Cailey and Theo has a brief history but when it was clear that they would never be together Cailey set her sights else ware to become a nurse. When a earthquake takes up things in a major way she goes back to her hometown to see where she is needed. Little did she expect to run into Theo, even more so that they would end up spending the night together leading to some unexpected consequences. Things get even more so complicated while they try to work everything about their relationship out.

This book is pretty typical and yet enjoyable. Its simple and easy to find myself falling into it. I read this book within hours and enjoyed seeing how the characters worked together and how they worked on solving their issues. I liked that there was enough drama to keep things interesting. I liked getting to know the characters and loved how the book ended. This was just a nice story to escape into while.

3 1/2 STARS!

With the first book in the new Hot Greek Docs series, Annie O'Neil brings us Dr. Theo Nikolaides's story. He doesn't think he's cut out to be a family man, so when a short-lived fling leads to a baby, he's not exactly thrilled about the situation. The ground work was laid well for each book to come in the series by giving tidbits of info on the partnership they all share in the clinic and glimpses into what the other guys do elsewhere. I'm looking forward to reading more!

When nurse Cailey Tomaras hears that a terrible earthquake has hit the Greek island she calls home, she heeds the call for help and rushes home to help her countrymen. She thought she was prepared for seeing Theo again but he is even more potent in person than she remembered! She doesn't fit into his world, but that never stopped her heart falling for him!

Doctor Theo Nikolaides went against his high society family to run the clinic on Mythelios so there would be medical care for all who needed it. Now that the earthquake has caused so many injuries, he needs every helping hand he can get. He's thrilled to see Cailey, but is met with a lukewarm greeting from her. Evidently things happened before she left the island that he wasn't in the know about ... can he convince her that he's not such a bad guy after all?

Cailey's mom was a housekeeper and worked for Theo's father. Growing up, both Theo & Cailey were in each other's lives and they had a crush on each other but Theo's Father interfered & manipulated them because he didn't think Cailey was good enough for his son. Cailey, believing the lies, left the Greek Island she called home to study in London where she became a pediatrics nurse. Theo is now the Chief Medical Doctor of the island's clinic.

When an earthquake occurs, Cailey comes home to help with the wounded. There she meets up with Theo who has never forgotten her. One thing leads to another and she becomes pregnant with his baby.

Cailey has dyslexia and she doesn't feel good enough to be with Theo who comes from a rich family because of the way his father acted before and how he is making trouble again for them now. This is a story of second chances and other life lessons with a sweet HEA. I loved it.

There's nothing technically wrong with this story. The writing is good and the pacing flows well. Except the trope and I don't get along very well. Second chance romances and I are not friends. We haven't been for a while and lately, I'm even less patient and less forgiving of it. A lot of people love the second chance romance trope but it's my least favorite trope. I won't go into the reasons why it doesn't agree with me here because that will be an entire long blog post. Suffice it to say that as well written as this story is, the trope didn't work for me and I kept thinking as the story unfolded before me that I really didn't want to be reading this. I got as far as Cailey and Theo's reunion and instant attraction to each other. The memories of what might have been, the longing, the regret, the remnants of a teenage crush, and Cailey's insecurity at being shunned and minimalized by Theo's father. Between Cailey's low self-esteem and Theo's father's awfulness, I couldn't get myself to read beyond the 20% I managed. Cailey is still attracted to Theo. She has never stopped loving him, but struggles with feeling inadequate and the negativity of her internal dialogue did her no favors to my mind. I did skip to the end and read the ending. The showdown between Theo and his father was epic, and I'm glad Cailey and Theo finally found their happy, but this is a romance after all so you know that's meant to happen. All I have to say is if you enjoy Harlequin's Medical romances and enjoy the second chance romance trope, you might enjoy this one.

This is Nikolas and Cailey’s story. She was the housekeeper’s daughter. She was run off by his rich father. The Greek island they grew up on had an earthquake. She is a nurse. He is a doctor. She comes to help at his clinic. They have a night of passion. She forgets to take the morning after pill. They have many misunderstandings in their relationship. It was a great fast read.
