Head Over Heels by Serena Bell was an adorable friends-to-lovers romance. Two friends who met on a blind date years ago and realized quickly they were not meant to be more than friends, right? They had great banter and chemistry.

Chase Crayton is now a single father in need of help. With his job on the line, he needs someone to help with his five-year old. Who better to help temporarily then his friend Liv? They are friends and having her live with them should make it easy, right?

Olivia, Liv, wants to help Chase. It is only temporary, and, in the meantime, she will be helping a friend. Nice and easy, that is until they spend more and more time together and share a very unforgettable kiss. Can they find a way together before its too late?

Overall, Heads Over Heels was a cute friends-to-lovers story. Nothing original, but nice story to get lost in for an afternoon.

Happy reading!

Head Over Heels by Serena Bell is a sexy friends to lovers romance. The two main characters, sporting goods store manager Chase Crayton, and marketing guru Olivia Stratten, have been the best of friends for three years. Chase is a single dad, and his five-year-old daughter needs a new nanny. Liv, who has nanny experience, is moving to Denver in a couple of weeks. She volunteers to move-in and take care of Chase's daughter while he searches for a full-time caregiver. Even though Liv and Chase are commitment phobic, their evolving feelings cause them to reevaluate their friends-only future.

This is an nicely written novel, and Liv and Chase are interesting, complex and genuine. Liv is a success, in spite of her troubled childhood. Chase is a new dad, and works hard to ensure that his daughter is well cared for. The sex scenes are hot and replete with passion. If you enjoy a story with a lot energy and some funny moments, then pick up a copy of Head Over Heels. This book may be enjoyed as a standalone.

I discovered this author about six months ago and I am adding all of her books to my TBR. I enjoy her writing that much.

I was really excited to see Jack from Do Over in the beginning of this book but other than that brief appearance, neither he nor Maddie were in the story. I was a little disappointed but Chase and Liv made up for it! I'm a huge sucker for friends to lovers but the take on this was unique. Chase and Liv became friends after a blind date. I feel like that made this a bit of second chance too, which is my other weakness. Chase and Liv really believed they were opposites and I loved how they started to discover that they had way more in common than they ever thought. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Chase and Liv's friends to get their own HEA!!

A delightful book about friendship, loss and romance. Chase has recently received custody of his young daughter Katie, due to the death of her mother. After firing his current nanny, he is in immediate need of a replacement. His best friend Liv has done nanny work in the past and agrees to fill in until she leaves town for a new job. They met for the first time on a blind date and although didn’t hit it off romantically, they became best friends. Both of them have things in their past that affect them to this day. The characters are complex and their personal issues unfold throughout the book. I highly recommend this book!

A delightful, well written book about friends evolving into lovers. The characters and plot well were so well developed that I was immediately drawn in and held until the very end of the book. I received ARC of the
book through Netgalley and have voluntarily chosen to write this review. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can heartily recommend it.

Friends to Lovers are the best kind of stories!

Chase Crayton needs a nanny and his best friend Olivia (Liv) Stratten offers to nanny his daughter Katie until she moves to Denver for a new job because she never stays very long in one spot because she had spent time in the foster care system after the death of her mother. Chase loved to outdoor store that he managed and the owner offered to let him buy it from him on payments but with an outdoor superstore nearby he wasn’t so sure because he had Katie to provide for.

Liv and Chase’s journey to a relationship was a very different friend to lovers because they actually had met on a bad blind-date that they both hated because they both had prior broken relationships but they ended up being friends first and the lovers’ part came later.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Liv and Chase’s story is about two people who’ve been burned before and after years of avoiding deeper feelings, learn to break down their walls and take a second chance at love, all the while hoping this time, they’ve put their trust in the right person. I liked seeing both of them work together as a team. They each approached a problem differently and in their own way learned to appreciate each other’s differences. It took a while for them to figure out that differences didn’t mean a ticking time bomb, but a chance to grow and change to something better.

This was a bit angsty but overall a nice second chance romance/friends to lovers story.

Would I recommend?
I enjoyed the second half better, Chase and Liv were cute together and I couldn’t figure out why they’d waited so long to be together. A solid three stars read.

This was my second book by the author and while this is set in the same "world" as Do Over, other than a brief cameo by Jack, it reads as a total standalone.

I find that friends-to-lovers isn't always the easiest trope to pull off as sometimes it's hard to strike that balance between showing a couple that were friends, but then suddenly "woke up" to the attraction. Frankly, sometimes I just don't find the transition believable. That was not the case with Head over Heels. Liv and Chase didn't have the most conventional friendship having met on a blind date that didn't work out, but I bought their dynamic. They were "friends" but maybe not best friends – there was still some mystery about their backgrounds which kept things interesting.

Chase was absolutely swoony – I mean, let's face it... There's just something about a well-written single Dad, right?? That being said, Liv's childhood certainly explained her reluctance to commit. Both characters had their own demons to slay so it was nice that the "obstacle" to the relationship was not just on one character's side.

I will definitely be checking out more of this author's works.

