Freddy Ferguson , private investigator, is catching a flight home to D.C. from the San Francisco airport when he spots a young woman who seems to be in trouble. The man who seems to have her trapped puts her on a plane headed for Hawaii. At the last moment, she gets off the plane, unnoticed by everyone except Freddy, and boards another flight in disguise. Just a few minutes later, the flight headed for Hawaii explodes, a bomb killing everyone on board. The office Freddy works for is hired by the airline to investigate alongside the FBI. As Freddy looks into the mysterious woman, he’s pretty sure she didn’t blow up the plane, but she may have the answers to who did and why. However, she’s disappeared into thin air, and she seems to want to stay that way, so Freddy won’t have any answers unless he can find her first.

This was easily one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time. If it wasn’t positively dripping in f words and other strong language, I would have given it 5 stars without hesitation. It was so well-written and believable. I kept feeling shocked that no news stations or social media accounts were covering the plane bombing, and then I’d have to remind myself that a plane didn’t actually explode in the San Francisco Bay; it was only in the book. Freddy was a great protagonist. He’s got his flaws and his past mistakes, but you can see how he’s trying to do good in the world in his own way. He’s a great investigator, and while he does get lucky a bit, he really digs in and does the hard work to follow the leads he gets and picks up the pieces to the puzzle bit by bit. Occasionally, the flashbacks annoyed me for breaking up the narrative, but that’s just because the story was so compelling and I wanted to see what would happen next. They were important, though, because it really helped you understand how Freddy came to be the person he is in the book’s present day. The story even delves briefly into the philosophical realm and looks at how trials and hardships push some people away from God and causes other people to reach out to Him and become closer. (The author doesn’t really explore this or try to explain it; different characters just have different reactions as far as their spiritual beliefs.)

Like I said, I can’t recommend it to my close friends and family because of the excessive swearing, but otherwise an excellent read. Thanks to NetGalley for the free ebook.

This is an intriguing read, gripping form the start. After observing a good looking woman almost manhandled onto a flight to Hawaii Freddy Ferguson learns later that that flight crashed into the sea with a craft full of passengers. He and his partner are called upon to investigate the incident and the reasons behind the devastating crash. First and foremost in his mind is the woman whose fate too was almost sealed that day of the plane crash. Andrew Diamond writes a very good story. He pulls the reader in and grasps hold of our attention until the very last page. It was a really good read, one I'd highly recommend.

Honestly, all I can say is this book is a 5+ stars and absolutely the best book I have EVER read. Andrew Diamond has found his niche in life and this is his true calling. As we read Gate 76 we learn about Freddy Ferguson. A private Investigator who while boarding a plane noticed a very pretty blonde who was very nervous and pacing back and forth while in line to board a plane. She entered the plane and seconds latter she disembarked it and entered another plane. What was it about this woman who had fascinated Freddy. Soon after boarding his plane and landing at his destination, he learned that the initial plane the blonde had boarded, blew up killing all. Freddy was able to find out her name and that she was presumed dead on the flight. However, she was alive and well and keeping a secret. This book is well written with plenty of well organized characters. Told in a first person point of view, I was fully engulfed in this book and at the end before I really realized it. This author is a great story teller who has an imagination that allows the reader to feel as though they are apart of the story.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received an online copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was hooked on this book after the first few pages, which were intriguing to say the least. I kept on reading because the author hooked me on the story right away, and I had to know how it would all work out. I absolutely loved the narration by Freddy about his life. He would make a statement about something in his past and then a few chapters later, he would explain what had happened to him. I could not believe all the layers and layers of the truth and how those crimes were committed. It was very original and an excellent read and all the twists kept me reading for hours just to find out how it ends

If you are looking for a page turner - "Gate 76" might be exactly what you're looking for! It's the type of book that you find yourself reading too quickly at times just to get answers! What makes "Gate 76" stick out from other thrillers is that it really is centered around an emotional journey - there's a lot of heart in this book!

A crime has the entire US following along, Freddy Ferguson knows there is one mysterious woman who has now disappeared that appears to be the only witness. Fast moving, and engaging.

This book: Started strong. Started waning. Went from interesting to way too much cursing and then came the prostitution. By the time I got to that, I just walked off for a while. I did manage to force myself to finish, but the ending was a complete letdown. It's like two or three books got mushed into one story.

My copy came from Net Galley. My thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is left of my own free volition.

I wanted this book to be better than it was, but I am still glad I read it. It was a fun mystery with a strong start. It slows down quite a bit about halfway through, and the number of characters kind of muddles the story. But I enjoyed it.

