Another good story in the series and can be read as a standalone. I liked Angel and Colton individually, but I didn’t feel the chemistry or a spark between them. Her waffling and going in circles about leaving him for most of the book grew tiring.

Colton’s hot and awesome and I’d marry him in a second but he wasn’t quite the alpha I thought he’d be as an undercover DEA agent. I loved him as a teacher and working with the neighborhood boy.

Overall it was a good story but the pacing was too slow for me. I think the feeling the plot was dragging kept me from being 100% engaged with them as a couple. I’m also not sure why it’s broken up into 116 chapters.

I do highly recommend reading the first book as that was packed with action and chemistry.

This was just as amazing as the first book if not even better. If you have not tried this series you are really missing out Angel is a US Marshall and finds her self-drugged and set up for the murder of the man she was supposed to be keeping safe, all alone she heads to the one person who may be able to help her former lover and ex DEA agent Colton but will he be able to help her. This was really great I loved it

This is the second book in this series by this author. This book will hook you from the first page. This is a suspense filled read with a little romance thrown in. This is also a second chance romance read. Amazing characters you just fall in love with as you read. I can't wait to read more from this series and this author in the future.

I’m a big fan of the romantic suspense genre. I love a good action-packed story that keeps me on the edge of my seat, but also makes me swoon.

Wanted For Life started started out great - it jumped right into the action of the story, and didn’t hold things back from the hero and heroine’s past to artificially manufacture suspense. Angel is a US Marshal - part of an undercover, black-ops type organization, and her latest assignment went bad when she woke up covered in blood next to the man she was supposed to be protecting, who had been stabbed multiple times. Needing someplace to hide until she can figure out who is trying to frame her for murder, she goes to Colton Williamson's house - who happened to be her last assignment. And also the man she fell in love with. The writing style was almost sparse - nothing flowery or superfluous, just the facts. (But at the same time, the descriptions about characters and events were sufficient enough to draw me in.) And I was really digging the story. I thought I’d found a new author whose writing style and plots I would like.

There were a couple things I really did appreciate about this book. First, no repeating ad nauseum how hawt Colton is. Second, I loved how even though Angel left Colton without any explanation, he wasn’t angry with her. Hurt, yes. But he was mature enough to know she had her reasons, even if he didn’t like or agree with them.

But then we get to the middle half of the book, and things started to drag. I didn’t mind the day in, day out goings on of Angel and Colton getting reacquainted after being separated for a year, but hearing the internal monologue of hers about how she could never drag him into her danger or be able to settle down with him, and from him about how much he wants to be with her but knows she’ll disappear on him again, became tiresome. Seriously, if the man actually had been a high school math teacher, then yes, by all means be concerned about his ability to protect himself while you’re dealing with someone framing you for murder. But dude used to be an undercover DEA agent...I think he can handle himself, and maybe even help you out. And I got tired of hearing how concerned Angel was about Colton’s safety.

By the time all the action finally started back up, I was thankful to not be hearing so much about Colton’s safety. But no, we still had to hear about it. And all good feelings I had for this book deflated when the writing devolved into boring, repetitive, annoying internal monologues. I may be interested in reading a book about Angel’s team member who had to leave his wife and child behind (and then he found out his former wife - who thinks he’s dead - got remarried), but otherwise I’m not sure if I’ll read this author again. I have too many things to read to spend my time reading the same thoughts over and over and over again.

I received an arc from Netgalley. This was not a favorite of mine. I just connect with the story right from the beginning.

Ms Hanson brings a second chance romance to life with this thrilling, suspenseful tale. It will take you on a journey of discovery and a reminder that the past can't hold us back if we don't let it.

Excellent premise and follow-thru. Full of suspense. Angel is a unique and interesting character. Throw in Colton and it's a romance. Lots of twists and turns in the book.

Wanted for Life is a well written suspense. I loved the plot and enjoyed the author's writing style. Author was new to me but I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Angel, a Deputy Marshal, has been framed, accused of murder, and is now running for her freedom and her life. Trying to stay one step ahead of the real killer is hard, even with her skills and knowledge, which means she knows she can't do it alone. Instead, she turns to the man she hasn't been able to forget, a former DEA agent and her lover.

Colton, now a high school math teacher named Duncan, misses the adrenaline rush associated with his former job, but his acceptance of entering witness protection means he had to leave all of it behind...including the woman that helped start that new life and refused to join him in it. He still thinks of Angel and wonders what if, but he never expected to be reunited with her this way.