I enjoy a good friends to lovers story, and this was one of the better ones I have read lately. Liv and Chase had a blind date where upon the agreed that dating would never do as they were too opposite, but in spite of that date became “best friends”. Chase has a daughter, Katie, who in my opinion steals the show with her cuteness and when he loses his nanny, Liv agrees to take over as nanny until she has to move to Denver in 2 weeks. This gives them just enough time to fall in love even though neither will acknowledge it. Serena Bell writes great characters and her dialogue is generally spot on. Really enjoyed this book. It was a fun read!

Wonderful friends-to-lovers romance!

Chase and Liv are *just friends* - really - because they both recognized when they met on a blind date that they were all wrong for each other, but they like hanging out together. This works fine, until Chase's ex-girlfriend dies and leaves their daughter in his full-time care and puts him in desperate need of a nanny. Which just happens to be one of Liv's many talents.

But Liv is on her way out of town, having accepted a new job and following her life-long pattern of never staying long enough in one place to actually get attached to people. So she agrees to fill in for a couple weeks while Chase finds a permanent nanny, but of course, nothing goes as planned.

This romance was a lot of fun to read. Both Liv and Chase are relatable characters, and their need to protect their hearts comes across beautifully. The romance is slow-building with plenty of sexual tension and an abundance of caution, as would be expected in a relationship that also takes into consideration the needs of a small child. Themes of compatibility, abandonment, security, and risk drive this romance to its inevitable HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Chase Crayton and Olivia "Liv" Stratten are best friends. Sure they met when they were set up on a blind date 3 years ago but they quickly realized that they are not dating compatible. Flash forward 3 years and now Chase is in need of nanny for his 5 year old daughter, Katie, who suddenly came to live with him because her mom died. When Liv gets a new job out of town, she agrees to move in with Chase and watch Katie until she has to leave. Until then, she'll help him find a new nanny.

Well neither Chase nor Liv ever expected that living in the same house would open such new feelings between the two. Suddenly they are super aware of each other. As these two spend more time together things quickly change. Now that they are both aware of their feelings for each other in ways that they never had before, they have to decide if it is worth possibly ruining their friendship over a chance at true happiness.

I just adored Chase and Liv. They both were so comfortable with each. They could laugh, tease and just be themselves with the other. I loved the story these two went through to find their happy ending. It was fun, romantic and sexy! All around a great story with even a greater ending!

Chase Crayton runs Mike’s Outdoor Store. He recently got custody of his daughter, Katie age 5, after her mother died. Now, he needs to hire a nanny.

Olivia (Liv) Stratten is a good friend to Chase. They dated once and realized that while they got along well, there was no spark between them. Now, they are just friends. She has been working as a nanny for a local family. But when she tells them that she has taken a job in another state and gives them her notice, they decide to let her go right away. So, she agrees to be a nanny to Katie for a short while until Chase finds someone else and she departs for her new job.

Katie and Liv hit it off right away. Liv knows how to handle Katie’s grief at the loss of her mother while helping to settle her into her life with her Dad. Liv helps to show Chase how to care for his daughter and also how to learn to play little girl games.

A predictable love story. If you like a short read with a lot of sex scenes then this is the book for you.

Chase Crayton is a new, full-time dad. When he asks his best friend, Olivia Stratten to be his temporary nanny until he can find someone permanent, sparks they never expected, start to fly. I love a good friends to lovers romance, add in the nanny factor, and I'm sold!

Chase is such a great hero. I don’t know if it’s because he reminds me of one of my sons (okay – it’s definitely because he reminds me of one of my sons) but I have such a soft spot for him. The limitations he faced as a child and young adult, yet overcame when nobody gave him the benefit of the doubt, were no joke. The troubles he had are all too often chalked up to a person being stupid or undisciplined. The fact that those that should be his biggest supporters couldn’t see that he’s changed and taken control of his life is just heartbreaking to me.

Luckily, Liv is also a wonderful character. She’s been through a lot and come through the other side even stronger. She has blinders on when it comes to her own wants and needs, but she is extremely empathetic to others. That’s what makes her such a wonderful nanny and friend. She has emotional instincts that not everyone can claim to have.

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of the friends to lovers trope. This author did a great job with this one. She is able to answer the question about why two people with undeniable chemistry didn’t realize they were meant for each other. The question of how they kept such a close friendship without seeing what was right in front of their faces. And when that seal was finally broken, she did a fantastic job of bringing the heat.

Unfortunately, just as when I read this author’s Do Over, there are quite a bit of continuity issues. That is pet peeve of mine, especially when I’m reading such an engaging book. To be taken out of an amazing story by these little errors is beyond frustrating. I’m still giving this story a pretty high rating because I just couldn’t put it down. I got so many warm-fuzzies and even quite a few tears. That’s good story-telling in my mind.

After a failed blind date about three years ago, instead of moving on and never seeing each other again, Chase and Liv quickly became best friends. Now, they help each other decompress after other various bad dates without the added tension of anything happening between them. When Chase is forced to fire his current nanny, Liv agrees to step into the position temporarily as she just accepted a new job in Denver beginning in two weeks. It's also convenient because now she'll have somewhere she can stay until the move. However, as Chase and Liv are constantly in each other's sights it becomes apparent that maybe they are attracted to each other besides in friendship. What begins as a tentative temporary fling, quickly heads into serious territory. But will their fears keep them from speaking the words they both want to hear?

