Just One Spark is my first book by this author. I was attracted to the description of the book. (Who doesn’t like reading about a fireman?!?!?) Sadly, I stopped around the 20% part of the book. I just could not get into Derek and Hannah. This is a love at first sight book for Derek, but Hannah sees a wedding ring on his finger during their first meeting and she doesn’t believe him when he says he forgot to take it off. He then becomes a stalker and they meet at a coffee shop while he is meeting his brother.

Hannah Daniels reads steamy romance novels to forget her last trip on the love roller coaster shredded her heart and tossed it like confetti. Her instincts about men stink, but at work they’re on point. Only her busy schedule means she reads whenever she can make time. Like at the laundromat while sitting on top of a washing machine. Don’t judge.

Firefighter Mason McNally has searched his whole life for a woman who stirs his soul. When he finds her, she’s nose-deep in a racy paperback atop a vibrating washer. Her beauty, boldness, and raw sensuality ignite his interest. But there’s a problem. He’s forgotten he’s wearing a wedding ring.

No amount of hasty explanations that it’s for his brother’s psychology experiment convinces her to give him a chance. But he’s rushed into fiery situations before, and this woman is totally worth the risk. He’ll just have to prove to her that first impressions can be wrong and their spark of attraction is oh so right.

Hannah is in the laundromat when she meets Mason. Unfortunately Mason had been participating in an experiment for his psychologist brother and was wearing a wedding ring. Hannah tells him off for hitting on her and even though Mason says he’s not married, she doesn’t believe him.

Hannah had been dating previously but then found out that the guy was married with a family and she was crushed by what she thought of as her own stupidity. She doesn’t trust men in general right now and is just interested in her career.

Mason is determined to talk to Hannah once again so he basically stalks her until he can find her, but fails. It’s through Hannah’s married sister that she ends up meeting Mason’s brother and then is re-introduced to Mason. They find out that they are neighbors in the same building and he lives right above her. Despite Hannah’s decisions to take things slowly they can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. For Hannah, however, this is just the beginning of what might be a lasting relationship. For Mason this is the beginning of forever. He wants her and he’s not about to let her go.

This starts off as a decent story, although Mason’s stalking is a bit creepy. Unfortunately all I ever really felt for this couple, as the book moved on, was awkwardness. I never felt comfortable with the pair and I think it was because of Hannah. I found her to be incredibly irritating. She was stubborn, grated on my nerves and at times she was down-right mean to Mason. He had his issues but overall he was a nice guy who seemed to truly care about her. He deserved way better, imho. Throughout the whole book Hannah never tells Mason she loves him. Never. I found that extremely odd in a romance.

There were some parts of the book that were better than others but I found them few and far between. I didn’t realize as I was reading the book that I had read it before. I think I must have blocked it, or something because only one part really made me think, “Have I read this before?” According to Goodreads I read it 4 years ago but sadly I didn’t like it any better this time around.

Mason sees Hannah for the first time sitting atop the washing machine reading a romance novel, and is in love.
Hannah thinks Mason is married, he’s wearing a wedding ring for his brothers experiment, and doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.
I really enjoyed reading Just one spark. It was funny, quirky, sexy and romantic. Mason goes for what he wants and his patience with Hannah, who is a little cautious having trouble trusting her instincts after her last relation was totally swoon worthy.
A fun fun fun read !

This book wasn't what I thought it would be after reading the synopsis. Sometimes not getting what you expect to is a good thing, not in this case though. When I read the description of this book, it sounded like something that I would totally enjoy, but sadly it was not meant to be. I really hate it when you read the synopsis of the book, and then the book turns out nothing like the synopsis.
Sadly, I didn't see the spark in this book. The writing was choppy and disjointed and I kept looking back if I missed the page because the story kept skipping ahead without any kind of notice. Also, the heroine, Hannah is kind of crazy and very, very annoying. I think the author tried to make her funny and cute but sadly she just comes across as crazy (and not in a good way), mean, grating and stubborn. Also, one of my biggest pet peeves is love at fist sight. And this book doesn't just feature insta-love trope but also takes the position that there is only one way to fall in love and that's love at first sight. And on top of it all, the ending is incredibly abrupt. So it's safe to say that I sadly didn't enjoy this story at all.

Hannah is cautious after having been hurt badly in a relationship before. Mason, however, is smitten with her at first sight. When they start spending time together will they be able to overcome their opposite views on relationships?

