I think I can say that Heather Blake is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I stumbled on book 1 in the Wishcraft series and LOVED it. It was the perfect balance of mystery, paranormal, and fantasy....this one is just as good. Engaging characters, interesting plots, and enough going on to keep you waiting for the next one.

That being said, these can be read on their own, but you will definitely do better reading them in order. Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I enjoyed it enough that I went and put the others in the series in my TBR / wish list pile. The village is charming, the relationships between the characters is interesting (if confusing at times). They mystery is interesting and I'm really interested in knowing how the power struggle works out!

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and will now look for more books in this series and by this author. For me the highest praise I can give is being inspired to read more of an author's work and this author inspired me to do so.

The story was well written. The characters were interesting. The rules of witchcraft were well crafted and as someone starting this series several books in, I didn't feel lost.

I look forward to what comes next.

Love this series and I think this one is the best, so far! Darcy Merriweather agreed to organize the Wicked Mad Dash, but unfortunately a murder disrupts the day. Treading carefully between the witches "crafters" world and that of mortals, Darcy is drawn into investigating...with her police fiance, Nick, concentrating on the latter group. We met and enjoyed many of the characters in past books. Some were main characters then, and now they are part of the tapestry of the village.

The eighth book in the series doesn't disappoint readers! It is packed full of action from a fundraiser race (called the Wicked Mad Dash) to a missing runner to a witch who is undecided if he wants to practice black or white magic yet helps Darcy Meriweather when she needs him, to an elopement, a sudden marriage with Darcy pretending to be the bride so the mother of the bride doesn't find out, to murder, Darcy's sister's life threatening illness and then happy news to a shocking ending, it is a mad dash all the way. No time to rest or stray off course for Darcy or the reader. I couldn't stop reading until the very end. So many interesting things learned about the people in the Enchanted Village. So many secrets!

This series will only make sense if read in order, otherwise you will constantly be wondering who someone is or why they act that way. So if you are new to the world if Enchanted Village and Darcy Meriweather, you are fortunate to have 7 wonderful books to read before this one. As the series continues, it just gets better and better. This book may be my favorite because the author has left so many possibilites open to wonder about until book nine comes along. Anything could happen...and probably will!

I've been following the adventures of Darcy Merriweather and her sister Harper. The cast of characters continues to be entertaining in this 8th of the series. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a single wish granted this time. I always get a kick out of how a simple wish can create such havoc. Even so, this was an excellent read which left me anxiously awaiting the next in the series....a bit of a cliffhanger in this one.

This is the eighth Wishcraft Mystery. In this book, Darcy Merriweather has been tasked with organizing the Wicked Mad Dash. Her friend Abby Stilwell was supposed to participate, but disappears and is later found dead. Darcy sets to work trying to find out who murdered her friend, and ends up uncovering a plethora of secrets that lead her to realize she didn't know her friend as well as she thought.
I love the Wishcraft books, and this one was just as much fun as the rest. The characters are all quirky and delightful, and the ending was surprising. I highly recommend it!

Another adventure with Darcy and her family and friends. Consistently good with familiar characters and a strong plot line, you get drawn into her world as you keep turning the pages. If cozy paranormal mysteries are your thing then give this series a try. Her other books by Heather Webber are also very good. I received this e-book in return for an unbiased review.

This was a light book - good for a beach read. I really liked the setting. It seemed like a typical small village where everyone knows everyone else with the twist of some of the inhabitants practicing witchcraft. It was the second book in the series, and while the first book wasn’t required to enjoy this one, I think it would have helped. For example, early in the book, before the primary characters were known, there were lots of characters introduced with lots of different crafting abilities and lots of different rules. I’m assuming a number of these were introduced in the prior books, so coming into this book, the reader wouldn’t feel as lost as I was. At one point I debated creating a Cast of Characters list. However, by the middle of the book, after the focus was shifted to a smaller group of characters, it became easier to keep track of them.
Another element that was a little annoying was all the rules that the community had, some of which seemed like convent plot points than a true rule of the community. For example, when the main character is interviewing a suspect, she thinks she’d like to ask about X, Y, and Z - which would have made her job easier (and the book shorter), but couldn’t because of rule Ab. An multi-book plot seems to be driven by a couple of this rules. Again, these rules may have been explored in the earlier books (I think I saw this is the 8th book!) more organically, and thus not be as contrived as it feels here.

Overall, a fun book - good for when you’re looking for some light entertainment.

I adore this series and this newest entry didn't disappoint. A fun run turns deadly for a popular woman. In investigating, Darcy realizes that not much is what it seems and she needs to figure out the death before anyone else dies. I love all the characters in this series and even eight biomass in, they're still fresh and fun.

I am biased when it comes to Heather Blake's Wishcraft Mysteries - I love them! I realise that there are at least three books prior to this that I need to read, but I thoroughly enjoyed getting back to the Enchanted Village. Ms Blake is a wonderful writer - she makes it look so easy! - and this installment was not a disappointment.

Darcy has been asked to help organise the Wicked Mad Dash, an annual extreme running race that her friend Abby is participating in. When Abby turns up feeling unwell, Darcy is concerned, but Abby assures her she will be fine. And she is until she disappears. Concerned and worried, Darcy and Nick set about searching and Abby's body is discovered at the bottom of a ravine about a half a mile from the race start/finish line.

As Darcy is the Craft Investigator, she is required to investigate, particularly when she learns this is murder, not just an unfortunate accident. Who would have a reason to kill someone that apparently was loved by everyone?

But all is not as it seems and Darcy has her hands more than full whilst she searches for the killer. There are plenty of secrets and twists that frustrate the search, and Darcy has to care for her sister, Harper, whilst she recovers from an illness, help plan a friend's wedding, and continue to plan for her own wedding which is not far away.

