I received a free copy of To Catch a Witch by Heather Blake in exchange for an honest review. Wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather’s concierge business has been hired to run a local charity sporting event. However, the success of the event is sullied by the murder of one of the organizers. Since the deceased was a crafter, Darcy must investigate. The investigation is complicated because the young woman was beloved by the community, so it is difficult to find anyone with motive for the homicide. Darcy fumbles about; blinded by what she expects to be true, can Darcy overcome her expectations and clear her vision in time to prevent another death? The hunt for the killer brings revelations about all involved; deception, prejudice, and secrets are all unveiled.

At the same time, Darcy’s family is struggling. Her sister has been mentally, emotionally, and physically devastated by the break-up with her boyfriend. The future of Darcy’s family is threatened not only by machinations of enemies of old but also from within.

I have been looking forward to this book for awhile now. Having read it, I am anxious to get the next in the series. I enjoyed my return the Enchanted Village and its residents. I recommend this series to those who love paranormal cozy mysteries.

A murder mystery with a well developed story line.
The author achieves a perfect correlation between subplots and characters.

The stakes get higher and things get even more complicated in this book. How long do I have to want for the next one???

I always forget how much more than a cozy mystery this series is when I see the covers which are whimsical and cute. Light and fluffy are not the words for this installment. Maybe this entry in the series is the most impactful. It deals with prejudice...racism really, more than one type of personal tragedy and loss. The death of one of the town's residents almost loses center stage.

That's not to say the average reader will feel depressed after reading this book. Vera and Archie (and Tom) provide some lightness.

Darcy has been asked to help put together the village's tenth annual Wicked Mad Dash by Abby Stillwell. An avid competitor, Abby shows up to the race looking definitely under the weather, but determined to go on. Darcy soon learns that other people have been taken ill, including her own sister, Harper. But then when Abby goes off to warm up, and then does not complete the race, everyone is concerned about her whereabouts. Between searching for Abby and trying to cope with Harper's sickness (as well as her depression from her recent romantic breakup), Darcy has her hands full. But when tragedy strikes, she realizes that, as Craft Investigator, she needs to get involved. But this is not going to be easy, between potential suspects reluctant to be truthful, and her own unsettled relationship with one or more members of the community, Darcy needs to tread lightly. This is a fun series, full of twists and turns, as motives and suspects are put forth. I love the new relationships that Darcy has developed, including that with former foe, Glinda. And Pepe and Mrs. P. are adorable as always. Can't wait for #9. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing this book received through NetGalley.

It's alway nice to read a book in the Wishcraft Mystery series. It's fun to read about the development in the life of the characters.
This is one of the best in the series with a very good mystery and some interesting development in the main characters life.
As usual it's full of tenderness and humour creating a special mix.
Strongly recommended.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Crooked Lane

A fair story about the witch Darcy and her community. When her friend gets killed she tries to find out who it was that did it, and why. Interesting to a point, but it may just be my age (over 50), but felt I was not the intended audience for this book. Back when I was in my 20s I think I would have enjoyed it more. Would recommend,

Reading a Wishcraft book is like a visit with good friends. It was a perfect read for a cozy Sunday. I look forward to each book release and this one didn't disappoint. It's winter and Darcy's latest job is to manage the Mad Dash Run with her friend Abby. Unfortunately sometime during the race Abby goes missing and later is found murdered. It's up to Darcy and Nick to figure out who murdered the woman that everyone loved and didn't seem to have an enemy in the world. Meanwhile Darcy has to help a sick Harper who is heartbroken over a break up with Marcus and also try to keep Vince in line. Vince has taken to some dark magic and some dirty tricks including causing a lot of problems on race day. What keeps me reading this series is the characters and the writing. The characters start to feel like family and it's fun to keep up with Auntie Ve's and Archie's antics and watch Darcy's relationship with Nick mature. Glinda has really developed into a much better person but her mother Dorothy is as wicked as ever. Darcy also has the added complication of the Elder's position being in danger of not being renewed. Darcy makes it her job to try to help everyone. She doesn't always need magic to do it. It's her heart and hard work that get the job done. If you want to read a fun mystery and lose yourself for a day this book is the perfect way to do it. Even if you haven't read the rest of the series you will still enjoy this book and getting to know the crafter's village.

I loved To Catch a Witch as much as I have any book in the wonderful Wishcraft series. These books feel more like cozy mysteries than paranormal since witchcraft may be involved but it is not the instrument of murder. Darcy has to use her intelligence to work her way to the resolution; her craft does not offer skills to aid her, but there are a few special aids that she does call on here and there. Those witch aids make the story even more fun for me. I love nontraditional cozy mysteries which is how I classify this book. The story is great but the murder does shroud the plot in sorrow since the victim is such a good person and because…, well the other part you will have to discover as you read.
When a friend is murdered, Darcy quickly zeros in on a group of suspects but finding evidence to follow proves extremely difficult. The effort Darcy and Nick put into uncovering the murder is complicated by the fact that several people are obviously hiding something important. Harper has a health scare, or should I say those her who love Harper have a health scare since she refuses to take their concerns seriously. We all know how stubborn Darcy’s sister can be.
I was excited to get an Advanced Readers Copy of To Catch a Witch from NetGalley. It is my delight to share my enjoyment with my fellow readers.

Wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather, proprietor of As You Wish, has her hands full trying to pull off the Wicked Mad Dash in the midst of a blizzard. Add in the murder of her friend, more suspects than seem possible, the mysterious illness of her sister Harper, and a threatened coup by the wickedest witch of the Enchanted village, and Darcy may be in over her head.

To Catch a Witch, the eighth in Heather Blake’s magical Wishcraft mystery series, is pure enchantment. Ms. Blake captured my interest from page one and did not fail to delight throughout. This is one of my favorite series and one that I hope continues for years to come!

I received an advance copy from Net Galley in return for an honest review.

To Catch a Witch by Heather Blake was an amazing addition to Ms. Blake's Wishcraft Mystery series. I cannot put into words how much I enjoy this series. I've been able to read each in the series and this one did not disappoint me.

Ms. Blake's writing flows smoothly and is so descriptive that I always feel like I am back in the Enchanted Village visiting old friends. The plot was quickly paced with lots of twists and turns. There were a few small subplots regarding relationships both romantic and magical in the village but nothing that detracted from the mystery. In fact, I was completely caught up in the story from the first page until the end. Oh and that ending already has me wanting to read the next one now. If you like reading cozy mysteries based in a paranormal world, you are going to enjoy this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own. I would like to sincerely thank Crooked Lane Books for allowing me to read and review.

Darcy has been hired to help with this year's Wicked Mad Dash, but not everything goes as planned.

Darcy is a Wishcrafter, being able to use her magic to grant the wishes of others - not of the craft.

A cozy mystery that packs more than a few punches, Heather Blake has created characters that everyone will love. While this book is number eight in a long series of books, the author provides enough backstory to keep you in the loop while simultaneously making you wonder if you should just put this one down right now in case you missed something really good in the earlier books.

With enough small town drama to keep everyone entertained as well as several tangled backstories, this cozy mystery will have you wrapped around it's finger in the first few pages. Well done!

Speechless. This book is amazing. Just when I think I've read the best book in the series, Heather crafts another masterpiece that blows me away, and this book is no exception. I can't get enough of this series. Got my mom hooked on it, too.

This is such a fun series and I feel I get way too excited whenever the latest installment comes out! The characters in this latest addition are definitely growing and the author shows that perfectly! I love how they have all either come together or apart and how the relationships between them are moving along, especially with all the conflicts. The mystery was great! The twist on the whodunit and how it got there was fantastic! Plus the little subplots keep you wanting more. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for everyone next time!

To Catch a Witch is a wonderful return to the Wishcraft Mystery series. We find Darcy's business, As You Wish, aiding in the local Wicked Mad Dash marathon when a blizzard blows in and a friend goes missing. Unfortunately, Darcy's friend, Abby, is soon found murdered. The investigation of Abby's murder leads to the discovery of gossip, secrets, and long held prejudices.

This book was a perfect read and a well thought out who-done-it that kept me on the edge of my seat. I always enjoy reuniting with the Enchanted Village and all it's inhabitants.

Completely love Heather Blake and this series. I so want to visit the village every time I read (and read again) one of the stories. Well written as always with super fun characters. Love the details of the craft woven into the story. Makes me want to be a witch for real!

Oh, Baby! This was a good one. Darcy is helping Abby set up and run the annual Wicked Mad Dash. She keeps encountering issues including food poisoning (courtesy of Vince testing his dark magic). Once the race starts and Abby is nowhere to be found Darcy is frantic and with cause. Abby turns up murdered at the base of ravine and Darcy is trying to find her murderer. Lots of twists and turns as Abby was loved but there is a lot going on including embezzled funds, an ex-fiancé who had his memory cleansed and you get the idea. Did not figure out until the very end. Very fast read and side story about the Elder and the succession of the Elder and an apparent fight of good versus evil coming up to the village. Do not want to give too much away on that. Cannot wait for the next installment. This series is an automatic for me so highly recommend.

Darcy Merriweather and her cohorts are back in the newest Wishcraft book. Hired to run the Wicked Mad Dash in the Enchanted Village, Darcy is dealing with vendors and blizzard like conditions--and murder. When Abby, who hired Darcy for the event, goes missing, then is later found dead, Darcy is on the case. Between solving the murder, planning a wedding, trying to take care of a stubborn and sick sister, Darcy definitely has her mittens full. Lots of twists and turns in this book make for a compelling mystery. I really enjoyed this so much, and was left with the same feeling when I was done--I wish I lived in Enchanted Village!
This is the eighth book in the series, which really does need to be read in order, but it was awesome!