The plot was interesting but felt a bit rushed in some places. The author did a good job , though, with showing where Hannah's insecurities and relationship issues stem from. As I got further into the book I did feel like both Hannah and Mason needed to do a better job of seeing some things from the other's perspective. It is a common problem couples have, though, so it wasn't unrealistic.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hannah Daniels has been burned in the past by unreliable, lying boyfriends so she finds it difficult to trust her instincts about men and their intensions. Mason McNally is completely love struck when he first sees Hannah but they get off on the wrong foot. He is desperate to locate her and put things right, he tries to gain her trust but its not easy as she can’t see past their raging attraction.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet cover, sweet & sassy sounding synopsis.
White font disappears into the cover background a little, but it's mostly is legible.

POV ~> Third person

Mason's a firefighter. Hannah's works in a retail clothing store, vying for the management position of her own store. They meet in a laundromat while Mason's partaking in a ridiculous psychological experiment for his brother. Hannah's been burned before, badly, and does not trust her instincts any longer. Unfortunately, the magnetic attraction they feel only leads to chaos.
She thought he was married. He was labeled as a stalker by staff and regulars of a coffee cafe. Mysterious kinky cards started showing up around the same time as Mason finding Hannah again, through a mutual family friend, that put him at the top of the suspect board.
There were some cute and quirky moments and then there were times that I wondered why anyone would put up with Hannah's mean girl persona. He had moments of possessiveness and came off as a bit obsessive at times, but she seemed to only have three modes; bitchy, insecure seductress, and game-playing control freak. Oh, toss in a loser ex-boyfriend and a sketchy co-worker to round out the drama. Then there was his family, her family, and her best friend - slash - roommate.
The plot, in general, was entertaining and dynamic but I was not fond of how Hannah used sex as a commodity after having her first morning-after meltdown whining about how "she's not like this". Writing quality was smart and mature, the flow was smooth and virtually flawless. The big conflict was not note-worthy and the resolution felt waxed over. Predictability was low. The conclusion was satisfying, providing a solid HEA.
Overall, it was like their truffles, both cool and spicy.

This was a fast cute story. I really liked Mason but was not a fan of Hannah’s. I liked the storyline but it fell a little short for me since I never warmed up to Hannah and couldn’t figure out what was the draw for Mason. I did like Hannah’s friend Kate and was happy whenever the two of her interacted. I wish Kate had gotten her own book instead of just being lumped in with this one.

I have read several books by Mrs Burke and this is one of my favorites!

Hannah is almost thirty and her last boyfriend was married with three kids and she didn’t know it. Once she found out he was married she dumped him. Of course she doesn’t trust any guy. She meets Mason while she is at the laundromat. Mason is wearing a wedding ring to help his psychiatrist brother with one of his experiments. Hannah automatically assumes he is a cheater and storms off.

Mason is completely smitten the first time he sees Hannah. He explains what happens to his brother and tells him he doesn’t want to help with his experiments and explains why. In the process he tells him about Hannah, her unique eyes and how he wants to/needs to see her again and straighten things out.

Hannah’s family wants her to find a nice guy, marry him and have kids. Hannah actually wants to be the manager of the store she works at. Her sister has her over to meet her hinsbands single friends. Hannah meets a guy and agrees to coffee with him. That guy is Derek, Masons brothers. He asks Hannah to coffee so that he explain Mason isn’t married.

Once Mason explains tonHannah he is not marriend and would like to date her things move pretty fast. They actually live in the same apartment building. Masons apartment is the one above Hannah’s.

This is a very sweet story. Mason is absolutely swoon worthy at how much he cares for Hannah. Hannah is still trying to get over what her cheating ex did to her. So mason of course has a lot to over come.

This booksnis dual POV, super sweet and funny! Also The supporting characters are great as well.

I received an arc from NG for review

I LOVED this book soooooo much. It was fun and flirty and romantic and it made me laugh and get really excited and I truly loved every minute.

Hannah is a hot single woman, she meets Mason in her buildings laundry room and thinks he is married. But he isn't what he is is in love with her but she thinks he is married and he can;t find her...ohhh so what does he do? Well it was a totally fun book and I am not spoiling anything else.

Hannah has some trust issues and married men are a big thing for her. So will she give herself a chance with Mason? Well that is what this book is about. It was fun and sweet and I loved all the supporting characters as well.

