I noticed this title pop up on social media, so I wanted to get my hands on a copy. I had read and enjoyed The Vicar’s Daughter.

This story continues with Lenora’s story. She’s not residing in Bath with her Aunt Gwen and teaching music as a school for girl. Lenora is also naive and is now sneaking out dressed as a man to sit by the river at night, which has become her place of solitude. Her false sense of security is shattered when a stranger catches her at the river. Their paths cross again at the school, and Lenora’s quiet life becomes quite a challenge. Will she rise to it, or run away again when things become too hard?

I loved this book. You really got a sense of Lenora’s personality, and found her admirable. I also liked Aiden and his niece Catherine, and I rooted for them to find their happy ever after.

I received an ARC.

This is the companion novel to The Vicar's Daughter. I think they should definitely be read in order. There is so much to the story that a new reader would be missing. Miss Wilton is a good character. I liked to see the growth she went through. A fun historical romance.

Romance, period, clean
While I labeled this as a series, it is just the telling of a character from another book, it really is a stand alone read.
This was a definite 3.5 for me as a reader. I loved the basic premise of the book. A few things didn't ring quite true to me, or I might have given it a stronger marks. That being said, Lenora, the heroine was a strongly written character. She was a character in another novel by J.K.. You feel for her weaknesses and worries, her heart, and love her passions. The setting was interesting, the side characters were medium for me. I loved the Aunt, but wished that the girl was described more. Aiden Asher was another good character, you feel his desire to do the write thing, and follow his heart as he fights the societal expectations and rules and tries to find happiness for his niece, and for himself.
Enjoyable read.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
