This has been another sweet small town Texas story from Audrey Wick and I really enjoyed reading it. It’s actually the first book in a duo called The
Texas Sisters but stands alone fine. I read book two before reading this one and there were absolutely no issues.
Finding True North stars newly divorced mother Paige Frederick, who is doing her best to be all things to her two year-old son Nathan. His father didn’t want children and doesn’t show any interest in the little boy, making Paige’s efforts all the more important.
Everett Mullins had a crush on Paige when they were in high school though she knew nothing about it. Years later is is back in small town Seguin to help his parents as his mother goes through treatment for cancer. He’s a widower and still mourning the loss of his wife when he bumps into Paige in the local grocery store.
These two click immediately and both learn to live again. Feelings that neither expected start to grow though a lie during their first meeting impacts on the way Paige interacts with Everett.
This story flowed well from start to finish. With family playing an important role throughout it really endeared itself to me. A truly lovely read!

This is my first book from this author and it won't be my last. It was a really fun quick easy read and I really enjoyed it. This was a really good second chance romance and is Paige and Everett story these two have known each other since they were kids but have not seen each other in a while. They bump into each other just after she has gotten her divorce while chatting she tells him a lie as they get to know each other that lie comes to light now he is unsure if he can trust her. This was a really cute read.

Not quite sure what to make of this one... I liked it but felt it could do with some editing. There was too much extraneous detail (for example about water rights) that popped up at sort of random places and some of the phasing was stilted. I also felt that Paige was very much a martyr to her divorce as if she wore a scarlet letter and bore incredible shame. It also seemed highly unlikely that in a small town she was able to hide her divorce and her son from Everett for so long. All that said, they were a sweet couple and the road to trust between them tugged the heartstrings. I thought Everett’s parents were great characters but would have liked more backstory on Paige’s ex Barry and on Danica, her friend. Looking forward to the next in the series though.

I think this story had great potential, but you lost me when Paige lies to Everette. The blurb says it's a "little white lie" but to me it's anything but little. I think I could understand more if the story was historical and from a time when divorce was shunned. But really? In today's day and age, it's almost (unfortunately) common. I'm less bothered with the fact that she lied and more bothered by what the lie was. To come up with something like that...something so tragic just to save face? Yeah, you lose me immediately.

Needless to say DNF.

This is the first book I have read by Audrey Wick. If I am not mistaken, Finding True North, the first in the Texas Sisters Series, may be Audrey's first published novel. It was very interesting and I thought very well written. She does a great job of developing the characters in her story. The small town atmosphere of Sequin, Texas was one many could appreciate. Her main character Paige Frederick is a recently divorced young mom. In the first scene of the book she has just left the court house signing her final divorce papers. Stopping by the local supermarket, she literally runs into an old high school classmate. Everett Mullins is in town for an extended stay to help take care of his aged mom, who is going through some rough chemo treatments. Of course Everett, being the shy guy that he was in high school, had a crush on Paige but never said anything. He was afraid to pursue her since she was a very popular cheerleader. They make a lunch date for the following week and nature or fate takes over from there. Will Everett get his second chance to find love with Paige? I found this to be a nice clean love story that I truly enjoyed reading. I would highly recommend it. I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishers through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The story was dull for me. I did not read more than half of it. I only read the characters' lines and got the gist of what was happening. I considered not to finish the book but decided to give it a chance. This is not for me, I guess.

I really enjoyed reading Finding True North by Audrey Wick, book one in The Texas Sisters series. This is my first book by Ms. Wick, but definitely not my last. This sweet and wonderful story is about two lost souls and a white lie that could destroy a future between them. Paige loves living in her small town, riding her bike nearly everywhere, and working near the courthouse square. After her divorce, she believes she is the focus of the gossip mill as well as her neighbors. The day her divorce is finalized and she gains full custody of her 2-year old son she runs into Everett, a former high school classmate while she is grocery shopping. Everett has temporarily returned to his hometown to help care for his ailing mother and run the family farm. Paige was his high school crush and while talking during their unexpected run in, Paige lied to him. Paige and Everett meet for lunch and text back and forth, building the foundation of a relationship. Once Everett learns of the lie he is unsure that he can trust Paige. As Paige begins a new life, can Everett help her find her direction?

I loved seeing the growth Paige and Everett gained from spending time together. They made each other happy, putting smiles on their faces and feeling more satisfied with their lot in life. Everett was a compassionate hero who while living with memories of his late wife was in need of loving and trust from Paige. Paige needed to trust her instincts more and believe she could do it on her own. These two were so perfect for each other, helping each other find their true north.

I totally loved reading this book and didn’t want to put this book down. Ms. Wick wrote a wonderful story which drew me in, making me forget the world around me and did not let me go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other reader and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Finding True North by Audrey Wick a new to me author. This book is first in the Texas Sister's series. A story of a newly divorced mother who meets up with someone from her past. A possible second chance at romance. I enjoyed the characters, dialogue and storyline. Look forward to seeing what the next book brings us.

Finding True North is a small-town second chance romance that tells the story of Paige and Everett, with slightly more emphasis on Paige. Both are likeable lead characters, and there's a wealth of secondary characters.
It is a very every day type of story, and it is probably great for readers that like a slower and more realistic plot. However, it was just okay for me.