It's been a year since Angel left him, unable to give up everything and become someone new to stay with him, and she's regretted it ever since. She knows he has every right to resent her, but with her life in danger, she also knows he's the only one she can trust.

As Colton and Angel are reunited, they must work to not only keep her safe but decide whether to fight the feelings they both still have for the other or if they missed their only opportunity.

Who set up Angel and why? Is she compromising Colton's new identity by running to him for help? Could the person after Colton be the same one that framed Angel? If so, for what purpose? Can Angel let go of her emotional baggage and trust that Colton won't leave her like everyone else has? Can Colton trust that Angel won't get scared and leave him again? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people are reunited due to life-threatening circumstances and must determine if their love is worth fighting for as well.

Wanted for Life by Allison B. Hanson
Love Under Fire #2

Grabbed from the beginning by the horror that Angela sees when she wakes in the morning I could not stop reading till I finished the book. Angela and Colton are given a second chance at love when she heads to his WITSEC location to lay low for a while. Their chemistry is still present even after the months apart but whether or not they will find a way to a HEA with all they have to deal with is not easily or quickly determined.

I really enjoyed the back stories of both characters that gave insight into what made them tick. I also enjoyed reading about how they ended up in the professions they did and how they were both questioning just what they wanted to do in the future and how best to go about it.

This was intense and suspenseful with a mystery to solve, a murderer to deal with, a prototype to get back and a romance with a potential HEA to enjoy.

Deputy Marshal Angel Larson is in big trouble. Knowing she'll be accused of murder if she's found at the scene of the crime, she decides to go on the run. The only safe place she can think of is with Former DEA agent Colton Williamson, a man that entered the witness protection program in order to testify against a really evil man. Will Colton be able to convince Angel that they're meant to be together this time around or will they lose their shot at happy ever after?

What an absolutely entertaining, fast-paced, thrilling ride Ms. Hanson takes readers on this second book of her Love Under Fire series, which opened brilliantly with what's happened and the heroine doing the only thing she can. Will she be able to find a safe place where she can figure out who is setting her up? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that I absolutely loved because these two have history. Will Colton be willing to help her?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after. Will the heroine discover who is setting her up? Moreover, both the main characters are fantastic, especially since these two shared so much in the past; the hero has gone from being an DEA agent to being someone that still helps people but not as law enforcement; and the heroine is in really big trouble that she may not be able to get out of.

With the heroine, she's resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to clear her name, even though there are moments when she could find herself in trouble. I also liked how she's managed to overcome the hard times in her life to be a Deputy Marshal. Certainly, she didn't have it easy with what happened to her and her parents at the hand of someone that should have loved her. While the hero, he's been through a lot and I liked how he's handled everything, even though it wasn't easy for him to walk away from his old life. Also, he's confident; good at helping people, which is proven by what he does for one of the secondary characters; and I liked how determined he was to help the heroine, even though convincing her to accept his help isn't going to be easy.

Overall, Ms. Hanson has delivered a wild and captivating read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was heady and convincing; the romance was special and had me glad these two have a second shot at happy ever after; and the ending had me worried for the main characters because of the final battle they face against the person that set up the heroine, but had me loving that they manage to come out on top. Then again, trusting people is something the heroine needs to get used to, especially when she has a few people that care about her and want things to be made right for her. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because the hero and heroine are so happy together. I would recommend Wanted for Life by Allison B. Hanson, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the second chance romance trope or books by authors Cathy Skendrovich, Sheryl Nantus, Julie Castle and Tonya Burrows.

The second installment in Allison B. Hanson’s Love Under Fire series, WANTED FOR LIFE, is downright readable and extremely unputdownable. I loved everything about this book, from the tense, opening moment when U.S. Deputy Marshal Angel Larson woke up in a pool of blood, through the unyielding and pulse-pounding race to the finish line when Hanson delivers a satisfying resolution that made me sigh with relief and flush with a sappy heart. This is a thrilling romance.

DEA agent Colton Williamson spent two years undercover gathering evidence against mobster Viktor Kulakov for trafficking drugs and humans. After surviving six gunshots to the chest, he was presumed dead. Only, he went into WITSEC and under the protection of the U.S. Marshals Service, where he met Angel. After months together, theirs evolved into a physical relationship … but when it was time for Colton to be moved to a new identity, Angel didn’t go with him.

