Yay! A fantastic read from a new-to-me author! it was so fluffy and romantic. I can't wait to read more books from her!!

She never should have come here. Twice a week, Lily Moore comes to work for me, stealing my breath with her light and beauty and sweetness. She doesn't know the dangerous path she's on. All she knows is that I am a reclusive artist living on a crumbling estate. That I am scarred, broken by life. A beast . . . Lily ignites a hunger unlike anything I've known, one that could shatter the isolated world I live in. Even as I see the same longing for me in her oh-so-blue eyes, I know she belongs to another---one who does not deserve her. But it's just a matter of time before the tension between us breaks. For this beast will have what he desires. To hell with the consequences. This is my world . . . and I will claim my beauty.
This was a take on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale. It was a bit of a slow burn, if you like that sort of thing. Both characters were interesting enough. Lily got on my nerves a bit. Overall it wasn’t a bad read.

This was my first time reading a book by Sofia Tate & I look forward to reading other books by her! I liked two of the main characters, Grayson & Lily. I loved how protective and caring Grayson was of Lily and how supportive he was of her. Lily is a smart and caring character who was able to look past Grayson's scars and see him for who he was. I loved that about her and how she would try to help Grayson deal with his past and overcome his fear of being out in public and around people. I also liked Lily's mom, Joan, she is smart, caring and strong. One character I did not like is Lily's boyfriend, Reed as he was abusive, a liar, cheater and not a good guy for Lily. This was a good intro to Sofia Tate's talent in writing and story-telling and I enjoyed it!

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to any who’ve read my reviews, but the whole Beauty and the Beast trope is one of my favorites and the mass majority of the time I will jump at the chance to read a book that is influenced by that particular fairytale because I love watching as the “Beast’s” heart is exposed through simple, and sometimes surprising, actions of the “Beauty” and they slowly connect and fall in love. So when this one popped up I was all in and looking forward to experiencing this authors take on the fairytale.

Unfortunately, this one fell short for me.

There are multiple reasons for why it didn’t work for me, but the biggest one, and the one that they are all tied to, was that there was no flow to the story for me. Everything just felt choppy to me and I couldn’t connect with the main characters because I never felt like I had a true handle on them and their personalities because their moods flip flopped so much it kinda gave me whiplash. And as far as the romance between Lily and Grayson, I just didn’t feel it. There was no true build up for me and when they fell, it wasn’t a thing for me. I got what was supposed to be the pull between them, but it felt forced. And as for the whole Reed sitch...that just annoyed me because it felt like it overshadowed the romance between Lily and Grayson.

While this one didn’t work for me, there were bright spots. I liked Emilia, Skylark and Joan and the energy they brought to the story and I did like how Grayson didn’t totally change overnight just because he found love. I wish that these things could have saved the story for me, but they didn’t. I have seen some of the other ratings for this book and it seems that either you loved it or you didn’t, so while it didn’t work for me, it may for you.

If you enjoy a good beauty and the beast story like I do then this book is for you. I just loved Lily she was a super character when she loses her teaching job due to cuts she takes a job cleaning for Grayson who is a local artist and a recluse due to an accident as a child that left him terribly scared. This was a really good book and a smoking hot read I really liked it and am looking forward to reading more from Sofia in the future

I have chosen not to read/review this title.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read an early copy, however I was not able to connect with the characters in this one, and I didn't really feel any chemistry with them.

Thanks,
Laura

Aw "His Beauty" made my heart hurt it was just so charming and heart-warming in all its entirety.
So, If a book or movie mentions beauty and the beast at all in its blurb or comparison then I'm totally sold on the concept and seen as this is my all-time favourite fairy tale I so couldn't justify passing the opportunity up to add another notch to my already overflowing belt.
So this was a rather easy read that's simplicity just worked.
And I was ecstatic that this ultimately turned out to be a winning experience for me as got to say my last few themed reads have totally crashed and burned.
This did not.
"His Beauty" took an old classic and revived it with a fresh modern sexy spin.
Dragging this "beauty and the beast" themed read kicking and screaming into the current century.
And with Grayson and Lily being such relatable individuals you couldn't help but fall deeply in love with the whole journey these two lovers took towards there own personal HEA.
Grayson was a tortured scarred recluse waiting grumpily in the wings of his mansion for that special someone that could see past his scars and inner wounds and pull him out of the darkness into the light.
Lily was that light and deserved so much better than what her hand in life had dealt her.
with her fiancee.
Reed was a total tosser and I was urging her on subliminally to dump his loser arse.
Grayson was a sculptor and Lily had such a deep connection with one of his earlier creations "The Lovers"
And Grayson encouraged her on to explore her art and love of photography further, these two just meshed together so well.
Grayson saw the potential in Lily from the start, he saw depths that she had yet to explore.
While Lily, in turn, wanted to help Grayson embrace his true future with her urging him on from his side, whatever it took.
And though this was a slow burn romance it still delivered on all fronts so beautifully.
There was no OW drama and despite appearances no cheating on Lily's part.
This was also duel POV and though there were minimal secondary characters here, what there were I loved and connected with so much.
Lily's mum was wonderful and in my opinion, is what has shaped our girl into the person she is.
What a fabulous role model.
I also adored Emilia, she was more like a mum to Grayson and had raised and protected him since his parents died.
Emilia is Grayson's window to his world, without her help he would struggle to function.
she was so like a mother bear protecting her cub and this was really adorable to watch.
Reed, well he was the only one I detested and I still think he needs a total arse kicking.
I suppose every fairy tale needs a baddie and he really filled that role nicely.
So, In conclusion, this is one of my better "beauty and the beast" reads.
If you're looking for something to warm your heart give this a try.
It was a lovely simplistic sentimental read that definitely gave me the warm and fuzzies and I am happy to recommend.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "His Beauty" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

