This was a cute story, perfect for kiddos who have moved and are starting st a new school. The main character is relatable and likeable, and her struggles are similar to what many kids may go through. It also gives a good outside perspective to students who haven’t been through a situation like hers. The jokes peppered throughout are an added bonus - I can already envision several students stopping their reading to tell me some of them! And the story will appeal to animal lovers as well. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

My nine year olds review-A great book and very funny. The characters were good and likable. I learned that you don’t have to lie to get friends..

My review-I thought this book was well written and had a great lesson and completed with humor. I enjoyed reading this with my daughter.

If we all stand out, we're outstanding!

Thank you, Netgalley and the author for this opportunity to provide my honest-to-goodness review in exchange for the free ARC.

Cute book, on the slightly repetitive side. "We love fashion."

Lessons to be learned for our young ones: (in the voice of my 7-year-old girlchild) "It's good to be different, but be kind, don't lie, and don't let people judge you."

The chapter titles are cute. The illustrations are great; props to the artist.

Shelby is the funny girl, with her little quips perfect for the younger audience. My daughter really enjoyed reading this with me.

Shelby and her family are moving from Ohio to LosAngeles. Shelby is worried about making new friends and when she sees the small new house and realizes she has to share a room with her sister Lilah, she is not happy. She is a funny girl who hopes to use her jokes and humor to make new friends. She thinks she has a friend in Ajay, her neighbor who lives across the street, but he ignores her at school. She meets two girls who like fashion and when she lies about living in France and they find out, she is even more left out. As the story progresses, Shelby keeps trying to change to fit what she thinks the others want her to be. This is a great early chapter book for late primary, early junior readers, especially girls. The lesson is there about being yourself and not judging others. The illustrations are well done. There are not an over abundance of them, but they certainly add to the story. A good addition to a school, class or public library. D. L. Green is the author of the Zeke Meeks series as well as other publications.