Now Angel is on the run after waking up to realize her most recent charge, billionaire tech mogul Heath Zeller, is lying dead beside her. Posing as his girlfriend kept her close by and into all areas of Heath’s life but couldn’t stop a killer determined to take him out and frame her. With all of her safe houses and Plan B’s compromised, her only refuge is with Colton, who is now going by Duncan Willis, a regular Joe high school math teacher in Crystal Grove, Oregon.

Angel and Colton both have robust backstories, peppered with interesting and compelling strengths and weaknesses. There’s an equality in them as government agents and private citizens learning to rely on the love they feel for each other. Whereas Angel has a traumatic past and no family, Colton has a close-knit large family he knows would always have his back. Her greatest vulnerability lies in her ability to trust that Colton will love her for the long term; his is that he loves her and has to trust she won’t disappear in the middle of the night ... again. His worry about her being there when he wakes up or comes home from work is a daily thing, and it’s exhausting. Both were “always on watch, always ready to run.” Only, once Angel found Heath’s killer and cleared her name, she could go back to her life and Colton would still be in WITSEC. Playing house seems to be the only way they could be together … or is it?

There are tons of plot twists and turns, and neither Angel nor Colton can let their guards down for a second. Hanson strings the reader along until the very end before the romance is resolved between these two, but part of the excitement is how they learn how to embrace that vulnerability and make it work for them—not against them.

Having read one other by this author thought I would try another. This is also you could say a second chance with this centering around Angel and Colton. Danger is front and center with you being put on edge right away. She has the right amount of suspense with the mystery dragging you forward. The story takes you on the journey not missing many emotions. This one is good reading if a mystery lover.

The book starts off with a bang where Angel wakes up groggy and drenched in blood. After being framed for murder she is now a fugitive on the run. But not only that she promised Heath to protect his life and now there is high tech worth billions also missing.

Her safe houses are compromised as she wasn’t that far off the grid as she thought. Her task force is on her side but they can’t cross an official line. The one place where she can go and she knows she isn’t really welcome but where else can she go but Crystal Grove?

Former DEA agent Colton Williamson now math teacher Duncan Willis is bored out of his mind. He is in WITSEC cause of attempted murder and the culprit can with his help be put behind bars. So although he isn’t that keen on seeing Angel again it does give him some excitement.

They have to find the murderer and the high tech that has gone missing. They need clues and are following the bread crumbs but not everything is at it seems. There was never a boring moment with this book. It is face-paced and action-packed as well as it being a fast read. I enjoyed it very much. The author has solid writing and really knows what she is going on about.

Now, theoretically this book is right up my alley yet reality is a whole different level. I’m putting this all one me. I love the whole US Marshal gig and the witness protection aspect and yet I was under the impression that they weren’t an item and a thing before they meet again. Second chance romances aren’t really my thing especially when they go on and on about how it is such a bad idea and that she couldn’t have found someone else to help her. Yeah if you’d done that then we wouldn’t have a book. So shut up and deal with the consequences. I couldn’t quite connect to the characters but then again that is also me.

Wanted for Life is a romantic suspense novel about Angel and Colton. He is in witness protection after his DEA cover was blown and she was one of the agents tasked to protect him. After they fell for each other, she left one day without a word. One year later, he is the only person she can turn to for help clearing her name of a crime she didn't commit.

There is a decent mystery that unfolds throughout the book. Angel is smart and very capable so it is interesting to see her work on finding the person who framed her.

I do feel like the book was a little long, though, as some plot points were empasized a few times. However, I still enjoyed the story.

I think I read that this is not the first book in the series, but for me Wanted For Life is the first book I have read written by Allison B. Hanson. I found it a very rousing read from the very beginning when Deputy Marshal Angel Larson wakes up after being drugged. I never lost interest anywhere during the book. Also I loved the epilogue which cements the HEA for this couple. The characters were appealing, and the villain is a surprise which I liked. Also there is a balance between the romance and suspense with the bigger idea of not being afraid to live and love being well done.

Now I have found a new romantic suspense author to go on my TBR list. The premise of a former DEA agent having to now become a high school math teacher grabbed my attention. Much more so then in the description of a deputy marshal on the run. I understood his feelings concerning this seemingly downward slide but applaud how the author changed those feelings around for former agent Colton Williamson. The hunt for the killer, framing of Angel Larson, the second chance romance, and even the dog kept me turning the pages wanting to read more. I can recommend this book to all suspense romance readers.

