This is the 3rd Colleen Coleman book I have read and just like the others, I loved it.

Katie is in a big rut, cooking at a nursing home instead of the gourmet cooking she would like to do, when she gets the opportunity of a lifetime to be an apprentice to a demanding, mercurial French chef. And then her ex, Ben, comes back into the picture as well. Talk about complex!

A lovely tale of hardship and joy, friendship and love. This author has the knack of storytelling with a lot of heart, without it being soppy. I always want to cheer very loudly when it comes to the main characters in Colleen Coleman's books and this one is no exception.

I give it 4.5 stars :) If you haven't read any of this author's books yet, what are you waiting for?? I can't wait for the next one!

One way or another by Colleen Coleman a funny and honest four-star read, I have read a few books by this author and they all leave me with the warm and fuzzies, this one also left me hungry and heart-warmed. Katie Kelly is an easy character to love, she just wants to make everyone happy and will help everyone even if I mean hurting her, even when it involves her Idol. The cooking aspects were new to me as I’m the world’s worst cook, but even I could get inspired by Katie and her passion. If you are in the mood for funny and heart-warming then you ant go wrong with this author.

A decent chick-lit novel with a lot of food in it. Unfortunately, it wasn't food that appealed to me but hey, I'm picky and am not meant for fancy restaurants.

Katie was an interesting main character and I really got her imposter syndrome and anxieties. You really root for her throughout. But that focus is mostly on her work and family life. Which is fine, but it also meant that the romance felt a little thrown in and unnecessary which was a little disappointing.

But, overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to people looking for an easy foodie read.

Katie is a cook in a care home along with Zoe and Mel whom she's befriended during their time working together, but she dreams of working for a proper highly renowned chef. Especially as her boss Bernie hates anyone messing up the tested way of serving up plain mush to residents. So when the opportunity comes to try out and compete for the ideal role she jumps at the chance and then finds out she's up against her ex, Ben!



Jean Michael is a tough chef to impress, Katie's old friend Georgia finds out early on. Soon enough Katie learns there's a bully trying to sabotage other's dishes so he can win but Katie catches on and helps Ben he gets his dishes tampered with. They also go for a meal and a catch up where she learns Ben thought about them still being together and also that he still works on a cruise ship like he planned when he left her. As the pair enjoy their night together and they have the final round of the competition to fight for what sparks will fly?



Well what a book this was! Culinary skills aside there was love sewn between the seams of the chapters as Katie and Ben's journey reignited thanks to the fire of the competition. It was a good book with lots happening and I was pleased that Katie was never a push over in either job positions or in her love life either and she allowed Ben to pursue his dream and she hers too. Jean Michael was a strange one too, seemingly a tough boss who would've guessed he was unhappy?! A shocking novel all-round there as plans go awry indeed but you'll have to read it to see for yourself. At least there's a bright shiny ending that made a new life for Katie and Ben!

One way or another is an enjoyable romance involving Katie a Chef who has almost become bankrupt after opening her own restaurant, not through her wonderful cooking but bad business practice. She had previously split from her long term boyfriend and love of her life, Ben, after he wanted to spread his own talents as a chef by joining a prestigious cruise liner.
A master chef type competition is announced and the winner will become Grande Chef working with a Michelin star Chef who is Katie's hero, she enters the competition and is shocked to see Ben also there competing, its obvious they still have feelings for each other.
This story opens your eyes to the great pressures chefs put on themselves to produce continually perfect dishes, and how dedicated they are to their art.
Amusing at times and definitely a great feel good read with a lovely ending.

Cute, up,firing, and an overall fun read.

I'm going to be looking for more books from Colleen Coleman from now on. It was nice to read about such a smart, independent, and kind female lead like Katie. Rare to find nowadays where you find most women's fiction leads acting clueless or letting a relationship takeover their life.

If you like food, cooking, and fun stories give this a shot. I stayed up until 3am reading this book as I found myself unable to put it down :)

I loved this book - a classic Colleen Coleman where the heroine resonates with real life and the characters ring true. I loved the relationships between Katie and her friends at the nursing home - and with resident Martha. The whole book reminded me that you have to follow your dreams and live a little... A fast, enjoyable and delicious read!

This is another author whose previous books I will definitely be adding to my ever growing to be read pile having now read one of their books.

One of my loves in life is food. So what better book to read than one about someone who wants to make it as a chef? I love programmes like Hell's Kitchen and Master Chef and if you do also, then you are going to adore this book. 

We first meet Katie in her job in a retirement home. Katie obviously wants more in her working life than cooking for people in there. She is not allowed to experiment and constantly has the supervisor on her back for trying to improve the meals. I could really feel Katie's frustration. It's only due to some of the other staff as well as some of the lovely residents, especially Martha, that she sticks it out. 

The relationship between Martha and Katie was so lovely to read. It really makes for some emotional reading and I could feel my eyes filling up more than a few times. For me their friendship was the icing on the cake that just complemented the storyline perfectly.

When Katie gets chosen as one of the finalists in the competition for a chance to work alongside a Michelin star chef, well things certainly start to heat up and I couldn't turn the pages quick enough to see who was going to come out on top.

One Way Or Another is so much more than a romance book. It is very much about following your dreams and never giving up. It truly is a fabulously light hearted and entertaining read that will have you bubbling with emotions. It was so wonderful that I read it in one sitting as the authors writing just captivated me and I couldn't put it down. Would love to see more of Katie and Ben in the future.