I read this more or less in one sitting - it's exciting, fun, the characters are fantastic and Ms Blake is a terrific storyteller. You won't be disappointed with this installment!

Ebook/ARC/Cozy Mystery: This book has yet to come out, so no spoilers here. I thought this was book 3 of the series, but as I write this, I am learning it is book 8. I could understand a lot of what was going on, but there were aspects I didn't understand because I had not read the previous books. I would like to thank NetGalley for an advanced copy in lieu of an honest review.

I like when I read a book that I want to go live there. This started out with a cute little New England town and the hardcore runners of the snowy town are having a footrace to raise money for one's of the town's sickly children. The town has all the local shops that you could picture with the bakery called the Gingerbread House; no WallyMarts or malls. Then you learn quickly that one of runners has been killed and there's a plethora of suspects because while the town is cute, the people are not. There are a lot of witch politics; some I got easily, some I didn't. I also could not grasp the familiar thing. Who was an animal, who wasn't; who could change back and forth; who was a familiar, but also dead.

I did like Darcy a lot. I did have my doubts during the book that I could ever figure out the murderer before the ending because there were so many suspects. I did not guess the murderer. I kept confusing the characters of Marcus and Duncan while reading because they were mostly off-stage and you don't really get to know them even though they are mentioned all the time.

Even with my confusion, I did like this book a lot. I've been reading a lot of cozy books and I really like the supernatural aspects added in that spices up the plot. While there was none of the witty banter that I love so much, the writing was crisp and to the point. There were several offshoot storylines and they all were tied-up by the end, except for one. I can recommend this series and I do plan on looking out for this author some more.

Darcy and everyone in the Village are without a doubt my favourite friends to visit with. I absolutely adore the creativity, and masterful story telling each of these novels provides. Whenever I am fortunate enough to visit the Village I am transported into a delightful world of magic and intrigue. Each new installment is always a thrill for me, knowing I will get to visit with a marvelous cast of characters. I highly recommend this series to everyone who enjoys a mystery and a bit of magic!

I was provided a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much to Crooked Lane Books for keeping this series alive, and allowing me the opportunity to read and review for them.

A whole community of innately talented people, some born with it and some who acquired it. That's the community for Darcy Merriweather, a Wishcrafter who can make other's wishes come true which she puts to use as an Event Planner and this time she has been hired to help plan and run a 5K run. Unfortunately the race director turns up dead before the race even starts. So many secrets running around town. Secret weddings, secret wedding plans, secret illnesses, secret secrets. To get to the bottom of this mystery Darcy will have to pull out all the stops as the Inquisitor and leave no rock unturned. Great story from beginning to end with a story line that flowed and I had no idea who was responsible until the author chose to reveal it. Had me guessing the whole time.

In this new book Darcy has been hired by local Abby Stillwell to organize the Wicked Mad Dash, an event that pushes athletes up against all kinds of obstacles including bad weather hence the Mad in the title. With blizzard type conditions in the mix this year Darcy hopes that everything will go off without a hitch and will be relieved when its over with no casualties. After the race is has been completed Darcy realizes that Abby hasn't been seen since before the race started and pulls together search parties to look for the young woman. When she is found dead at the bottom of a gorge she must figure out whether it was just an accident or if someone had it in for Abby. When it is determined that Abby was killed Darcy takes her job as the Elders investigator seriously and begins asking questions and looking for clues. Follow along as Darcy deals with her heartbroken sister, an enemy to her family, a drunk bird all the while searching for a killer. This is such a lovely series that is filled with unique characters, a fabulous setting, and a story line that is truly well written. With each new book I've gotten to know the characters, their personalities, and who they really are. This new book had me sad at moments, happy for sure, and on edge wondering what would happen next.

I admit this is the first book in this series I have read. I requested this item because I knew if I did get the chance to review it that I would put off everything else to read it. I am so happy that I did. This book was a wonderful cozy mystery with my favorite thing…magic. After reading just this one book I will be going back to read all that have come before it, because I am sure I missed something.

I am so thrilled to start the week off with a review of Heather Blake's To Catch A Witch. This one is out in August and thrilled me to no end! I love everything about this series and am indebted to Crooked Lane Books for continuing this wonderful long running series. From page one I was enchanted and transported back to the Village in the middle of winter, back with Darcy and her family. Concern and anxiety griped me surrounding the relationship with her sister in only a way that Heather could right. That "big sister" relationship is so well written and Darcy treats her sister the way I would mine. A sad and complexing murder in the village during a race that Darcy is helping with complicates things in the village while there is a undercurrent of dark magic and a nefarious plot for taking over power of the village too. There was so much to love in this book and I was so sad and yet excited, when I finished it, knowing I will have to wait so long now to find out just what will happen next!

Another outstanding entry in the Wishcraft Mystery series! I love all these books and have read and reread them several times. The characters are interesting and fun, and the world that Heather Blake creates is one I'd love to live in, especially if I could have some wishcrafter powers myself.

In this book, Darcy has to put together the annual Wicked Mad Dash. When one of the runners is found dead, the Elder asks her to investigate. The plot has some twists and turns, and there's a lot going on in the personal lives of the characters to catch up on from previous books.

I can't say enough about this series. I highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Darcy, Harper, Aunt Ve, and the crew are back after a long break and you won't be disappointed!

As Darcy and Nick plan their wedding, other couples in the Enchanted Village are taking a much shorter route to the altar as elopement seems to be the theme. Who knew marriage could be so deadly?

I've truly missed this series and have tried to patiently wait for this new installment and love where life is taking the Harper ladies. Can't wait for the next installment. A perfect book for Summer reading!
