholesome. This book along with the others in the series keep readers coming back for more and willing to wait in line for the next book. I highly recommend this book, and series, to lovers of paranormal or witch-based cozies everywhere.

Darcy Merriweather is helping her friend, elite runner Abby Stillwell, organize the Wicked Mad Dash which is an annual race in their Enchanted Village. Things are going pretty well until Abby asks Darcy to look at the account books because she thinks she's doing something wrong with the accounts for the race.

Before she can start, a blizzard-filled race day arrives and Abby goes missing. Shortly after, Abby's body is found and Darcy and her boyfriend Nick are on the case to find out who murdered her. Darcy is working the magical side of the case since Abby was a witch and Nick is working the human side of the case since he's the village police chief.

The murder investigation is just one of the plot threads in this eighth book in the series. Another major one has to do with Darcy's sister Harper who is grieving the breakup of her relationship with lawyer Marcus Debrowski because of events that happened in an earlier book of the series. Harper is losing weight and filling her time by joining every club in town. Darcy is worried about her and her worry escalates when she finds her unconscious on her bathroom floor. It turns out the she is suffering from pernicious anemia and is also pregnant. Luckily, Darcy knows a doctor who can magically speed up the healing process.

Harper's pregnancy leads to the third major plot thread. There is a power struggle going on among the witches in town. It is coming up on the time when the Elder needs to pass on her office to her youngest female relative. The Elder is Darcy and Harper's mother who died when Darcy was seven. Harper hasn't embraced her heritage as a witch and may or may not accept the idea that she will be the next elder which seems to be giving this other witch the opening she's been looking for. However, if Harper's baby is a girl, all bets are off and the current Elder will stay in place until the baby is 25.

I liked the story and, despite coming into the series very late, didn't have a problem following the action. It would have been nice to know some of the characters' backstories but it wasn't necessary for my enjoyment of this book. I liked the magical system that was developed in the book. I liked the characters.

A well written mystery which takes you from reality to a delightful fantasy world. This magical story has enchanting characters in a small town setting. Darcy Merriweather is a witch who unfortuneatly can’t use her magic to catch a killer. A definite read for adult fantasy lovers.

I think I actually squealed with delight when I first saw To Catch a Witch. I'm a massive fan of the Wishcraft Mystery series (it's the best cozy series out there) and I was ecstatic to find out there was a new one coming out!

Even though it's been a couple of years since the previous book was released, I was able to slide right into the story, as if no time at all had passed. It felt like coming home. It was such a great feeling and it was so wonderful visiting the Enchanted Village again and catching up with all the quirky residents.

The mystery was excellent and kept me guessing until the end. This might sound weird, but I love it when I can't solve the mystery beforehand. In To Catch a Witch, there were many viable suspects and when I'd think I had it all figured out, something new would come up that had me questioning everything. I thought I'd solved it, but nope, not even close.

To Catch a Witch is an awesome addition to the series. It's a mystery full of heart and magic. I was sad to reach the end, but am so excited for what's to come! I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who loves cozy mysteries.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

I loved this book! I have been reading Heath Blake's Wishcraft series since the beginning so I was thrilled to see that she had a new one. I just love catching up with Darcy and Harper and the whole Village gang. Mrs. P and Pepe might just be my favorite book characters ever. There was a new mystery for Darcy to solve and some interesting foreshadowing for what is to come in future books. The case got solved nicely but there's still some questions about what's going to happen next. I'm so excited for the next book!
