I am not a sports fan, but I love hockey romance and Toni Aleo does it well. Gus and Bo have such a great chemistry and when she gets hurt and he pitches in to help her... loved that. The chemistry between them and all of the other characters just made this such a fun story.

I really LOVED this addition to the Misadventures series! I thought Toni did an outstanding job with this story! Bo and Gus were fun! Bo a hard working student who is trying to come off some "life mistakes" and make her parents proud. She has walls up and is swearing off boys, she has goals.... Gus the star rookie who has gotten everything in life he ever wanted and has never had a girl say no to him meets his match.
She reminds him of her past, he can't stop thinking about her, she is like no other girl he has ever met. She can't stop thinking about him, but knows he is nothing but trouble.... will Gus get her to give him a chance to prover her wrong? Will he be Abe to show her that love does exist?

LOVED it!

Calamity abounds in this story of love and romance. Mishaps sometimes make for great binders between people without them knowing it. That is the case in this wonderful story of individuals discovering that some things are out of their control

Bocephus (Bo) Jane St. James is driven, dedicated to her plans and learned when it comes to love as well as hear break. She can say “been there, done that, got the T-shirt and not doing it again” and stand behind her reasoning. But surprise, as she discovers, some things are still totally out of her control.

Gus “the Bus” Persson is the hotshot for the local hockey team. His pedigree is outstanding with skills that have been honed since he was a youngster. His current location for hockey play is just a stop on the path to greatness. He understands his path and is just enjoying the ride as it comes to him. Again, little does he know that some things are out of his control.

I have not laughed as hard at a story as I have with this one in some time. Yet I was still cheering all the parties on hoping for the ending we all want. This is a fun story, and putting it down was hard cause the pages really did turn easily.

Toni, you penned a great story most definitely deserving way more than five stars.

Bo and Gus’ chemistry is off the charts! Gus is trying to make it to the NHL by impressing everyone with his performances on and off the ice! His one and done with women is well know and Bo wants no party of him. Being hard to get gives Gus the opportunity to get to know Bo and change his mind about being in a relationship. Bo has a huge secret she is keeping and telling Gus is a risk she struggles with throughout the book. Several part of this book made me laugh out loud and I enjoyed the sparks between Gus and Bo. A very enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed this book. Gus and Bo are like oil and water, she’s been burned in the past, and he’s a cocky hockey player who is a one and done kinda guy. When Bo catches Gus’ eye, she knows he is the exact type of guy she needs to stay away from, but he won’t take no for an answer. Neither of them expect to fall as hard as they do, but when secrets come out and their futures change, they aren’t sure that they have what it takes.

This story was really good, and I liked Bo’s strong personality and how sweet Gus turned out to be. I’d recommend this book.

Let me start by saying that I adore Toni Aleo’s hockey series; I’m a huge sports romance reader and her stories and characters make for fantastic reads. BUT like a lot of readers, I struggled to find any redeeming qualities of the hero, rookie hockey player, Gus Persson, for at least the first quarter of Misadventures with a Rookie. Blame it on a poor first impression…his manwhorish ways…his showboating attitude…I just DID NOT like him, and I couldn’t understand why this was how Aleo characterized him…don’t get me wrong, Gus is actually a pretty decent guy once he allows people beneath his ‘God’s gift to women and hockey’ demeanor, but it was extremely difficult to see past the arrogant and entitled asshole that readers meet at the story of his and Bo’s story.

I’ve read a ton of books that have heroes like Gus, and I usually keep my judgment at bay until I see the reasons behind the hero’s actions. It doesn’t normally bother me when the hero is perceived to be a manwhore or has a higher than normal opinion of himself, but for some reason, Gus rubbed me the wrong way from the start, and I applauded Bo’s ‘stay the hell away from me’ glare and her adamant refusal to give Gus the time of day. But I also knew that Gus was going to wear Bo down because he’s persistent and seems to always get what he wants and it’s clear that there’s an attraction there even if Bo adamantly denies it.

