Just love this series, and this one didn't disappoint. Erika Foster, Moss and Peterson are great characters and it's nice to know about their home lives too. The story of a killer in a gas mask is gripping with a great ending. I would highly recommend this book and others in the series.

Robert Slams it out of the park yet again! I firstly want to thank NetGalley, Bookouture, and Robert Bryndza for a ARC copy of Deadly Secrets, with the awesome Erika Foster. The only issue I had was that it was over. I think this has to be my favorite so far. There will be more won’t there????
This installment is yet another fast-paced, dark, chilling, and gripping police procedural thriller that grabbed my attention immediately and held it right until that thrilling and unexpected ending. I like many other readers will warn you that you shouldn’t start this book if you do not have time to finish it. Have always enjoyed Erika Foster books I feel like I am watching a movie and can’t stop. There was a big change in this novel you as a reader got the chance to see the softer side of Erika Foster. The short chapters make it a much more fun experience and each case is unique and individual you don’t feel like you’re reading the same thing in each installment which makes it fun. This book begins with a murder of a young woman. The next morning, a mother wakes up to find her blood-soaked body frozen to the ground. Who would commit such a murder so close to the victim's home? Erika Foster is called to the scene and quickly learns that there have been a series of assaults close to the neighborhood where the young woman was killed. As the case progresses you find out that all the people on the victim’s life. have a different opinion of who she was. I love that Erica typically a one man show but we got a little bit more of Moss in the mix and that was a lot of fun to see. Robert books are typically like an onion you have layers and layers of mystery. This book is the perfect read for those who love mystery’s, thrillers, police procedural, etc. The scenes are not overly graphic, so they should not turn off the majority of readers. If this is your first book by Robert Bryndza welcome to the fold. If you are coming back for more next stop book 7. 5 Deadly addictive stars from me.

Thanks once again to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review "Deadly Secrets", the latest from Robert Bryndza in the Erika Foster series. (Although, I have to admit that I've skipped a few of the books - will get to them soon.)
Erika Foster is back, and this time there's a juicy murder that she just happens to stumble upon on Christmas Day on her way to lunch with her boss. But, we all know, Erika cannot just walk away from a mystery, so her involvement is pre-ordained.
Marissa Lewis - a burlesque artiste who goes by the stage name of Honey Diamond - was murdered at her own front door, on her way back from work. As it turns out, Marissa was not exactly an innocent party (sexual blackmail and infidelity abound).
As the story progresses, the murder tale seems to be part of a larger plot, where an unknown person, dressed in a long black coat and wearing a gas mask has been assaulting men and women in the same area.
The detectives have gelled as a working organism as this series has moved along, and Deadly Secrets sees them working extremely well together (although the return of Erika's paramour does throw a wrench into her personal life).
And on the personal front, her ex-father-in-law has a health crisis, Erika makes a decision regarding the house that she and Mark (her deceased husband) lived in; and it turns out she might be pre-menopausal (do I even want children?)
Both storylines come to a good conclusion, although there is a final twist that even I did not see coming.
This story barreled along at bredakneck speed, and too soon was at an end. Recommended greatly.

A mother finds her daughter’s body in the front garden on a snowy Christmas Day. She’s been stabbed and left to bleed to death. DCI Erika Foster was meant to be at friends’ for Christmas dinner but passed the murder site on her way and took on the investigation. The victim, Marissa Lewis, was a burlesque dancer and had a bit of a reputation with the opposite sex so there are several suspects. CCTV footage shows someone waiting for her to arrive home. The footage links the killer to a spate of attacks on people, both men and women, near train stations.. Another fantastic book by Robert Bryndza - this series just gets better and better.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Robert Bryndza for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Wow, wow, wow. I love the Erika Foster books. I can't recommend this series enough. Each one gets better and better.

4.5 stars. I have read all 6 books in this series and I think this was the best. I have enjoyed all 6 books, but enjoyed this more than some of the others because in this one, we didn't know who the killer was until the end. In some of the books, we know who the killer is and are just waiting for Erika and her colleagues to catch them. I much prefer this format and found myself much more engaged in this book for that reason. I also like the fact that these books are pretty gritty and can be a little dark. I think that gives a sense of realism to the crimes. I continue to enjoy the ongoing stories of Erika, Patterson, Moss, etc, and think the author does a very good job with character development that makes me want to continue reading this series.

Erika Foster and her team begin investigating the brutal murder of a young exotic dancer. Simultaneously the city is facing attacks on both men and women from a perpetuator wearing a gas mask. Are these two sets of crimes related and if so, how? While Foster tries to unravel this tangled mess of a case, she must address her own complicated personal life. Erika Foster continually stretches and grows as a character in each new installment which allows readers to fully appreciate Robert Bryndza's continued success.

4 Stars.

Literally, a Scream! Now THIS is the Robert Bryndza we all know and love.

Hot off the heels of her last case, Erika Foster drives by the scene of a murder on Christmas Day and it immediately gets her attention. A woman’s cold, frozen body is found right outside of her home, with her neck slashed. Detectives Foster and McGorry investigate only to find that the body is that of 22 year-old Marissa, a burlesque dancer whose life was anything but ordinary. Meanwhile, a man in a gas mask is assaulting both men and women around town. Are the two related? Detective Moss works feverishly to figure it out before someone else gets hurt.

