Elizabeth Keysian is a new-to-me author, and I enjoyed #3 in the Wayward in Wessex series. Themes include rags-to-riches, and misunderstood communications between our hero and heroine. The characters are likable, although the path to love was a pretty short one.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

I liked Emma and James as the hero and heroine of this story. They both have had experiences that had left them wary to opening their hearts to someone new. The romance in this story took time to build as they both had to work through the lack of trust and muddle through their feelings to get clarity.

The book can be read as a standalone although part of a series.

This is my first encounter with Ms. Keysian and I’m happy to say it was frustratingly charming! A strong story and characters make it enjoyable- the constant self doubt of our heroine throws the “frustratingly” in the mix but it’s not in a bad manner. You are thoroughly enjoying the title while screaming at her in your head. You’re definitely pulled in!
Emma Hibbert...governess. Emma d’Ibert...a lady from a family on the verge of bankruptcy forced into service. Two Emma’s, one woman.
Viscount Tisdale-he’s got his life all figured out. Marry the girl and his duty is fulfilled.
When their paths cross, Viscount Tisdale’s well ordered life is thrown to the wind. Can Emma keep her secret?
A truly charming story to enjoy is a sitting!

I loved Viscount Tidworth and Emma. This was a great book that you don't want to put down. When Emma wrecks his engagement plan, it leads to a whole new adventure between him and Emma. You cannot go wrong with this book.

Emma Hibbert’s family is heavily in debt so she’s on her way to become a governess when a sinfully handsome stranger tumbles from his horse & needs help. She soon realizes she should have left him in the mud where she found him. Viscount JamesTidworth is anything but grateful for being rescued after a tumble from his horse. His pretty saviour may be well meaning, but forcing him to delay his journey completely wrecks his engagement plans. Then they meet again & although attracted to each other always seem to end up arguing.
Another very enjoyable read from the author, the characters are very well fleshed & the story flows so very well. I particularly like the attention to detail, not only are sheep & pigs mentioned but the actual breeds & I felt that I was part of the tour of Bath, it was so real & accurate. James & Emma were perfect for each other but it took a while for them each to realise, however the road to their HEA was highly entertaining. I look forward to more well written, entertaining books from the author, I hope George & Jemima have the completion to their story.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Publisher's Description:

Emma Hibbert will never again trust a good-looking man. They offer nothing but heartbreak and humiliation. But her conscience won't let her abandon a sinfully handsome stranger needing help—even if he ignites an unwelcome passion in her. She soon realizes she should have left him in the mud where she found him, for he has the power to ruin everything...

Viscount Tidworth is anything but grateful for being rescued after a tumble from his horse. His pretty savior may be well-meaning, but forcing him to delay his journey completely wrecks his engagement plans. And Tidworth cannot let that stand. But when he discovers Emma's true identity, he must choose between his desire for revenge...and his baffling attraction to her.

My Thoughts:
This is another wonderfully written and engaging title by Elizabeth Keysian . All of the books in this series have small insignificant ties but all are meant to be standalone reads.

If you haven't read any of this author's books I encourage you to do so.

When Viscount Tidworth falls from his horse. This unfortunate delay causes him to be too late in his proposal to the lady he intends to make his wife. She has just minutes before his arrival accepted the suit of another.
His accident in his rush to propose to the young lady was not Emma's fault but he blames her for the delay anyway.
Emma and the Viscount are almost instantly attracted to each other, but Tidworth feels she is the reason he isn't now engaged to the enchanting lady of his choice. They part without the knowledge of one another's names but they soon meet again under much different circumstances.
Will Tidworth be the forgiving sort and let his attraction for this mysterious young woman grow or will his new knowledge of who she actually is be the death of anything between them?
I enjoyed the story and the characters in this newest edition of the Wayward in Wessex series.
Both the storyline and characters are well developed and engaging.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. All real intimacy is behind closed door scenes ending with a kiss and the door being closed.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from both the author and publisher. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I didn't like the hero and heroine of this story and so I can't continue reading it.