I will say that my opinion of Gus did change for the better as the story progressed due to his interactions with his parents and the time he spends with Bo focusing on her wants and needs, but my initial reaction made it difficult to see him as the man who could prove to Bo that he kept his promises and was nothing like the man who destroyed her heart and made her the guarded woman that she is.

Bo St. James is an interesting heroine, not only because she doesn’t bow down to Gus’ greatness and actually makes him work for every inch he gets with her, but also because she’s learned from her past mistakes and has worked hard to get her life back on track after it was so thoroughly derailed. It’s made clear that Bo’s past wreaks havoc on her present, and as more information is discovered about exactly what happened to her, her fears…her insecurities…her unwillingness to accept Gus’ promises illustrates just how much she doesn’t want to repeat her past decisions and it also proves just how much she was affected by what happened and in some ways is making Gus pay for the first guy who left her behind and broke her.

Overall, I liked Gus and Bo’s story and despite my initial reaction to Gus, he does prove to be a lot more than the one-dimensional person that I and Bo felt he was. Did he completely change my mind about him? No…but that’s simply because everything occurred in warp speed and there just wasn’t enough time to truly see how Gus would be after he moved up to the NHL. I thoroughly enjoyed the snarky banter between Gus and Bo and when Bo finally gave into her desire for Gus, those scenes were scorching, so despite my kind of middle ground feelings about Gus, there were many parts that worked for me as a reader, which is why I continued to read even when my perception of Gus took hit after hit at the beginning.

One click this baby and get ready for a fun, sexy, sweet and entertaining sports romance filled with drama, passion and lots of whitey and engaging banter.

Gus “the Bus” Persson is the newest heartthrob on the ice and is not afraid to play as hard as he works. Bo St. James is a young PT with her eyes on her dream future and no time for any of the hotshot athletes she trains. The sparks are flying and their white hot attraction will not be denied. Overall a must read for any sports romance fan specifically if you enjoy Hockey like I do.

I could not put this book down.

Gus is a hockey phenom who has a very swollen head, cause he's that good but he's in the minor leagues till her gets some experience under his belt. He's never been turned down by a girl till Bo. Bo is a physical therapy student that works at the rink that Gus plays at. She's boisterous, pig-headed, sexually frustrated and "thinks" she hates Gus.

this book had a lot of romance, hot sexual chemistry between Bo and Gus, funny moments between the two and some sweet moments too.

I have received this book as an ARC from NetGalley with the intentions for an honest review.

The perfect blend of romance, humor, and hockey. Bo vows never to fall for a rookie and make the same mistake again, but Gus is equally determined to find out why she can't stand the sight of him. I couldn't put this book down and it makes me want to watch Mighty Ducks as an adult!

**Received an ARC in return for an honest review**

This was unlike the other Misadventure titles I have read thus far in that I did not find myself invested in this title. I felt that the story started very slow and there was not much that drew me in. I felt that both of the main characters, Bo and Gus, fell a bit flat. I like when I feel like I would want to be a friend of the character that I am reading and these two characters, well I would have run away had it been real life.

I found myself enjoying the story later in the book, but that was when I was 90% through the book. I was saddened by the fact that I was finally starting to appreciate the characters because it took me so long to get to that place.

This story and its characters could have really made this book explosive had they revealed their personalities sooner and had the story divulged itself more quickly. I am afraid that it just took too long for my taste.

When hockey player Gus (Bus) Perrson sees Bo St. James out on the ice doing her shift as an ice girl, he thinks “I want her”. When Bo looks at him she see hot hockey god from whom she needs to steer clear. Having had her heart torn apart by a similar guy, Bo is not interested. Gus persists and wears her down. As their relationship heats up, they are falling for each other but her past and a big secret stands in the way of their HEA.
I enjoyed both of these characters. Gus is definitely a ladies man but he changes his love and leave them style when he meets Bo. He comes from a privileged background but he has had bumps in the road. His parents' relationship is actually an integral part in his relationship with Bo in ways he doesn’t realize. Bo is a good person who has been hurt and suffered the consequences from the bad relationship. The chemistry is strong between them and for the most part, they settle their issues like adults. This is a great read by a favorite author.

