I found it difficult to get into the story. I never warmed to Sadie. She is supposed to be some PR whizz at age 25. I actually immediately disliked her and that makes it really hard to enjoy a book, even when the writing is good.

I received an ARC via Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This book was a quick and easy second chance romance read but very good. I loved the main characters but it also had a wide variety of side characters that I would be interested in reading about. Carson Savage was the typical quarterback jock but he wasn't the over the top arrogant jerk, he was actually very sweet and caring but still very masculine. Sadie Reynolds was the typical heartbroken heroine that just couldn't seem to move past her first true love. She tried to move on but she kept comparing everyone to Carson, she was also still jaded because of the small town they came from. Being from a small town from the south I greatly appreciated that the author hit the nail on the head and some may think Sadie is being too dramatic or crazy but small town life is very tiring and exhausting on everyone because you are always under a microscope no matter who you are or what you do, but if you come from a well respected family or have serious potential in life like Carson its intensified even more so. Also I loved that the author didn't try to force accents or southern sayings, I've read books that where based in the south and some I couldn't finish because it was like the author just had to put so many yalls and sweeties to prove the characters where southern. Overall this was a great read like I said it was quick but it kept my interest the whole time.

Awesome second chance sports romance. A win-win for me since I love both tropes. I really enjoyed this book and loved Carson & Sadie so much and their story. They have serious case of the adorables which is so sweet! I will definitely check out more from this author.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The last time I was this upset with a female character in a book it was Anastasia from 50 shades of Gray. I began reading this book and I enjoyed it until about halfway through. The story began to sound like a middle school romance and Sadie was a total selfish brat. I understood the high school love but when it has been 7 years and you talking about how great a teenager was in bed, I have a problem. I have a never known a teenage boy to be a great lover. But according a Sadie Carson was always and attentive lover?? In what world??
Carson was such a horn dog and the obsession between the 2 of them was so unrealistic. Sadie could cough and he was turned on.
The details were not clear in the book either. I think it took about halfway through the book to find out Sadie was a redhead, unless I missed something.
Sadie's job was to change the team's image and she ends up snatching all the privacy that Carson wants for her own gain, calling it work. She was terrible, whiny and so unprofessional. I understand this is a book but part of reading is seeing yourself in the characters and Sadie was a character I would have cussed out several times over. Once I got near the end of the book I was just flipping pages past Sadie's running, whining and complaining.

This was a sweet second chance book and I really liked it. This is a new author for me but I will definitely be reading her again.. We meet Sadie a successful PR rep, she has a problem of letting go of trusting others. Her best friends are trying to help her with this, but they haven't been really successful. Sadie is contacted to work for her ex-boyfriends team to clean up the teams image, and even though she really does not want to return to her hometown she does. Here comes Carson, who after seven years has never forgotten Sadie and knew he should have never let go. When Carson sees Sadie she is more beautiful than ever and he is going to do everything in his power to bring her back home and give them another chance..It was heartwarming and I liked how even though he never forgot her or her him I appreciated that it wasn't those, I love but she never slept with anyone else and he admitted he wasn't a saint...Hope we get a Ty book and/or Barbi. Enjoy!

This was a super fun football romance. Sadie is charged with saving the Alabama Warriors careers and making them respectable. That is how she ends up working with her old boyfriend Carson. Carson meanwhile has loved Sadie forever and wants her back. And this is the story of their romance.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved every single second of this story and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Second chances. 3.5 ⭐⭐⭐
This is the first book that I've read from this Author.
Carson and Sadie were high school sweethearts.
Until Sadie broke up with him at graduation.
She was subjected to hate mail, text messages, cyberbullied on social media. For breaking up with the schools football star who was destined to go pro. So she left, leaving everyone behind. Apart from keeping intouch with her two besties and making a name for herself as a social media profile fixer.
Carson made it to the NFL. Going through women trying to forget Sadie.
7 years later Sadie is called in to save what's a PRs nightmare to save Carson's team.
They both obviously still have feelings for each other.
Can Sadie turn the teams reputation over?
Can Carson and Sadie work together?

I had a hard time accepting the premise of this story. Sadie broke up with Carson at the end of her senior year of high school. This has ruined her for all men and destroyed her dating life for seven years. I can't really believe that a high school relationship could result in a love affair like this one, but maybe I am too skeptical.

