"The Caterpillar That Learned to Fly" is a wonderful story that is centered around Cutter the Caterpillar as he transitions into Flutter the Butterfly. This story is written so children will learn the life cycle of a butterfly in a fun way through the eyes of the caterpillar. I really like that so much detail was given to the process that the caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly. There are a lot of interesting facts about the life cycle of a caterpillar that are fascinating, which would make this book a wonderful addition to a lesson plan that focuses on life cycles. The illustrations are vibrant and detailed and accompany the text and illustrate the details nicely! This book would be a wonderful addition to any home or school library and would be perfect for children wanting to learn more about these magnificent creatures!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book!

Thank you to Sharon Clark and Net Galley for a free copy of this book in trade for an honest review.

I love this book! It’s got a beautiful illustration, as well as a detail story on the growing process of a caterpillar into a butterfly. The illustration is quite detail and the colors is very bright and contrast. The process of when the caterpillar is changing into a cocoon is told in a friendly yet scientific way. How the caterpillar is feeling hungry and sleepy or when he feels that his skin is too tight and he need to shed it.

The story is told in a way that children could easily understand or relate to it. As parents, we could also explain to them the way the growing process went and connect it with everyday life. This is a book I would love to tell my boy when he grows up.

Recommend for those who love to read biology in a fun way with good and detailed illustration to explain things.

This story is told from the viewpoint of a caterpillar named Cutter. The story works its way through Cutter’s life cycle. We get to read about his life as a caterpillar and the changes he went through to become a butterfly. This story would work well with the science curriculum (life cycles). It was very informative and provided lots of details on the life cycle process. There was a lot of writing on each page which may make it difficult for younger kids to stay focussed. Also, higher vocabulary was frequently used throughout the book so there may need to be lots of explanations on what words mean.

I found this book on one of my Goodreads group's pages and decided to share it with my children. In The Caterpillar That Learned to Fly children learn of the butterfly lifecycle by watching Cutter the caterpillar change into Flutter the Monarch butterfly. Both of my school age children enjoyed it and the whole family walked away learning something new. Some of the cool interesting facts that we learned included
* how many pairs of legs a caterpillar has compared to a butterfly
* butterflies' ability to taste with their feet
* Monarch butterflies migrate THOUSANDS of miles away for the winter

An informative children's book on the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. We watch the story of the caterpillar unfold until he emerges as a beautiful butterfly and makes his journey to the forests of Mexico. Filled with interesting facts about these beautiful butterflies, the story is written in simple language easy to understand for young readers.