Gus and Bo both have trust issues (who doesn’t?) and clash at the beginning of this book. Their attraction and chemistry grows slowly at first, but grows steadily throughout the rest of the book. The witty conversations between the two had me laughing out loud, while their sexual tension rises until it can’t be contained. Toni Aleo builds the tension and provides the satisfaction at what feels like just the right pace. As with other books in the Misadventure series, I found a new author, and enjoyed the ride!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and she blew me away. I absolutely loved this book. This is the eleventh book of this amazing Misadventure series. These two characters drew me in in the first page and I couldn’t help myself falling in love with them. I devoured this incredible book in one sitting.

Bo St. James has not had it easy. She has always had to work for what she has. Bo doesn’t have time for a rookie even though he is gorgeous. She knows how they all are players and arrogant. Bo goes out one night and the rookie will not give up. Gus will not take no for an answer. She knows Gus “the bus” is a womanizer and she wants to stay away from him. Bo quickly realizes that Gus is totally different than she first thought. Will Bo take a chance on this rookie or will she keep her eye on her goals?

Gus “the bus” Persson loves hockey and woman. He is the top rookie in his class. Gus knows what he wants until he meets the spunky Bo. He is instantly attracted to her but she wants nothing to do with him. Gus has never been rejected. He takes his time to get to know Bo. Gus realizes that he has real feelings for this beautiful woman but does she feel the same?

I loved this book right from the beginning. This story has it all romance, struggles, and forgiveness. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Bo is a hard working independent woman that doesn’t need a man. She is a sweetheart but she also can bring the sass. I didn’t care for Gus in the beginning. He was arrogant and full of himself but once he opened up his heart to Bo I fell for him. The way that Gus treats Bo will make your heart melt. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your toes curl. This book had me laughing at the banter that these two characters have. This talented author wrote a perfect book that fits perfectly to this epic series. I can’t wait to read the next adventure.

THOUGHTS: I took a chance on this one, because I love Toni Aleo. I hadn't read any of the other Misadventure books, however not only does this read like a NA book, but it is one of those on the immature side that drives me crazy. For that reason, it was a bit of a disappointment to me. I thought since I was a fan of the Assassins series, that it would filter into my enjoyment of this, but it just didn't work for me.

Misadventures with a Rookie
By: Toni Aleo
📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Can they beat the odds?

Being a huge fan of Toni Aleo’s writing I had huge expectations starting this book and knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I wasn’t!!!😘

"The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns to see if these two could get away from what they believe is there forever story”

Authors Blurb: Winning has always come naturally for stud ice hockey defenseman Gus “the Bus” Persson. On the ice or off, he’s never had any trouble scoring, racking up goals—and girls. As the best player in his rookie class and the number-one draft pick of the Malibu Suns, he’s taking his game to the next level and is justifiably full of swagger.

So why does one of the Suns’ ice girls treat him like he’s invisible?

Bo St. James doesn’t have time for rookie hotshots who think their gloves don’t stink. She knows them, she works with them, she trains them. It doesn’t matter that Gus Persson is the hottest newbie she’s ever seen. She knows his type. She’s got big plans of her own, and she’s not going to let some cocky rich kid athlete keep her from her goals.

But there’s a chemistry between them they cannot deny. A lust that burns so hot, it threatens to melt the very ice on which they make their livings. The game has changed for both of them. Together, can these two play to win?

I really enjoyed this laugh out loud book it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. Bo is feisty and unforgiving at times with her no it all attitude and oh had she met her match in Gus. This is a fun, hot, romantic, funny must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.

The Misadventures series is such a great collection of stories by different authors. I've enjoyed every one of the books that I have read (and I've read all of them to date) and none of the books have disappointed.