7 stars - I fell in love with Lily and Grayson. This was a fantastic story and it brought me to the Beauty and the Beast story instantly. What a fun, sassy, and sexy way to change the story. I thought the descriptions and the depth of scenes made this a fantastic book and story. Thank you

I love all books that take on the beauty and the beast story. Lily is a teacher who lost her job with budget cuts and gets a well paying job cleaning the beautiful mansion in the woods. Grayson is a wonderful artist that has been scarred and has taken to be a recluse. There's more twist and turns you don't expect but Make this book it's own.

His Beauty is a different version of Beauty and the Beast and I loved it! Sofia thank you for being able to release this one <3 Definite must read!!
This was a fall in love read from the beginning and was a different version of Beauty and the Beast. Lily has lost here job (sorta) and must find a part time job to supplement her income of a now part-time teacher. She searches and finds a cleaning job that well compensates. Her boyfriend isn't pleased and really shows no support. Reed comes from a societal background so things beneath a certain status just aren't worth it.
Grayson is needing a house cleaner and is the person that Lily answers the add for. The reclusive he is only has his art to make him happy and Emilia (family friend) and that was fine until Lily comes along and challenges him. He thinks about nothing but her and his sculptures he creates.
Can these two forge a friendship that may turn into more as the story goes or will Grayson stay a recluse and be alone?
Sofia this was a fantastic story of a fairytale. You have strong characters that for sure are lovable. Lily has a heart of gold and Grayson has a heart that needs healing. The way you brought this story to life is just what a modern day fairytale could be like if fairytales were real. You gave this story a diversity that is still alive today with the looking different and the children of Lily's ESL class. The story flows nicely and keeps you reading and wanting. I like the telling starting with Lily's point of view then progressing with Grayson's point of view.

Dawn – ☆☆
I was excited to read this book as Beauty and the Beast is my favourite fairy tale. However, for me, this book really missed the mark. I thought with all Grayson's issues, the book would be full on angst. What I read was a predictable plot.

The two main characters, Lily and Grayson, had no chemistry.

When a little action started, I thought it was going to be fast-paced and get interesting; however, it ended just as soon as it began.

This book, sadly, just did not do it for me.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I absolutely devoured the book. I had never read sofia tate before but most certainly will again. The book was nicely written and really keeps you in the storyline.

Lily wasn’t what I expected. She was hardworking, kind and sweet. I loved her passion for teaching and how she was with those children. I also loved how she stood up for herself with both Grayson when he acted out and her ex when she was with him. She really stood on her own and had a voice.

Grayson you just fall for instantly. He is mysterious and yet has a tragic past that you are drawn to because your heart feels for him. He draws light from Lily and strength. She makes him want to come back to life and go beyond the walls he has imprisoned himself in.

The story has aspects of that movie Beastly in it. But also takes great retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Grayson doesn’t have an outward change but inwardly he learns to accept his fate and himself. He gets comfortable with what has occurred and starts to feel less like an outcast and more like the man Lily sees and falls in love with. His heart is sweet and tender but he has been scarred by his past. His artwork is amazing and it is what drew Lily to his heart in the first place. Once she got to see beyond the pain he is expressing with his gruffness she really got to know him. And when she did you see what love Grayson has but also fear.

The chemistry between Grayson and Lily is off the charts and they truly help one another in so many ways. Grayson encourages Lily and sees her as a strong capable beautiful woman on the inside and out. Lily sees Grayson as a beautiful man who is in pain and she helps him see himself as well. He is shown that beauty is in who you are on the inside and your actions. That ending with the children was so precious. This is a great romance. A wonderful take on a timeless tale that just opens up the idea of love being something we don’t control but feel and that it is what we see on the inside that truly makes the person who they are. We see love for another transform another and have them become a person once more and not just the beast they perceive themselves to be.