She has gone on to become one of the elite in her branding firm. This firm is hired to clean up the imaging for the Warriors, a football time full of perceived bad boys, and Carson just so happens to be the captain of the team.

They rapidly fall back into a relationship and there is an HEA ending that will thrill readers. Carson and Sadie are kinda cute together, which makes this an enjoyable afternoon of reading.

3 1/2 Star Review.....

Ball Buster is the first book in the brand new The Playbook series by Kara Sheridan. This was my first read by this author and as a lover of sport romance; I was intrigued by the blurb.

The plot concept was indicative of most series in this genre, but with engaging characters and depth of emotion, it is definitely appealing on many levels. Carson and Sadie have explosive chemistry and genuinely care about each other and rekindling the connection that they had in the past.

I look forward to the next instalment in this fascinating series.

I was really hoping this would be amazing, because normally I really enjoy the sports romance novels, but this was a no for me.
Carson ignores absolutely everything Sadie says. Stop calling me that becomes "OMG I LOVE IT WHEN YOU CALL ME THAT" and he even flat out says that he'll never stop because he likes it. The whole novel is one big "she says no to play hard to get" trope.

Carson is a caveman and likes to make sure his woman gets on the same page as him, "a few minutes later, Carson rested his head against her chest, still breathing hard. “You’re mine again, Sadie.” Carson's threats aren't really all the threatening, “keep doing that and the only thing you’re going to be picking is grass off your backside after I get done effing you in that field over there.” I liked this book, Carson had so much heart and thr man only had eyes for his woman.

3.5 - 4 Stars

This book is about a NFL player who is reunited with his high school sweetheart. It is sweet, sexy and emotional with great dynamics between the characters.
Pretty good. At first I wasn't really into it but I'm glad I finished it.
Can't wait to read more from this author!

An OK story about a football quarterback and his old high school girlfriend. Carson and Sadie broke up in high school, but both still carry a torch for each other, so sparks are there from the start. A fair story, although could have been stronger in the reasons why (break up, harassment, etc.). If the reasons were so strong it seemed like they jumped into bed fairly quickly. Just saying. Did enjoy the story for the most part though, and obviously someone is a Carson Wentz fan, which is fun to see. Would recommend this story and author.

One of the most emotionally satisfying stories I have ever read. Not only do the sparks between Carson and Sadie fly off the pages, the genuine depth of love that Carson and Sadie had for each other that was never lost was inspiring. As second chance stories go, this one's uniqueness is unparalleled in creating an overall satisfaction as the story's theme unfolds.

The characters brought a depth of believability and a comfortable colorful nature, creating another facet to the story which made is easy to read it in one sitting...and with an ending that will honestly leave you with a sigh and a smile.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This is the first book in the Playbook series and is a standalone. It is a second chance romance about an NFL player who is reunited with his high school sweetheart. It is sweet, sexy and emotional with great dynamics between the characters. The two main characters care about each other but people and circumstances keep them apart.

Carson Savage is the quarterback and captain of the Alabama Warriors and I liked everything about him. He is a good guy with loads of southern charm. He is a caring, sweet, compassionate guy and has never forgotten Sadie, his high school girlfriend. Carson loves Sadie and wants her back and is willing to do whatever it takes to convince her they should be together.

Sadie Reynolds has never gotten over her first love, Carson Savage. She is smart, controlling and works helping people improve their public image. Her boss insists she work with the Warriors and that means working with Carson. Seven years ago, Sadie ran away from Carson and her hometown because she wanted a career. She has mixed feelings about seeing him again

When Carson and Sadie are together again they realize they still have deep feelings for each other. Sadie cares about Carson but is confused and doesn’t want to lose herself in his success. Carson works hard to show Sadie how much he cares for her. He doesn't want to lose her again. I enjoyed this enchanting story.

A great story about 2 people meant to be together despite spending years apart. They have both grown and matured and kept loving each other despite their separation. Very well written, the author keeps your interest from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love second chance romances and this one doesn’t disappoint. Set against a professional sports backdrop, I really enjoseeing the woman in the role of an educated professional and a football player that isn’t portrayed as a “dumb jock”. The characters had depth and substance and I hope this is the beginning of a series!