Misadventures with a Rookie is a romance between a rookie professional hockey player, Gus "The Bus" Persson and an ice girl who is working towards her sports therapy degree, Bo St. James! Gus is very popular with the ladies and he has his sight set on Bo. Bo has been burned by the same type of person as Gus so she isn't falling for his flirting. Bo is actually hostile towards Gus and Gus has to figure out why since he has never done anything to her. The love/hate relationship between Gus and Bo is hilarious especially when both of them continue to end up in the ER for injuries that no one would believe! Gus is so easy going and wants to get to know Bo better since he senses that she is someone he wants to know more than a one night stand. Bo is attracted to Gus and it frustrates her because she doesn't want to get hurt again. But Bo starts to realize that Gus isn't the type of person that she thought he was so she hesitantly gives him a chance. However, when Bo's past comes up, she isn't sure if she work through it with Gus. Gus was surprised at first but then realizes that he still wants a relationship with Bo.

The interactions between Bo and Gus (and him making fun of her name) and Gus and his parents are hilarious and makes you wish you had that kind of relationship with your parents and significant other. The romance between Bo and Gus is funny and sweet and entertaining! What a great story!

This is my first book from Toni Aleo and I loveeeee it, definitely one of my favorite books from the Misadventures series. This one is an Enemies to Lovers read.
She's done with cocky arrogant Rookie and he'll do his best to get under her skin. Oh yeah I love this kind of story. It start with hot passionate arguments and since then I can't put it down. It's packed with emotio, it got me laugh, angry and frustrated and of course got me hot and bothered. And I love how the author keep me wondering what exactly happened in the Go's past.

As for characters, I love Go and Gus, their banter is superb, these two are very loveable characters, although sometimes I want to smack them, I can't not love them and root for them.

If you love enemies to lovers read, this book is a MUST-READ and I think you'll love it.

Gus Persson has never had to work hard for anything in his life, especially for the attention from a woman; but when it comes to Bo St. James that’s exactly what he has to do. This woman hates him and he can’t imagine why, they don’t know each other at all they’ve never even spoken. The more she ignores him the more he’s determined to win her over.
Bo St. James has had her fill of men like Gus Persson, rich boys who think everyone is going to fall at his feet. Problem is, most of the women due. Gus has a strict “one and done” policy; he doesn’t do relationship yet women are actually trying to convince him to give them another go! This does nothing to tame his out of control ego. As much as she wants to continue to hate him Bo can’t lie to her-self that she is majorly attracted to this arrogant jerk.
You ever read a book and when you are done absolutely hate that you read it? Well this is one of those books for me. I hate that I gave this book a chance because I will never get to experience the initial feelings had reading this book. I could read it over a dozen times and never feel what I felt the first time I actually disliked these two, never experience how initially felt laughing at these two, or never experience the first time I realized how much I loved these two again. For lack of a better description, I guess it’s like that first high an addict experiences. No matter how many more time they get high they will never achieve that initial feeling.
I’m a Toni Aleo fan and this book was a new experience for me. Usually I’m reading her series and with each new book you kind of already know the characters because they appeared in one or more of the previous books. Not this time. I had no idea who these people where and didn’t know anything about them I was kind of going in blind. When I first started I didn’t think I was going to like it simply because I didn’t like either of the characters. Bo was just a straight up bitch. I mean this chick went in hard with her dislike for Gus and considering she didn’t even know it, I couldn’t wrap my head around it and Bo….I mean Jesus, what a freaking jerk! This dude slept with pretty much any chick and let it be known…he also let it be known that it was his thing to hit and run. Somewhere along the way there was a shift and these two became very likeable. Aside from his man-whoring, Gus was actually a really sweet guy and for a guy who didn’t do relationships, he slid into the boyfriend roll pretty easily and Bo, for as rude as she was to him, her heart softened pretty easily. I think of all of books, these two are my favorite couple.
There are some secrets discovered and some self-discovery that help make this one damned good read.

3 1.2 Star Review......

The beginning of Misadventures of a Rookie almost had me closing the book in disgust. The main character Gus Persson was the most arrogant, self-absorbed, chauvinistic a**shole you could ever NOT want to meet. So why did I continue? At some point I realised that this self-proclaimed womaniser had suddenly developed a heart, and might just turn into a decent man.

And while this really wasn't one of my favourite books in the Misadventures series, the author’s writing was interesting and the overall story was an entertaining, fun and a seriously sexy read. I do wish the ending hadn’t have been so abrupt though; it just seemed that there should have been something more.
