A great upbeat book that follows Emily from The Devil Wears Prada now that she’s left Runway. It's a fun but surprisingly deep chick-lit with fully developed characters and relatable themes. This is definitely a book to read this summer.

Lauren weisberger's books are so much fun. It was such a pleasure to find Emily from "the devil wears prada" and I tought the book was funny, toughful and I enjoyed it a lot. It's the perfect beach read for this summer, the perfect book to make you feel good... i give it 4 stars . I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Titillating, scintillating, outrageous, somewhat entertaining but this book will not make you smarter or feel proud to be a women. I was drawn to this book because of the author's previous work Devil Who Wears Prada, an upbeat, and charming movie (I did not read the book). In that regard this book was a disappointment. Predictable characters and cliché behaviour. If you are over 20 and have lived a real life, you might like to skip this one.

Well this novel was pure escapism and a guilty pleasure. Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for my ARC. Emily is back but no longer working at Runway magazine or for Miranda Priestly. Instead we find her living and working in L.A. She is now married and an PR guru to the rich and fabulous. Cleaning up their messes when their celebrity shenanigans take a dive with public opinion by giving them image make overs. Also in this cast of charqcters we meet Miriam, friend to Emily from their days together in New York City. Formerly a success in her own right slaving away at a prestigious law firm, Miriam can now be found in prosperous Greenwich Connecticut.; a married mom of three children, overweight not as happy trying to fit in with the Mommy Club. And lastly, Karolina, Miriam’s friend and former supermodel now married to an up and coming Senator who is touted as being the one to watch in the next Presidential election. The story centers on Karolina. Karolina is randomly stopped for a drinking and driving check outside her well heeled neighborhood with her beloved son in law and friends in the back seat of the car. Only, Karolina is not under the influence, not even close, and why are there empty champagne bottles in the back? Failing her road side sobriety test and without being issued a breathalyzer or blood test, Karolina is taken into custody for drunk driving. While th neighbors watch, her husband distances himself and Karolina becomes the town pariah. But it gets worse! Senator husband soon makes it clear he wants a divorce and is soon spotted with another woman who could definitely get him to the White House faster. Call in the troops! Karolina needs help from someone! Enter Miriam with her background in law and Emily, whose expertise at reinventing the high profiled peeps and we’ve got the making of a story. Like I said, a guilty escape, like eating ice cream for dinner. The novel is witty and pokes fun at the Connecticut society for their push presents, sip and sees, lavish parties and outrageously silly lifestyles these people apparently lead. It will probably sell quite well if you can get past all the fluff and nonesense. If you know what you’re about to read and take it as such you’ll probably enjoy. And who knows, if you stick with it, you may be rewarded with the return of a well remembered tyrant we all love to hate.

3.5 stars

I’ll admit, I haven’t picked up a chick-lit in awhile. I’ve been engrossed with some other genres lately that I forgot how much pure joy can be in a packed into a single book about 3 women’s lives.

This is light hearted chick lit at it’s finest and [author:Lauren Weisberger|3490] has nailed it - witty banter, one liners, relatability and soo much fun! Emily is back (Yes, that Emily from [book:The Devil Wears Prada|5139] and it’s a few years down the road. After leaving Miranda Priestly and Runway, she has (tried) to reinvent herself as a publicity manager for celebrities. Unfortunately, her newly adopted career choice has not be as easy as she hoped. When things seem to be going a bit sideways for Emily, she ends up turning to an old friend, Miriam, and through her meets Karolina who just so happens to need a little help of her own.

The plot moves along quickly and brings you into each of the women’s lives in their own uniquely comical way. Each chapter alternates between the three of them and I found myself turning the pages so quickly to find out what happened to each of them next. All three main characters were well developed and different from the others, something that isn't always done well in chick lit. This book also had more depth than some others in this genre I have read, introducing some more ‘real’ problems for the characters.

Oh - and I’m sure you can guess who makes a surprise appearance?

This is a great Spring/Summer beach read and definitely does not disappoint!

