An enjoyable read if a little predictable if you like stories about the war that are pink and fluffy not gritty you will enjoy this book.

A brilliantly written tale of love, family and heartache, loved every minute, well except Jonnie,( I would of liked to have punched him!) a fantastic read.

Cecily had her life planned, she would marry her sweetheart and live happily ever after, but World War I intervened. Now, with her fiancée lost at sea, she has to regroup. She decides to do what she can to help with the war effort and travels to Paris to entertain the troops. She’s joined by her sister Merryn, and their mother Queenie, a once popular stage star. Merryn finds herself falling for a man who is all show and not much substance as Cecily tries to keep her sister from coming to harm. Meanwhile the two sisters look for answers about their mother’s murky past, hoping it will shine some light on their present predicament. Lightfoot writes huge sweeping historical novels, with larger than life characters and place settings so vivid, you can feel the breezes and smell the lavender