“Deadly Secrets” is heart-stopping and gritty. This installment includes all of our favorite detectives and also highlights McGorry and Moss specifically, which is a real treat. Foster’s vulnerabilities start to show through, thus, I’m excited to see what‘s next for her. This is one police procedural that increased my pulse rate from the get go and didn’t let up. It is twisty and turny and crazy compelling and that ending? My gosh… while, it might have been a little far-fetched for my liking, it sure got my attention and somehow, I just know it’ll get yours too.

Deadly Secrets is the sixth book in one of our favorite series and was another great read for us. The Girl In The Ice was one of the first sister reads that we did together making this a special series for us. We highly recommend if you haven’t started this series to start with that one. It really is too good to miss.

Norma and I were lost in a coulee reading Deadly Secrets with Susanne and we all really enjoyed reading this one. Things got a little rocky for Susanne and me with the last book to the series Cold Blood. We were left feeling a little uneasy about reading any future installments to the series, but we are happy to say Deadly Secrets left us happy sisters dancing in a coulee after reading it.

What really made Deadly Secrets such a great one for us was Robert Bryndza did such a great job balancing the case with the focus on our characters who we have grown to love. We see more of Erika and more into her personal life as she confronts some of her painful memories from her past. There is also some more focus on Moss and we all were very happy to see her take a bigger role in the case. We liked getting to know her a bit more.

Deadly Secrets starts off strong and keeps on going right to the brilliant ending that left us all very satisfied in our coulee. This is one not to be missed and we all highly recommend.

Deadly Secrets is the latest book in the fantastic and thrilling Erika Foster series. It’s so hard to keep up with crime series, but I love this one, and always make sure I’m up-to-date with the trials and tribulations of Erika.

It’s old news that this series is one of my favourite crime series ever, I’ve been a fan of Erika’s since the very first book. As this is the sixth instalment, I highly recommend reading the series in order as this one contains spoilers for the previous books, particularly the last book, Cold Blood. As someone who has read this entire series, it’s fantastic to see a continuation of the characters’ lives; while the case is a new one, the continuing backstory of the characters shows just how well Bryndza has plotted out the character development aspects of this series.

The case in Deadly Secrets is a chilling one, and the first brutal murder comes in the very first chapter! I’ve said it a million times, I love when a book opens with a murder, it’s a fantastic way to open a novel as you’re presented with so many questions from the onset – who’s the victim, why did they die, was it random or planned, who is the killer? Bryndza certainly knows how to excite crime fiction fans!

The plot that follows was very clever, there were a few times I thought I knew ‘whodunit’ but, I was wrong and so glad I was because the ending to this one was brilliant, a completely unexpected twist. The chapters are short making this a quick read and definitely has that “just one more chapter” feeling – yeah that one-more chapter thing had me up until 3am!

I can’t fawn over Erika enough, one of the things I missed in the last book was the attention paid to her personal life. I was so glad to see it here – while it didn’t overpower the investigation, it just strengthened my love for Erika that little bit more, because I think her portrayal in this one really showed her in a ‘human-light’ – yes, she’s one hell of a fierce and determined detective, but I love seeing how she deals with all that she’s been through/going through in her personal life, her vulnerabilities, and how it’s shaping her as a person.

Deadly Secrets is a thrilling read and showcases just how far people go to keep secrets. It, and this entire series, is perfect for fans of police procedurals and crime thrillers, those who love an exciting plot, filled with great characters. I absolutely recommend this novel and I cannot wait to read book 7!

As I've aged I have gotten horrible about reading series-BUT this is one that I will keep reading.
Because if his worst book is a three that's still pretty dang good.

*Don't think this book is bad because it is not. He just set the bar very high with his other books in this series.

This is number six in the excellent series which feature Detective Erika Foster and each new adventure is my new favourite! A beautiful burlesque dancer is found dead and she leaves a past which seems embroiled with secrets and intrigue. Erika and the team set out to uncover the secrets. There are sightings of a character in a gas mask which become linked to a string of murders. This book is creepy and psychologically chilly. The warmth and humour which are shown through the author's splendid characterization is the perfect offset to his scary storyline. Recommended without any hesitation. Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley. I am addicted to this series.

Robert, how do you do it? Book 6 in a series and it's better than some of the previous 5. I love Erika Foster and the complexity of her personality and her personal life. She is a character you really feel you know. Also, love her colleagues who actually really do care about each other. When a young girl is stabbed brutally on her door step Erika who is on her way to her boss for Christmas lunch decides to divert. There is another story within the book of someone who is attacking both men and women. Is it the same person who stabbed Marissa? You see a bit more of Moss in this book who has to take over the investigation when Erika is called away to look after her step-father. Can't wait for the next book!!

Brilliant. This is another amazing thriller by Robert Bryndza. I was gripped from the start and read it in one sitting. Erica is a really good character and getting to know some of the other members in her team better added to this series. This book kept me guessing and guessing as to who the perpetrator was. The plot is so cleverly put together. I am really looking forward to the next book.

Thank you so much to Netgalley for my copy.
