I first read The Cloud of Unknowing in my early twenties, and it lead to a fascination with the literature of Christian mystics. After a few years of reading through many of the Paulist Press mystics series, I lost interest and moved on. This lovely new translation gives me a chance to re-read this book in a more complicated time and a more mature mindset. There is a reason this book is a classic of Christian mysticism. It's simple, meditative and beautiful.

Thank you Dover Publications and Netgalley for a complimentary copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

I requested this book knowing that it was based somewhat on religion, however I found it much heavier than I had anticipated and not quite what I had in mind. Perhaps if I had picked it up at a different time I may have connected with it better.