Lily is a wonderful character with a big heart. She works for a school that has a class for kids that are learning English. But when they go and cut that class because of cut backs, she has to find a second job. She ends up getting a cleaning job at a beautiful mansion owned by a mysterious man.
Lily has a dick of a boyfriend named Reese that is coming up in the local college, his family is also well to do. So when Lilly has to get a second job needless to say it puts a strain on their relationship.
While working at the mansion she meets the owner, Grayson Shaw.

Grayson Shaw is a beast like character. He had a horrible accident when he was a child and is disfigured and only wants to be left alone. But he feels a pull when he is around Lily. But she is taken. So what will he do when things change?

I enjoyed this story and would reread it. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

Lily Moore has always found sanctuary in a sculpture on the campus of her alma mater. Imagine her surprise when she finds that her new employer is the artist that created the master piece that she is drawn to whenever she needs to escape. After seeing the new housekeeper through the window Grayson Shaw can’t stop thinking about the beautiful woman that has come into his closed off world. With all of his physical and emotional imperfections Grayson knows that his interest in Lily could only be one sided, because who could love a hideous beast like him. With a tale as old as time the beast longs to see if this beauty can see past all of his scars and sees the man he really is.

His Beauty is a modern twist of the classic fairytale without the dancing, singing furniture. Sofia Tate brings this retold story to life with new twists and turns that will keep you wondering when, how or if the beast will find his beauty. This was a terrific book that left me hating the villain from the very beginning and wanting the beast to prevail and hoping that the heroine would come to her damn senses. With a side of naughtiness, we see that the beast doesn’t always need to be tamed. I truly enjoyed reading His Beauty and was entertained from the first page to the last. I give His Beauty by Sofia Tate 5 stars.

4 “Sexy Beast” Stars!

I have always had a weakness for Beauty and the Beast retellings. There’s just something about this timeless trope that STIRS ME TO THE CORE and makes my HEART SKIP A BEAT!

So I was beyond thrilled when I discovered that Sofia Tate, a new to me author, was penning HIS BEAUTY, featuring a scarred, reclusive artist whose life is forever changed by a beautiful, kind-hearted school teacher who is hired as a part-time maid at his dilapidated estate after a stroke of bad luck causes her to take on a second job. What ensues is a lush, captivating tale that's chock full of lust, drama and swoony feels!

This is a slow-smoldering romance that takes a while to catch fire, but once the flames of passion FINALLY ignite…KAboom!

And while our SEXY beast, Grayson Shaw, did not exactly exude the kind of dark, brooding intensity that I was expecting, I was drawn to him nonetheless! This brilliant sculptor is scarred on the inside and out and suffers from severe agoraphobia, but once Lily Moore infiltrates his lonely, isolated world she brings Grayson back to life and inspires him to face his crippling fears. Her sweetness and innocence is like a balm to his damaged soul and although she belongs to another—a scoundrel who does not deserve her—he’d do anything to have her. But can this luminescent beauty ever truly love a beast?

Lily is such an ENCHANTING heroine! I was charmed by her bubbly personality, her warmth and compassion, her fierce commitment to her ESL students and her positive outlook on life no matter how many hardships she faced. She has always been an admirer of Grayson’s work, but then she fell hopelessly in love with the savagely handsome man behind the masterful sculptures. Over time, he awakens in the tender-hearted beauty a passion beyond her wildest imaginings! Not only encouraging her to purse her dreams, but when danger looms, he risks EVERYTHING to slay her dragons!

However, as much as I enjoyed the overall concept, the SUMPTUOUS writing, the VIBRANT characterizations and the RAVISHINGLY ROMANTIC tone, I did struggle a bit with the pacing of this romance. It just was a little bit too slow moving for me and one of the main reasons that this coupling progressed at a snail’s pace was because it took a long time for the heroine to kick her jerky fiancé to the curb, and as a consequence, the OM melodrama dominated too much of the storyline for my liking. Also, while I savored the aching tenderness between this love smitten duo — the wistful glances, the fluttery, breath-stealing touches, the pent up longing — I wanted a little bit more of a high voltage spark between the Gray and Lily throughout.

Those misgivings aside, one of my favorite parts of this story was how the author used art as a tapestry throughout, splashes of majestic beauty on a gloomy canvas that illuminated both their worlds. It became a magnetic force that propelled them together in powerfully profound ways.

FINAL VERDICT:
Sofia Tate penned a lavish fairytale about the transformative power of love, facing your demons, and finding true beauty from within! I look forward to more books from this talented author!