*4.5 Stars*

The perfect mix of romance and suspense that I’ve been craving lately!

This was my first read by Allison B. Hanson and I can guarantee that it won’t be my last. I have been itching for a really good romantic suspense and this hit the nail on the head! This is the second book in a series of stand-alones and I didn’t feel as if I missed a single thing.

Deputy Marshall Angel Larson wakes up covered in blood with a dead man in bed next to her. She has been set up and the only way to clear her name is to run and find out herself who set her up. With nowhere else to go, she ends up on former DEA agent Colton Williamson’s doorstep. She had been in charge of protecting him a year before and left him during the night after not being able to join him in his new life in the witness protection program.

Angel and Colton’s story is told in fast-paced, short chapters. I couldn’t put this story down. I kept saying “just one more chapter” and I ended up reading the whole book in just two sittings. That’s the danger of short chapters for me. I absolutely love them but “one more chapter” turns into the majority of the book.

Pudge, Colton’s German Shepherd, was one of my favorite parts of this story. He was truly his own character in this story and this book wouldn’t have been the same without him.

I kept guessing and trying to figure out who had set up Angel and why. As soon as I thought I knew, I was proven wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by the big twist and never saw it coming!

My one issue with this book was that I was a bit annoyed with Angel in the middle of this story. She constantly doubted herself and was a little overboard in her worrying about putting Colton in danger when he clearly didn’t care. He just wanted to help her and keep her safe. A little bit of worry is normal but I wish it hadn’t been so often.

If you are looking for a great romantic suspense book, this one is for you!

I have been anxiously awaiting the follow-up to the first novel in this series (see my review for 'Witness in the Dark') because the first book was SO good!  I will say that I didn't get as attached to the characters in this story (except for Pudge!) but I really enjoyed the story.

U.S. Deputy Marshal Angel Larson has been posing as the girlfriend of a high visibility tech magnate when she awakes one morning to find herself covered in blood and her protectee deadm, and a valuable piece of technology missing.  Realizing she has been framed, she knows she has to run before she's arrested for his murder, unfortunately her first-choice of hideout has been compromised.  Her only choice is a former DEA agent Colton Williamson whom she had been protecting...and fallen in love with before leaving him when he asked her to join him in hiding.

Colton was forced to join WITSEC when a Russian mobster he had been testifying against escaped and went to ground.  Leaving his life as a DEA agent and his family behind has taken a toll, and left him restless. The chance to help Angel will give him excitement and maybe even a chance to find out why she walked out on him.  Toss in his unruly dog Pudge that remembers and loves Angel as well, and he can't turn her away.

The resulting story line is a wild ride of danger with some humor thrown in, mainly from Pudge and a high school student that Colton is mentoring.  There is a LOT of really well written suspense, and the bad guy is someone I didn't expect which is always a high point for me!  I think lovers of romantic suspense will definitely enjoy this book, and while it can be read as a stand-alone, this is one I'd recommend reading the series in order.  (If only because I loved the first book so much!

Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Amara for the chance to read this early, and keep me in mind for the next book in the series, hint hint!

Accused of a murder she didn't commit has US Marshal Angel Larson turning to the only person she knows she can trust for help. It may not be fair to Colton Williamson who has had to give up so much but she's desperate and knows that Colton will be there for her.

I really liked these two characters and the story is fun and fast paced. I enjoyed the backstory of these characters and seeing them work through the past while dealing with their current issues. This is definitely a book I would recommend.

Wanted For Life by Alison B. Hanson is the second book in the Love Under Fire series. It is a lovely follow up to the first book with a gripping storyline and plenty of heart.

Wanted for Life follows Deputy Marshall Angel Larson who was introduced in the first book Witness in the Dark. Angel is a great character, strong and tough as nails, but soft where needed, and to be honest, a bit of an emotional mess. This quirk makes for an interesting character to follow through her journey.

Allison B. Hanson is a great writer she has the ability to craft characters that are so very human, faults and all. It is because of this imperfection that it is so easy to be absorbed into their world and genuinely care about what happens to them. She also knows how to write suspense, and there were a few moments that made you wonder ‘how will they get out of this?’

I’d highly recommend Wanted for Life to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. Although it is not necessary to read the first book in the series, Witness in the Dark, to enjoy the story many of the characters do reoccur in this novel, and it just adds another level to be able to place them and no a little of the backstory behind their interactions with the characters.
