It took me everything to get to half of this one… and I quit. I Simply went to another book and never came back… unfortunatly for this book. I did not like the world it was set in. It just did not interest me and once this happens, I just can't go on… it stops captivating. me.

First of all, I really expected more from this story.  As a Robin Hood retelling, set in a dystopian world, it took me well past the midpoint to start seeing the concept behind the story.  I see the potential more in the sequel because there will be no need to spend as much time on world-building to the extent of this first one.

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the world and the attention to detail that was included, but in some parts, it did drag out the pace of the story a bit too much.  Also, if the pace wasn't as slow, then I might not have gotten tired of reading.

Indra was the most interesting character, and, for someone who went through as much as she did, she is strong as hell.  It really is no wonder she became the way she did.  I also like that she is flawed and portrayed as 'human' (not perfect); with conflicting thoughts and emotions.

There are a lot of side characters, like her mother and sister, best friend, the man in her life, and so many others.  These characters are for sure developing with the pace of the story too.

All in all, I'd say that, if not for the pacing of the story, I would have liked this so much that it would've gotten 4 stars.  But not all books can be incredible.  And since dystopians are not often books I reach for, this was quite good.  I am sure Kate will step up her game in book two and surprise us all...