Wow!! This book sizzles. I needed a break from historical romance and this book did the trick. I really enjoyed her chemistry between the hero and heroine. I can’t wait to read more book by this author. I really hope this book is a series because I really want to know more about those penguins! LOL

If you like a sexy fireman who falls in insta-love/insta-love with a woman he sees in a laundromat, this is a novel for you. Mason McSally, one of five sexy brothers is just about perfect. However, the woman who won his heart by reading an erotic novel while sitting on a washing machine, has her own problems trusting her own judgment in men. She doesn’t believe in insta-love even though she’s falling for Mason.

She goes back and forth so much that I just wanted to smack her. She doesn’t deserve the delightful Mason.

I was given a free ARC of this boo

Hannah sometimes has a one track mind, "she’d almost dragged him back to her bedroom the moment he’d walked through the door." Mason is just so honest, “no.” He smiled into her hair. “If I’d thought of it before, I wouldn’t have worn underwear.” Hannah can sometimes get vicious when her man doesn't give her a good answer, "she yanked the hair out. Mason yelped and clasped his hand over hers. “I was waiting for you to decide what you want.” I liked this book, I loved Mason.

This is a sexy and fun novel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Mason sees Hannah under odd circumstances and is instantly smitten, while Hannah thinks he's scum and hopes to never see him again. Then he begins to stalk her in an attempt to find her again...

Hannah has had a bad relationship that really destroyed her ability to trust her judgment with men, so when Mason rolls over her and acts like he's in "insta-love", she doesn't believe him, so she constantly pushes him away and puts limits on their relationship.

It was refreshing to read a novel where the man is the one so smitten and the woman is the one pushing away. The banter was fun and the circumstances were entertaining and made me smile. Add in the sexy antics and you have a delightful novel that fans of the genre will love. The author is on my must read authors' list.

love a book where the man is head over heels for the girl instead of the other way around and look no further this is your book!
Hannah Daniels, sits on the washer machine while it's on spin reading a romance novel. Hard to believe but yes she does it. She lives vicariously through these books since her job eats up most of her time and after a really bad ending to a relationship she's not in the man market.
She meets Mason McNally at the laundromat just as her washer in done and her dryers stop. Ha! Mason's trying to strike up a conversation with her while wearing a wedding ring. Hannah blows him off, tosses her laundry in a bag and bee lines out of there so fast, all the while mumbling about married men.
Mason's a great guy and since he reluctantly agreed to help his PhD brother with a psych experiment, wearing the wedding ring while he's trying to talk to this woman he's just met and convinced she's the one. Mason's ticked at his brother and Drake just talks gibberish about the whole experiment and he's totally missing Mason's point, because he makes a good one. Hannah has disappeared and he never got her name, where she lives etc. Now he's obsessed and starts hanging around the coffee shop in the neighborhood. One of the barista's is convinced he's a stalker, while a group of women who meet to write together each postulate a book trope on his story.
Hannah's sister invites her over to yet another one of their parties, her effort in matchmaking where her husband invites a couple friends to watch the game and well you know, sister thinks Hannah should be dating after a year after her nasty break up. I have to tell you sister's hub is a real piece of work. I didn't like the guy, not worth scrapping the bottom of my shoe. He treats Hannah like she's still on toddler food and his attitude needs a bleaching. When Mason's brother attend the party and figures out that Hannah is the girl Mason is looking for, the rest of his-story. And it pretty much is.
Hannah isn't the easiest berry in the bucket to pluck and Mason is just a good guy. He really is, one of 5 boys and a sister, big family and there's a lot to the group that made the book fun. I loved Mason and thought shoot, if she doesn't want him, I'll take him. Mason is a firefighter and it was good the book doesn't center around that, a little bit bout her job but this is really a story about two people trying to make a relationship go. One trying harder than the other. The chemistry between these two is incendiary and Hannah uses that to her advantage too. Hannah irked me at times with her attitude in general about everyone else, but she forgets to lump herself in there with the rest of them and I felt bad for Mason a few times too. Mason doesn't need to grow a pair, he's already got them and he finally has had enough. Ball's in her court.
I loved watching Hannah squirm though this one. Jenna can write one solid female that needs her head knocked a couple times and she really does it with Hannah. Mason's a sweetheart and you'll love him. We get a side story with Kate, Hannah's roommate and Mason's brother Drake. That was rich.
Let them eat cake she said! And so they did.

Sadly, this book had no spark. I hate when you read the synopsis of the book, and then the book turns out nothing like the synopsis. This book was nothing like what it lead me on to be. I thought it was going to be a cute and wiry story, but it wasn't. The lead character, Hannah is kinda crazy. She is not really funny or cute, She is kind of crazy. If I was any male interested in her, I would run the other way!