Thank you Net Galley and Simon and Schuster Canada for providing me with this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

In this sequel (of sorts) to Weisbergers novel "The Devil Wears Prada", Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt in the film version) is now a California based image consultant to the stars with a great house and a hot husband. After some career setbacks, she ends up in Greenwich Connecticut assisting a former supermodel after she is carelessly dumped by her senator husband and subsequently being thrust into the public eye when a scandal threatens her reputation. I really enjoyed this book about female friendship with a side of revenge. Certainly a book about how the "other half" live! ;)

Loved this book just as much as I loved The Devil Wear Prada. It read well, very entertaining and has a good continuation of the original story. My only complain is that it's a little predictable, but that's it. I would recommend this book to friends.

Another great book by author Lauren Weisberger. Emily is back with her quick wit and brutal honesty that only a true fan can adore. New characters are introduced that only spice up the story even more. And I found myself both angry and in awe over Karolina's journey. Any good book will make you feel things. And I found that the story made you do just that. Was a great beach read and would definitely recommend it to others.

Thank you to Net Galley for an advance copy of When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger in exchange for an honest review. I was really excited to see this avaible for a pre publication read, but found myself going from "where is this story going?.... to really enjoying it". I was hoping for more interaction with Miranda and was so disappointed with the few line interaction with Andy.
Most definitely a light beach read. Much preferred The Devil Wears Prada!

Definitely another Lauren Weisberger hit. Well written, fast paced story of re-empowering formerly powerful women who are now mothers.
Emily Charlton of Devil Wears Prada fame is back, but now she's her own boss.
Emily's LA based image consulting business works for Miles' Hong Kong based job but when a NY based star calls Emily is on the next plane but finding herself in Greenwich CT - aka the Burbs. Emily's bunking at Miriam Kagan's home for a few days - that quickly becomes three weeks. When their mutual friend, retired high fashion model Karolina Hartwell, needs Miriam's lawyer skills and Emily's image control skills life takes on a new pace.
The touching incidents of motherhood are sneakily buried in the fast paced humor that Lauren Weisberger does so well.
Miranda Priestly of Runway appears here and watching Emily's interactions was top notch.
A lot goes on in this burb - imagine an hooka party on a Monday night! Left me smiling and cheering for our three friends, Emily, Miriam, & Lina.

I loved this story. This isn't my world at all. I will never be part of these character's spheres but they are hilarious to read about. I laughed, I raged at the unfairness and I wanted more.

I can't wait to pick up more by this author!

This is my first Lauren Weisberger novel, and I really enjoyed it. There are 3 main female characters. Miriam, Emily, and Karolina all band together to help Karolina through a very serious personal crisis. In the process Miriam and Emily are also confronted with their own insecurities. I like all 3 of these characters. They are lively, funny, and interesting. And their dynamic really draws you in. I was hooked by their stories. This book turned into one of those where you swear you will stop reading at the end of the page, then it becomes the end of the chapter, and then you look at the clock and think, well, there is only 50 pages left, I can't stop now!

The women were relatable and they managed to take me through a whole range of emotions. This isn't a challenging read, but definitely entertaining.

I posted this same review on Goodreads.com.

Thank you to NetGalley.com for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

"When Life Gives You Lululemons" is a follow-up to "The Devil Wears Prada". This time, the protagonist is Emily who no longer works for Miranda Priestly but as a consultant who cleans up celebrity mess-ups. Her friend Miriam, a stay-at-home, ex-lawyer mom who lives in Greenwich introduces her to another friend, Karolina, a senator's wife who has been accused of DUI.

Emily can't resist taking on Karolina's case and comes into contact with the wealthy residents of Greenwich who apparently live in another reality from the rest of us.

This is a fluffy, beach read that will keep you hooked from the beginning. There are several brief references to characters from the first book and except for Miranda Priestly, they play no role in this story. A note to future readers, this book is pretty racy.

Wow, I’m so confused about my feelings for this book. On the one hand it’s really entertaining and I finished it in less than a day. But on the other hand I found it quite depressing.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Emily “I’m one stomach flu away from my goal weight” Charlton and was pleased to see her in this book. I didn’t even realize she was in the book before I started reading it as I jumped right in without reading the synopsis or seeing any promotional material.

