This book didn't really keep my interest but it wasn't terrible either. I enjoyed it but felt like some things weren't completely fleshed out and talked about, just little glimpses, summaries (the exes)

A big thank you to NetGalley and Loveswept/Random House Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. This was a fun book. A friend's to lovers. I really enjoyed the father/daughter times. Made me laugh. Cute story. I think most romance readers would enjoy. I rated it a 3.5.

From blind date to friends to nanny to lovers. This is a heartfelt romance about finding a connection and allowing it to grow in lots of ways before finally seeing that the connection is so much more than just friendly.

It's a great read about a single dad who has grown a lot and a former foster kid who has to learn that sometimes you have to be brave enough to stay even when that's never really worked out before.

I recommend it.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

So many good things to say about this book! I had not read the blurb ahead of time. I love Serena Bell's books so I didn't need to, and I did not know what I was in for. I LOVE single dad books, but am not usually a fan of said single dad sleeping with the nanny. I've read a couple, and they don't do it for me. This was also a Friends to Lovers story, which I love, but it's possible that I liked it so much because Ms. Bell writes the Sleeping with the Nanny story better than anyone else. :)

Liv and Chase both had complicated histories, which resulted in each of them having trouble trusting that the people in their lives are going to stay. Their stories are heartbreaking in their own way, so you understand why they have lived their lives the way they have up to this point. They had met on a blind date and decided that it would never work between them, allowing each of them to be themselves with the other, forming a basis for a beautiful friendship. Chase is a single dad to his daughter Katie, and when they find themselves without a nanny, Liv steps in temporarily until it's time for her to leave for a job in another state.

I have been reading a lot of slow burn books lately, so I would have preferred a little more buildup to their coming together, but I suppose what came after was so good, I wouldn't have wanted to wait much longer for it. Ms. Bell is very good at writing sexy times, and Liv and Chase spend a lot of time getting sexy together! This story is about much more than that, though, and it actually caused me to tear up several times. I loved these characters, and I loved their journey, and I'm glad I got to review this book through netgalley.

Friends to lovers is my favorite trope and that is what drew me in to the title. The single dad/nanny is not my favorite couple pairing and that probably lessened my joy for the overall story. I thought the writing was fine and the story was appealing with good characters. I plan to read more of Serena's books (this was my first) because I found this one to be a flirty, light read.

"They thought they were wrong for each other. That was before she moved in. . . ."

I have mixed feelings about this novel. I wanted to love it, but it was just okay. The concept was fun, but the characters fell flat. I wasn't able to relate to either Chase or Liv and their banter felt very repetitive. "Head Over Heels" was a quick read and I'd recommend it to those who like very formulaic and predictable plot lines.

Thank you to NetGalley and Loveswept for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

when chase and liv become best friends after a bad blind date, it's perfection. they are complete opposites after all. he's an outdoorsy guy who prefers action flicks and minimalist décor, while she is a high-maintenance, rom-com, fluffy pillows kind of girl.

in head over heels, everything changes for them when liv moves into chase's to help him out with his five-year-old daughter. suddenly all those things that seemed to make them incompatible start to fit together perfectly. but liv has plans, she's leaving seattle for denver. everything in her life thus far has taught her that it's best to plan to leave because nothing is ever permanent.

she's never had a home and doesn't want to believe the one that she and chase and katie build together can be something real. all that chemistry, all that friendship, all those deep feelings are real. and what liv and chase find together is something worth sticking around for.

**head over heels will publish on june 5, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/random house publishing group (loveswept) in exchange for my honest review.

Excellent contemporary romance about two people so different that it works. Chase is a single dad trying to run a sporting goods store and care for his daughter. Liv has been a close friend to Chase and his daughter, Katie. Liv has a lot of baggage that keeps her from getting to close to people. Chase has his own past he's trying to deal with. The author did a great job developing the main characters so that they seem like a readers friends. There is drama, heartache as well as laughter. I received a complementary copy of this book via NetGalley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Bell.

Head over Heels by Serena Bell is a fun and sexy romantic comedy with a ‘friends to lovers’ theme and a single dad who discovers the woman he wants has been there all along.

Chase Crayton is in a bit of a bind. He’s recently become the sole parent to his five year old daughter Katie and he needs someone to help him at home. While searching for a full time nanny, he asks his best friend Liv Stratten, currently couch surfing while waiting to start her new marketing job a few states away if she’d consider being Katie’s live-in caretaker for the few weeks until she leaves. It would give Liv a place to stay and she’d earn some money before heading off. Plus, they’d get to spend some time together.