Amazing read! I loved the story, as well as, the characters. It's well-written with lots of humor and romance. For me, it was a delightful read.
Emma is sweet and sassy both at the same time. She is kind, loving, and also an independent woman. She believes herself to be quite capable lady, which she is, so it's not easy for her to like Lord Tidworth. He also doesn't like her much. Both think the other untrustworthy. Besides they have nothing in common so it's highly unlikely that they would see a lot of each other anyway.... or so they thought when they first met.
Because of Emma, Tidworth suffered a lot. Her misguided kindness has ruined his chances of marrying his one true love. Emma has no clue that she caused him such distress so is very critical of his behavior. But soon they will both realize how wrong they have been... let's just hope it's not too late for them then.
It's a great historical romance novel with touch of humor. I'd definitely recommend it to other readers.

Ms. Keysian’s books are full of quirky and sweet moments and great characters. Her books are easy reads that engage your imagination. This book also has loads of misunderstandings and makes every moment special. The slow to build romance was engaging and delightful. Wonderful read.

Even though this is listed as Wayward in Essex number 3, you do not need to have read the prior novels in order to understand and enjoy this one. This story is a completely stand alone novel with new characters, an a new story.

As with the other novels from this author, I could not put this one down! I loved these characters - the dislike between Emma and Tidworth was entertaining at every turn. One of my favorite kind of romance novels are the ones considered "slow burn", where the characters don't fall immediately in love, and in that Vanquishing the Viscount did not disappoint! There were times I wondered if Emma would ever find her happily ever after with her Viscount or not the way they so often butted heads.

One thing I will caution readers about with this is the fact that while Emma does come from a noble family, her family fell on times so hard that she took the position of a governess. Now, I know for most, this fact will be easily overlooked by most readers, but I also know there are some who are proponents of historical stories holding true to the details of the time - and I feel these readers may find her match to the Viscount to be a bit unbelievable. However, I did not find this to take away anything from the overall story.

I believe this story will appeal to those who enjoy a well written historical novel with interesting characters. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Having read the prior books in this series, I can say they all stand quite well alone, only loosely connected really. And truly enjoyed the others, this one is written a little differently, and the H and h are not quite as easily loved as the others. Both are a little prickly, perhaps because of prior bad experiences, and not quite as likeable. The h has had to hire out as a governess and encounters out H en route to her employer.. He is injured and she delays his mission to propose to a young Lady, she accepts another’s proposal, breaking his heart. He blames our h, and when he encounters her at her employer, is slightly rude. Throughout the story there is really little of encouragement in their romance, though she is quite taken with him, he actually shows little passion for her, so that is unlike the prior stories, which show more passion. Nev, the romance does seem to develop in a rather sideways manner, with a lovely HEA. it’s a pretty clean story overall, nothing more than kisses. I received a free arc in exchange for an honest review.

In return for my request to read this ARC, I promised a fair and honest review. While I do appreciate the work that goes into any book, what I hope for is a read that keeps me riveted. Unfortunately, I found this one uninspiring.

I received this novel from net galley and the publisher for an honest review. Thank you!!

This novel was a good read. Emma Hibbert has been forced to become a governess since her titled family is in deep debt. They have had to sell many of their possessions and her childhood home is next on the list. Emma is also distrustful of men after what happened to her during her season. On er way to her new charges, she comes across a man who fell off his horse. She helps him, but he does not what her help, for she has delayed him in his pursuit of what he believes will make him happy. Viscount Tidworth, James, is angry with Emma's interference. When he discovers Emma is the governess to his friend's siblings, he plans revenge. His behavior towards her is rude, but then he discovers Emma true background. Emma is worried he will tell her employers of her background, but then James becomes ill and Emma cares for him, which changes the relationship between them. However, someone has other plans for Emma, which can destroy her developing relationship with James. Both care for the other, but will they let others ruin their chance at happiness?
