I read this book a while back but I forgot to write the review. However from what I can remember it was an okay book. Some good plot twists that were not necessarily from left field. Fell in the love with Rex.

So Rex was accused of a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to hang. Lillie came to his rescue with her crew from the ranch due to her father's bidding ,but Rex has a road to travel for forgiveness for old hurts delivered in the past. Good characters and enjoyed the story line. Settle in for a good western.

Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Lillie Cohen hates Rex Utah for abandoning her six years ago after taking her virginity and leaving her pregnant. To heal her broken heart, she dedicates her life to running the family cattle ranch with her father. But when she learns Rex is back in town and about to hang for a murder he didn’t commit, she is forced to rescue her son’s father and help him clear his name.

Rex Utah regrets the day he disappeared from the Cohen Ranch, leaving behind the only woman he ever loved. When he returns to seek forgiveness from her and ease his conscience, he is faced with a hard-nosed cowgirl who has a son to match.

But someone is trying to keep them apart. Can they put differences aside and fight for the love they once had, or will they die trying?

Terry's Thoughts on Forgiving Rex

I liked the story.

Circumstances made Lillie a strong woman. She worked along side her father and learned to run a ranch. She raised her son without a father. She became hardened to protect herself. When Rex shows up her emotions are all over the place.

Rex is a charmer and it is fun watching him try to charm Lillie. He has no clue why someone is trying to blame a bank robbery and murder on him, but he is almost hanged for it just the same

If you enjoy a good western, you'll enjoy this book.

A short, sweet story about forgiveness and redemption, Forgiving Rex can be read on the beach or in one quick summer afternoon. If you adore Western romances with traditional wild, wild west action there is a good bet you'll enjoy this one.

While it isn't the most believable romance (seriously, who up and leaves the person they love because they're scared?) it is still a happy-endings love story. Rex is actually incredibly likable and fulfills the dashing cowboy role well. I didn't like Lillie. She was an attempt to be understandably salty and instead came across childish and sullen.

And the big baddie? Yeah... you can call that from the mountains of Colorado. But that's okay. I don't read these kinds of stories for intrigue, complex plot, or believability. Instead, I read for escape and enjoyment and Forgiving did a fine job.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sue Heasley, and The Wild Rose Press, INC for this free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I must admit to having mixed feelings about Forgiving Rex. While Lillie’s character has learnt to be strong and self-sufficient, Rex is a struggle to like. His return to town paints him in a less than desirable fashion and leaves me wondering why Lillie would even waste her time.

The overall story was OK, if a little predictable, but I would probably read something else by Ms Heasley before making to harsh a judgement.

Rex is in a mess for sure. With the sheriff looking to hang him for murder. To the rescue come a group of riders, what he doesn't know is its the woman who holds his heart. Lillie is holding a secret that will change both of their lives. I enjoyed this book. I normally don't read western type books. It had enough balance of action and romance to keep me interested.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Overall, the story was interesting and moved along at a good pace so it was an enjoyable read. I really liked that Lillie was tough and gave Rex a little payback for the pain, and was not willing to forgive him right away and jump back into bed with him.

The plot was a bit predictable with the current beau as the bad guy and there was not a lot of depth to the characters. I guess I have a hard time with teenage lovers still feeling love for each other when they have matured are are really not the same person so it is like starting over, in my opinion.

What I really had a problem with was Rex and as soon as he comes back to town, has to run to the saloon and sleep with some "soiled doves." This really made it hard for me to like Rex because there is nothing like rubbing it Lillie's face that you were with prostitutes as soon as you come back into the town they both grew up in! Did he even think of her feelings that this would get brought to her attention?? Don't even get me started on the possibility of STD's from his years of whoring.

Fortunately, the bad guys died, Rex was saved from prison, and Lillie and Rex got their HEA.

t is okay.
I know they were different times but he leaves town, she pregnant unknown to him, he returns a few years later and his alibi for not robbing the bank is he was with a prostitute who has left town.
There are no intimate scenes with the so called Hero and said prostitute but doesn't he sound like a peach.
He hasn't even been back to the ranch to see how she is, the woman he could never forget and loves, yeah right.
Anyway several kidnappings later and it's a HEA.

I wasn't a big fan of Rex, nor Lillie. Lillie seemed to forgive Rex way too quickly and I don't think he grovels enough to win her back. There was good action in the story with the villain, but that was not enough to save this read for me.