Lily Moore loves her job as an ESL teacher. However, budget cuts have her losing her beloved job at after the holiday break. Because she doesn’t want to rely on her wealthy fiance or his family that already looks down on her, Lily takes a job cleaning the estate of a recluse. By chance she stumbles upon the artist hiding from the world at the estate only to realize he is the creator of her favorite sculpture at her nearby alma mater. She’s always been a bit enamored by the piece and had fantasized about who the sculptor might be . . . and now she is face to face with him.

Grayson Shaw has hidden himself away from the word ever since he was scarred in a car accident that took the life of his parents. All of his energy and time is thrown into his art. For the first time in his life, however, he finds himself truly captivated by a woman. He knows he can never have Lily, yet he yearns for the two days a week she comes to the estate to clean. As their friendship begins to grow, Grayson wants more . . . but how could someone as sweet as Lily ever love a beast such as himself, especially when he is terrified to face the outside world.

When Lily’s in danger, however, Grayson must face his biggest fears in order to save his beauty and keep her in his life. Will he be able to push past the terrors that consume his life, or will Lily be lost to him forever?

His Beauty was a beautiful take on the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. Lily really is everything that is good in the world. She cares for others and makes them feel important, no matter who they are. When she finds herself in a relationship that begins turning abusive and unhealthy, she knows she has to escape . . . especially since she is discovering she has true feelings for Grayson that are more than friendship.

Grayson, while scarred, really is no beast. Life has caused him to hide away and dealing with the outside world leaves him tense. Yet, he is immediately drawn to Lily’s light and encourages her to follow her dreams and passions and not those of others trying to control her life. It’s a true testament to his feelings for Lily with just how much he is willing to try to change and adapt to be with her.

His Beauty is a beautiful love story about giving to those around you to make them happy and finding peace with who you truly are. Being true to yourself and realizing you deserve to be loved opens up the possibility for others to truly love you. 4 stars!

Nothing makes me one-click faster than a beauty & the beast retelling. Sofia Tate’s His Beauty is another to add to the list, although the execution left me a little disappointed.

Lily loses her position teaching ESL classes and needs to look for a new job. She ends up working as a cleaning lady for a mysterious, reclusive artist.

Beast doesn’t leave his house. Seeing the beautiful and charming Lily in his home leaves Grayson wanting to branch out but unsure how. The OM drama really kept me from liking this book. Lily has a detestable fiancée in the beginning, and it drags on and on and completely takes away from the beauty & the beast story line.

In fact, the romance doesn’t start until almost 60% of the way through. By that time, I still wasn’t feeling the connection. It actually became a bit too much and over the top when it was present. I wasn’t particularly moved by either of these characters, and I find myself putting it down.

A decent fairy tale retelling that never quite closes the deal on the romance.

3 stars!

Lily Moore was never one to give up. When her job as a school teacher becomes the victim of budget cuts, she scours her small community for another way to pay the bills.

As if by magic, she answers an ad for part-time house cleaner in the mysterious mansion nestled in the mountains. The work is relatively easy and pay is exceptional, but it’s her employer that intrigues her most of all.

Grayson Shaw’s art always spoke directly to her heart and there are whispers around town about the reclusive genius. They say that he’s horribly disfigured and that he only wants to be left alone. But what they don’t know is that the man underneath the scars is as passionate as his sculptures – and Lily can’t help but fall helplessly under his spell.

Against all odds, they’ll discover together exactly who is the beauty and who is the beast.

"All I know about Grayson Shaw is what I’ve discovered over the years on the Internet. From a wealthy local family, he is an alumnus of Ashby, although I’ve never found his name listed in any yearbook. He’s had exhibits of his work all over the world, but never attends any of them. I don’t even know how old he is, but I almost feel closer to him than I do to Reed, my college sweetheart, the man I plan to marry someday.
I stare at the lovers again.
Do you need comfort, Grayson Shaw? Is that what you need, what you want more than anything? Why are you so broken?"

His Beauty is a refreshingly contemporary take on one of the most beloved of fairy tales. Sofia Tate somehow manages to effortlessly combine both the magical and the modern. And all the while, she breathes life into each of the characters with her whip smart humor and a deep sense of soul.

Filled with art, music and just enough heat to keep you toasty warm during a Catskills winter – this is a love story that will have you completely bewitched from beginning to end...

This is the tale of Lily Moore and Grayson Shaw. Lily has been disappointed in love and she loses her job as a teacher so has to find something else to support her and this results in her taking a job with Grayson, a reclusive artist whom Lily has always admired. He is an angry man who has scars on his body and in his persona but the two are drawn together. This is a good story in the genre of Beauty and the Beast with the ex boyfriend thrown in as a nasty element. I would recommend this book.
