I received this book as a review copy from www.netgalley.com. I read a lot of books and this one passes the test as useful and interesting.

The author gets straight to the point. I like that in a book. Here there is no long introduction and flowery prefacing. after a fe brief pages to give yo some context the another launches in.

The book as readable. That is something else I like in a book. There is no complex grammatical constructions. Ok there are a few Sanskrit terms but for the most part there are translated well and there is no dwelling on this ancient language unless a post is being made to increase or clarify your understanding.

This book is accessible. You don't have to have a degree in philosophy to benefit from that the author is saying.

I am a student of the Bhagavad-gita, I have read a number of transactions over the years and still spend a great deal of time mining the depth of this scripture for my own personal development.

Anyone who has an interest in the Bhagavad-gita will get a useful overview from reason this book. It't not a translation of the gita, it's great value is as an entry point to whet your appetite and motivate you to find out more. Having said that you will benefit from looking at the commandments noted in here and evaluating your own life accordingly.

The real essence of the teachings within the Bhagavad-gita are not fully revealed by reading, you have to get practical and apply what you learn. The truth is you need to do what Krishna says in the gita and accept a teacher who can really show you how it can be applied in your life.