It's be awhile since I've read a friends-to-lovers romance, and this is the first book I've read by Serena Bell. I think she did a wonderful job of making the layers on conflicts and hang-ups that Chase and Liv face seem really plausible to their romance. And I really like their friendship, even with the undeniable layers of apparent attraction they have for one another.

Liv grew up in foster care and was never really in a place for a long time. She learned quickly to not set down roots and be ready for change at the drop of a hat. This has all influenced her spate of dates / relationships that didn't work out. As soon as she gets too attached, something always comes along and rips it away, leaving her heart broken. So she's kind of guarded herself against this happening again.

Chase, on the other hand, has always been treated as the family screw-up and honestly for a good long while he wasn't taking his life as seriously as he could have. That all changed when he found out his former girlfriend had his baby. Like that, Chase turned his life around and became the father his daughter needed, but he still has to prove himself again and again to people.

You could really understand why Liv doesn't hang around places for long and why Chase is leery about putting himself out there. They're both bracing for rejection. It's heartbreaking, but Serena Bell wrote these things in a very relatable way. I loved watching them navigate their feelings for one another.

While I really enjoyed this book, I also felt like it was just a pretty standard book. I think it's written well with great characters and a good story. So why 3 stars? Well, I'd say because it's just a fine book. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but there is also equally nothing outstanding and game changing about it.

I will definitely check out other books by Serena Bell, and I'm pretty sure there's some secondary characters from Head Over Heels who are begging to get their Happily Ever After and I'll gladly pick up that book and see where things go.

I really enjoyed this friends to lovers story. It was fun, flirty and eventually oh so sexy. Chase and Liv are so cute together and they were great as friends they made an even better romantic couple. The story is funny, cute, and wonderfully written. These characters will touch your hear. I highly recommend this one.

Head Over Heels is quite possibly the fluffiest book I've read all year. It's so fluffy, in fact, that I'm not sure I ever understood what fluffy meant until I read this book. I mean, there is some angst to it that could be intense, but this novel is really just about getting Chase and Liv together and everything else that could cause trouble just...doesn't. Like, the mother of Chase's kid has died but...it doesn't really matter? And Liv has some trauma in her past where she bounced around from home to home but...it also doesn't really matter? Not that the issues are swept under the rug but...they just don't matter. This book is just about Chase and Liv finally ending up together.

And, boy, do they. The first part of this book was a little hum-drum (that's a phrase, right?) but, once Chase and Liv started getting together (don't worry, it doesn't take that long), everything was fine. SO. MUCH. FLUFF.

Did I love it? Of course I did. This book is about Liv taking Chase's adorable kid shopping at Target for cute housewares. It's also about Chase and Liv getting it on everywhere. It's about Liv wanting to do her hair but also learning how to be absolutely filthy on a camping trip. It's also about Chase's adorable kid coming up with absolutely adorable games and catch phrases (I don't want to spoil them for you here).

Should you read it? Looking for nothing but pure fluff?  Look no further! In fact, I talked myself up from three-and-a-half to four stars just writing this review.

Head Over Heels is an amusing friends to lovers romance. It does touch on some deeper topics - the loss of Katie's mother and Liv growing up in foster care - but the story doesn't delve deep enough to create much angst, so it's a pretty light-hearted read overall.

Despite the story being well-written and some absolutely adorable scenes with Chase's five-year-old daughter, I still came away with a middle of the road feeling. I didn't dislike it, but it's not one that I would look at later and remember details. Part of that comes from a somewhat slow build on the first half of the book, but I think most of it is that I kept reading, looking for that something that stands out, that makes this one different from a sea of other friends to lovers, nanny romances. It just wasn't there. The story has all the right elements, but it's practically a cardboard cutout for this type of romance, which made it completely predictable. The only surprise for me was the sheer amount of steam in the second half of the book. Seriously, one encounter was three chapters long. I like a good, sexy read as well as the next person, but without that emotional connection, it's just another steamy scene.

In the end, it's a pleasant enough story for a bit of light reading, but not one that I would feel a burning desire to read again at a later date.

Thanks Netgalley for a ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

A first for me by this author and I was pleasantly surprised by a charming read. Liv and Chase are friends who have tried to date but when things don't hit it off they become friends instead. Novelty idea since Chase needs a nanny and Liv is leaving town soon to head to Seattle for a new job. Living together makes sparks fly....and clothes too. While it wasn't thunderbolts of love when they originally met, its obvious both are carrying baggage and denying plausible attraction. Living together it's undeniable and the book ends with a super romantic reality. I give the author three and a half stars for a charming book.

Cute, fun friends to lovers romance

Serena Bell made me smile while reading Head over Heels.
Liv and Chase were both really likable characters, people I'd love to know. It was so apparent how much they cared for each other and Chase's daughter Katie. The dialogue was realistic as was the plot. In spite of a few missteps on their parts I was happy to see all 3 of them get their HEA.