Liv knew right away when she and Chase went on their ill-fated blind date that they were meant to be just friends. Or were they? Because now that she’s moved in, there’s a spark of attraction that they’d somehow avoided before. A friends with benefits arrangement suits them both, with the promise that their friendship won't change. But when it’s time for her to go, will it be so easy to say goodbye?

I love reading Serena Bell romances. She writes high quality, thoroughly enjoyable stories with the right mix of laughs, possibly a few tears (she always manages to pull a few out of me) and characters who are people you would want to have in your life. Ivy and Chase are great examples. Likable, friendly and easy going, they have an opposites attract friendship. They have different tastes in movies and restaurants but it makes for lots of banter and teasing.

Both Liv and Chase have their share of issues. Chase’s ADHD in school made for frustrations for him, his teachers and his parents. As a result, Chase’s dad didn’t trust Chase to not screw up his company and sold it, leaving Chase to find something else. The outdoors is his calling, and working at a sporting goods store is enjoyable and fulfilling, though he hasn’t been able to make the leap to purchase it outright from his boss who wants to sell. The lack of confidence from those around him that he experienced when he was younger still resonates and makes him question whether he wants to be tied down to a permanent business. But he knows one thing – he’ll do anything to make his daughter happy. He’s a great dad, concerned and caring, willing to play dress up and calm her nightmares.

Liv grew up in a succession of foster homes after the early death of her mother. She learned that the only home you have is the one you bring with you, and not to rely on people to make you feel safe. While she and Chase have had an awesome friendship, when it turns to something more it’s a scary feeling. Their love scenes are steamy and passionate, but when they connect emotionally Liv has to decide whether it’s worth the risk to trust in Chase that he won’t let her fall. Her relationship with Katie is sweet, and they bond quickly. In the end she decides that home is indeed where the heart is and we get a lovely happy ending for this new family. While it is a standalone romance, Chase’s friend Jack is from Ms. Bell’s equally enjoyable second chance romance Do Over and I’m hoping his other friend Brooks is in the running for a happy ever after too!

Head Over Heels is the story of Chase, a single father rearing a young daughter, and Liv, Chase's best friend. Although unusual, Chase and Liv have an amazing platonic friendship. When Liv moves in as Katie's temporary nanny, the relationship begins to change. I will post no spoilers so you will need to read the book to see the outcome.
This was a well-written romance intended for mature audiences due to adult language and graphic sex scenes. If you enjoy steamy (not erotic) romances, this one is worth reading.

I have read and reviewed books for Serena Bell before. She writes uncomplicated romance novels that resonate with her readers. Head Over Heels is not any different. This book was a quick read with a hot romance and memorable characters. But, for some reason, I didn’t get as into this book as I should have. It was because of the opposite attracts angle. I also couldn’t connect with Liv. Her commitment issues bothered me.

I liked that this book was a quick read. I have read a lot of books with heavier subjects, so to pick this one up and get lost in a romance was fantastic. I didn’t have to think too much when reading it. Again, another plus. That is also the main reason I read romances. Because they are usually lighter in subject and I don’t have to waste too much brain space on them.

The chemistry between Chase and Liv was hot. Which is why I was confused when it was made clear that they were incompatible. I mean, their chemistry was off the pages hot. I didn’t get it. Maybe it’s me (thinking that it is me….lol). Their sex scenes were on the same page too. Unbelievably hot. I got all flustered reading them. Like I have stated in other reviews, if my Kindle could have steamed up, it would have.

Like I mentioned above, the characters were memorable. Their backstories got to me. Chase being a manly outdoorsman with a 5-year old that he didn’t know about until almost a year after she was born. Liv, a nanny, being in foster care and having issues putting down roots because of that. The author did a great job of taking their backgrounds and creating characters that stood out in your minds.

Unfortunately, I could not connect with Liv. Her issues with commitment were awful and put a huge damper on her relationship with Chase. I started to get irritated with her when she couldn’t give Chase the commitment he wanted because they were different. It made me groan and think to myself “Should I skip to the ending. Because we know how it’s going to end“.

I did like Chase’s daughter. She reminded me of my 4-year-old. My 4-year-old doesn’t have a Frozen obsession, though. She has a Coco obsession. Her nightmares and meltdowns over her mother were heartbreaking. I wanted to cuddle her.