This was an interesting story. Freddy Ferguson sees a woman go to board one flight and then she leaves there and changes her appearance to board another flight. The first flight crashes. Freddy's firm is looking into the background of all on the flight. He can not get over what he saw at the airport;. What has happened to her and was she running from someone? This story has some interesting twists to it.

A mystery in the style of the classic hard-boiled detective story. Freddy is the tough detective who becomes nearly obsessed with a woman he sees pretend to get on a plane, then change her appearance and board another plane. Shortly afterwards, the first plane explodes over the ocean. Readers will quickly become just as determined as Freddy to find out what she was running from and if she had anything to do with the explosion. A gritty, satisfying page-turner.

Freddy Ferguson is a private investigator. While walking through the San Francisco airport, a blonde woman catches his attention as she is being escorted on to a flight to Hawaii. She doesn't look very pleased with her escort, maybe this is why she catches Freddy's attention. There are other people in the airport as well that seem to be watching her and her escort to see if they are doing what they should. After she boards the plane and her "handlers" clear the area, she gets off the Hawaii flight and gets on another bound for Chicago. Shortly after take off, the Hawaii flight explodes in the air. Did this woman know the plane was going to blow up? Where did she go and do the people who were looking after her know? Now working with the airline to try and find who did this, Freddy finds corruption in the highest of places. Will he be able to find out what is going on and find the girl?

Thank you to NetGalley and Stolen Time Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

At first this book started out slow for me. I didn't like taking so much time flashing back to Freddy's life. I'm not sure how it tied in with his current situation. Over all the book was pretty good. I felt a very personal connection to the book with all the places mentioned in it in the Washington, D.C. area where I currently live and in Texas where I spent my college years driving all around the state.

Overall, the book was pretty good, redeeming itself towards the end, keeping me drawn in to find out what was going to happen in the end.

Gate 76 is an intense character study contained in an action packed mystery. Right from the very first page--this one sucked me in and I couldn't put it down. Told in first person narration by Freddy, a detective and former boxer who's learned some very hard lessons in life, Gate 76 is about an explosion on a plane that killed 188 people. But it's so much more than that...It's a story of secrets and scars and damaged people and drugs and politics...filled with fascinating characters. You learn about Freddy through small flashbacks to his past, and through interactions with his ex-wife, but you learn even more about him in seeing how he works, how he focuses on a certain aspect of the case and he relates to people in various situations as he works the case. I found Freddy a very interesting and challenging character. This is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. Gate 76 is well written, creative, and compelling. I highly recommend it.

#Gate 76 # NetGalley#

Well I absolutely loved this book, and I absolutely hated it! There were many things to like while the protagonist was solving the big crime with all it many moving parts. Typical of of all mysteries, you want to see the storyline tied up at the end to your (reader) satisfaction. This was mostly true at the end of the book, but I can’t say I was totally satisfied at the end. Seems it needed to answer a few more questions. There was much I had a hard time embracing. All of the police corruption and the corruption of the federal and state made me very uneasy. With all that goes on in our daily life’s, I did not enjoy reading about the unpleasantness of it. I guess with the story the author laid out, he felt it was necessary. I feel there are some readers out there, like myself, who will not enjoy this aspect of the book, and this is a heads up to those who don’t enjoy it. I’m sure there are many who don’t mind reading about all the corruption, but speaking for myself, I was very uneasy with this dispicton. I choose to live in a happy world environment, realistic or not.
I was given an advance free copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

2/3 good

Wow does this book waste a lot of space with backstory and Christian stuff. I skipped page after page after page. I probably skipped a third of the book because I simply will not read irrelevant backstory or Christian mutterings. What I did read was pretty good except for a single decision on the part of Freddy Ferguson who left fugitive Anna in unnecessary danger. The decision was necessary to set up the denouement so Mr. Diamond left logic out of it.

Great characters and a tale of a massive cover-up

“Suffering is a kind of understanding life inflicts on you against your will, and you don’t come out of it the same person."

I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this book. I thought it was probably an airline disaster story. Well, it is, but that's a very small part of the overall thriller.

Freddy Ferguson is an ex-boxer who now works as a private investigator. He happens to be at San Francisco International airport when he notices a woman sneak off one plane and board another. He doesn't think too much of it until he hears that the first plane she was on crashed soon after takeoff.

I liked the character of Freddy a lot and his search for answers takes him on a twisted journey, wondering along the way just who he can trust.

The action ramps up quickly and stays intense throughout the book.

I'm off to read another book by this author next IMPALA because I like his writing style.

I received this book from Stolen Time Press through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

PI Freddy Ferguson believes he saw the only living witness to a tragic plane crash. Who is she? Why is she running? The more he finds out about her, the deeper the scandal goes.

This book is a good read, intriguing from the very beginning and pretty action packed throughout.