The title is fantastic although I don’t love the cover art.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this copy.

I love the Devil wears Prada (mandatory book and movie) and was super nervous to read another story about the characters. Will they be the same? Will this book live up to the high standards I've set for it? I'm happy to report it did! It was a fun campy read. Some of the references were a little thrown in your face ( does "The job a million girls would die for" ring a bell?)

There are three main characters Emily (Miranda's first assistant is now a 36 year old celebrity crisis manager, happily married to handsome Miles). Miriam, who quit her job as a high profile attorney, moved her family from New York City to Greenwich, CT and is struggling to fit into the Greenwich lululemon clad mommy circle. Karolina is the last main character and probably the most important. Karolina brings all three girls together when she suffers a personal tragedy.

What I loved but also hated was Graham. Graham is Karolinas husband and is a monster! I love hated him. I wanted him dead but also wanted to know what he would do next. I wont say much more cause I will give away major plot points!

Overall A-. I can definitely see this being a great summer read and I liked it a lot but of course it isn't as good as the original.

Thank you so much to the publisher Simon and Schuster Canada and the author Lauren Weisberger for the ARC!

When Life Give You Lululemons is an entertaining, easy beach read featuring some familiar characters from Lauren Weisbergers' previous books (Emily from The Devil Wears Prada is a main character, plus there are a few appearances by Miranda and a small cameo by Andy). I liked that each chapter was written from the perspective of one of the three main characters. While the plot was a bit predictable and the ending was no surprise, it kept my interest and was an enjoyable read. If you're a fan of Weisbergers' previous books, you'll be sure to enjoy this one.

When Life Gives You Lululemons is a follow-up to Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada. I've been a fan of Weisberger's novels and really enjoyed this one. Emily, which we've known in TDWP, is back in new adventures.

A good easy-to-read.

Thank you Net Galley and Simon and Schuster Canada for providing me with this ARC.

I am torn on this one. It's a great read and I do mean great, addictive, fun, and a perfect holiday/beach read. I got so lost in the book that I had opened a webchat with a company to get customer service, the wait time was 14 minutes. I'll read a few pages while I'm waiting, I thought to myself. I had a sudden ut-oh moment and looked up. It's two hours later, dark outside, the webchat window was saying it had disconnected some time ago. Oops. I was amused that as I read, I could hear the voice of Emily Blunt every time Emily spoke, and the rare appearances of Miranda had my brain channeling Meryl Streep. It does add a little something if you've read The Devil Wears Prada (or have seen it) but it's definitely not a prerequisite. I finished this one very quickly but I was left with a feeling that something was lacking. I'm still not sure what that was but maybe I'll work it out before the release date which I believe is early June 2018.

This book was awesome. Devil Wears Prada good! I’ve read all of Lauren’s books and this was the one I enjoyed the most (almost as much as The Devil Wears Prada). Can’t wait for more from these characters!!

I've long been a fan of Lauren Weisberger. To date, Everyone Worth Knowing is my favourite of hers. In this book we revisit Emily from The Devil Wears Prada, but I am happy to say she is one of a trilogy of storylines. One does not need to be a devotee to the Prada series to follow along, and for that I am grateful.
The story is full of the Upper Class Mommy Club issues - think Real Housewives of Greenwich - but don't let that scare you. I enjoyed the story, the pacing, and the characters.
**SPOILER ALERT**
I didn't enjoy Emily in this book. She is now living in LA as a PR whiz - someone who can finagle the image of anyone, no matter how badly they may have screwed up. (Depending on your age, think Hugh Grant + Hooker, or Harvey Weinstein.) As she is slowly being replaced by someone younger and more 'hip', she helps her friend Katrina out of an impossible situation. The story is good, but I was disappointed with Emily's character. While she may be losing her clients to a younger rival, her handsome husband adores her. Yet within the story we see Emily measuring her worth by whether or not random men find her attractive. Some may feel this shows the vulnerable side of Emily, I see the opposite. I see her selfish and controlling side and it made me dislike her character slightly.
That being said, I really did enjoy this fun chick-lit read, and am thankful to have been given the chance to read it before publication.