The end of Head Over Heels was cute. I loved that it ended well for everyone in the book.

What I liked about Head Over Heels:

A) Hot romance

B) Quick read

C) Memorable characters

What I disliked about Head Over Heels:

A) The opposites attract angle. Should have stayed with the besties become lovers

B) Liv. She had huge commitment issues and I couldn’t connect with her

C) Couldn’t get into the book

I would give Head Over Heels an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is no violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

There are no trigger warnings in Head Over Heels.

I am on the fence about rereading Head Over Heels. I am also on the fence about recommending it to friends and family. I would be open to reading other books by this author in the future.

I would live to thank Random House Publishing Group, Loveswept, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Head Over Heels.

All opinions stated in Head Over Heels are mine.

Chase and Liv have been friends for 3 years. They met on a blind date and said no way would they work together as a couple. But friendship worked out perfectly. They both have pasts that affect their commitments to relationships. Liv is moving away in a few weeks and Chase needs help with his 5 year old daughter, Katie. So Liv becomes the live-in nanny until it’s time for her to leave. Well of course one thing leads to another and just friends turn into friends with benefits. And they are hot together for sure. The book reads very smoothly and keeps you completely immersed in the story. A very sweet, emotional ending.

This was a cut story about best friends who finally realize how perfect they are for each other. It was sweet, funny and quite charming, actually.

Chase and Liv we're so perfect for each other, it took them three years to finally realize it.

Great story!

Head Over Heels by Serena Bell
4 Easy-Read Stars

This book was exactly what I needed right now - Head Over Heels was such a steamy, quick easy read that left me feeling all lovey-dovey. I started out curled up on the sofa and became quickly engaged in Chase and Olivia's story. The story flowed nicely from the first chapter to last, the characters were witty and had great banter, and I enjoyed the storyline.
Head Over Heels is a friends-to-lovers romantic comedy with a sliver of heartache mixed in. The story starts out with Chase looking for a nanny for his 5-year-old daughter who unexpectedly came into his care full time after her mother passes away. Lucky for him his best friend has 2 weeks of her time suddenly become available while she is in between jobs, and getting ready to move out of town. Olivia and Chase gave "dating" a shot years before and decided to just be friends, so the next two weeks should be a win-win for both of them - right?

If you are looking for a flirty, fun and light read - then look no further and add this baby to your TBR shelf.

What can say about this book? It's cute and it's fun, it's a bit angsty, emotionally gripping and it's also HOT. Chase is a single dad in need of a nanny for his young daughter who is still dealing with the death of her mother. Liv is best friend with a little time on her hands before she moves away to take her latest dream job. Neither knows what they are getting into when Liv agrees to move in and help him out. I loved these characters and my heart broke for each of them as their story unfolded.

I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers story and this one didn't disappoint.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the book for those looking for a heartwarming but fun romance.

Chase now has to take care of his young daughter after her mother passed away. He finally has the chance of being present in little Katie’s life but he also needs someone he can trust as a nanny. That’s when he thinks of his best friend, who is in the middle of changing jobs, Liv. Liv is moving to another state, but she still has some time in town to fill in until Chase finds a definite nanny. But his house gradually becomes the home she never thought she’d have.

This was the basic but healthy romance, so of course the highlights were the scenes Liv is with Katie. What I also loved was how far the main characters’ analyses went. I was positively surprised, considering the story was, as I mentioned, pretty much the basic. But by the end I feel as if I got intimate with the main characters’ psyche.

This was a quick and nice read. There were some sex scenes, which I’m not fond of reading so I can’t analyze them. Still, the story was very light. Not on the creative side, plot-wise, but you can see the author didn’t want to make more of the same.

Chase and Liv meet on a blind date and although they form a friendship, each knew this is never gonna work. She is a girly girl and he is all about the outdoors. I love a good friends to lovers story. This one touched a little more than some because I felt their pain. Each have a past that eats away at them and what really holds them back is neither wants to ever be hurt again. So when Chase needs a temporary Nanny and Live takes the job, what could wrong? She leaving in 2 weeks for a new job. Why not help out her best friend. Only one night and a kiss later they decide to be friends with benefits. Things begin to get a little crazy when each find their feelings are changing. Herein lies the problem. Chase and Liv are not willing to take a chance not matter what.

The good storyline and well rounded characters captured my attention from the very first page and I couldn't put this book down until I read the very last page!

Although we all knew where the book was heading from the beginning, it was so fun getting there! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this was no exception.