I had some trouble getting behind the key lie that drove much of the story, and the secondary characters and plot points didn't really go anywhere in particular. The novel is life-like in that regard: not everything follows a clear path and not everything is wrapped up neatly. However, that meant that I felt very little resolution, and despite liking the characters, I just couldn't get very emotionally involved.

Finding True North is the first book I have read written by Audrey Wick. I found it to be an enjoyable, drama rich romance. The characters were likable. Paige especially is a complex character. Everett is just as he said, a straight forward simple individual. The supporting characters were for the most part charming, complex and realistic.

Paige and Everett made a wonderful couple. Other than Paige’s lie in the beginning, she is a charming if private person. I didn’t really understand why she said what she did in this day and age. If this had happened in the 1950’s maybe I would have understood it better. It is the cause of the main conflict in the story. Perhaps Everett would not have been interested in her if he knew the truth, but I don’t see him as that kind of man. There is also a second subplot going on that is really a bigger conflict but has nothing to do with the romance between Everett and Paige.

All in all I enjoyed this sweet romance that quietly, developed the relationship between the two main characters. I did wish for an epilogue or something more at the end. After the slow build up it seemed to finish too quickly for me. Perhaps in a sequel there will be glimpses of this couple since Finding True North is the first book in a new series. Small-town sweet romance fans will find this book a pleasure to read. Now which of the women close to Paige will get their story next?

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Excellent book! Being well written with great characters that are well developed mad the story a nice easy read.

Paige and Everett are two people who have loved and lost in the past and aren't really looking for anything new. Yet love can find you when you least expect it and it found these two hard and fast. Problem is there is a little white lie between them that could put what they found at risk before it ever really begins.

I highly recommend this one.

Paige and Everett had both loved and lost before and now they are trying to start a new relationship with lies and lies by omission hindering their way to happiness.
This author wrote real smooth, connecting things easily and writing conversations and emotions which rang true making this an enjoyable read.

In a small town everyone not only knows your name but your business, especially business that has destroyed your image of yourself. And there really is no getting away with a lie because eventually someone, if not yourself, will spill the truth in a way that you don’t want to happen. These are details that Paige forgot when she unexpectedly runs into her high school crush in the grocery store on the day her divorce is finalized. One little white lie or maybe two if you count by omission and what could have been changes into what almost was unless she can make her mistake right.

While there are many aspects of Finding True North that I enjoyed, there was also the fact that I had a difficult time connecting with or understanding Paige’s actions. The white lie she impulsively decided to tell would have larger ramifications because of the nature of it and Everett’s life experience. And a relationship begun based on a lie is going to have a harder road to travel to that happy ending. I enjoyed the world built, the secondary characters and Everett. I’ll continue the series to discover what happens next, but I wish I could have connected with Paige.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Paige is starting over and has this overwhelming feeling to keep things personal and not on display for her small home town. When she tells a little white lie she quickly realizes that she may be in to far in over her head. Everett comes back home to help his ailing parents but when he runs into his high school crush he is reminded of what he doesn't have. I mean what can go wrong. Can the two find what they are seeking or will a secret two the two of their lives apart?

This book was a fun read. I yelled at the characters, and wonder where the author was going with this "lie". I laughed at some of the fun and craziness of the characters, especially Ruby and Dale you really never know what is coming out of there mouths. I cried and could really connect with some of these characters. I loved how this book was a good clean read, this would be a great read for all. I have never read anything from Audrey Wick and now I can't wait for more. This book was super fun read and you won't regret the read.

This was an enjoyable read. I liked the longer length too. I received this in exchange for an honest review on NetGalley. The story is about Paige who has just become divorced and Everett who she knew in high school. Everett has come home to help care for his mother for a month. They meet again in a supermarket during a power outage and Paige lies and tells Everett she is a widow, not divorced and says nothing about her young son Nathan. The plot has them meet for a few “dates”, then Paige tells Everett she’s really divorced not widowed. We learn that Everett is actually widowed and he walks away when he learns the truth about Paige. The story further details their trials and both of their feelings. The end was nice, albeit abrupt. I rated it 4stars.

Finding True North is a great read. Paige is a single mom trying to start over and move on with her son. You feel for her struggle to hold it together and not be ashamed of being a divorcee. Everett is back in the area to help care for his mom. You can sense there is more going on with him. Reconnecting and getting to know each other you feel for how Paige is struggling with her little white lie. You see a blooming relationship and you just hope that this is the love for both to help heal. Forgiveness, trust, love and acceptance are just some of what you get through out this journey of theses two. A wonderful start to this series and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Paige bumps into Everett just hours after her divorce is finalised, but in that initial she tells one small lie.
The rest of the book is told from both of their points of view, as they start to meet as friends and quickly realise they want more, but their relationship is based on a lie and Paige needs to tell the truth and face the consequences.

Life has a way of not always following the same path we want it to follow and veers off into unforeseen places. This is what has happened to Paige-freshly divorced mother of two year old Nathan, finding herself where she never envisioned. A simple lie about her status jumbles what could be the start if a nice relationship with high school friend, Everett. He harbors his own secret-too recent and painful to voice. The question is whether her lie and his secret will eventually destroy everything for them.
