This is tough to rate. On the one hand, I absolutely loved the beginning, but then the second half happened and kind of ruined everything for me.

At first, it seemed like this would be 100% my kind of book: a second chance love story between two people who fell in love when they were 18, have been separated for 10 years, and finally find a way to forgive and move on.
I thought Hawk was a sweetheart for the first half. Yes, he slept with Faith when they were young and left her when he discovered that his father left him astronomical debts and he would have to marry a rich heiress to even remotely become solvent again- add to that the fact that Faith is decidedly lower class AND her father is a mere merchant and his mother and guardian continue to berate him for the scandalous connection... I can see why a young, impressionable man overwhelmed by duties he is determined to take seriously would think leaving the love of his life was the way to go. Yes, the way he went about it was not ideal, but he was eighteen. Ten years later, he has grown into a responsible -if still impoverished- Marquess who is still trying hard to restore his estate. He has never forgotten the only woman he loved, and when he realizes that his bastard half-brother he recently met has married Faith's best friend he tries his best to apologize and make up for lost time. But Faith is determined to keep the new-found independence her father's financial success has allowed her, and doesn't trust Hawk isn't just after her dowry...

The first half was lovely and slow-burn, the feelings were killing me, but then, unfortunately, the second half was much too dramatic for my tastes. There's a big bad secret Faith is hiding, and I thought Hawk's reaction when he finds out was just despicable. Honestly... It sort of went downhill from there for me. I thought both held on to their anger much too long, and then just forgave each other out of nowhere.

All in all, I enjoyed it up until the middle, and then sort of only skimmed. But I have little tolerance for fabricated drama, so. It might just be me. Who knows. But I did enjoy the beginning immensely, that was a solid 5 star read. Up until the middle...

Interesting historical romance. Hawk and Faith have a history and meet again ten years later. Their first parting wasn't a happy one and there were regretful mistakes made on both sides. Now there may be another chance...
Good read. Wasn't happy how Hawk walked away, even at his young age; or how Faith solved her problem, though, again due to age. Love St. Giles, girls and school and how the story ends. Not happy with Hawk's mom especially how she relates to him; in love with Dahlia, her siblings and Chris! Waiting for Bryonny and Heath's stories.
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.

My heart goes out to Hawke for the way in which Dahlia and Faith and not to be forgotten Faith’s parents were treating him, sorry to say it was his just reward for the way in which he treated Faith ten years ago. It’s not a nice thing to declare your love for a young lady and after she showed you in no uncertain terms how much she adores you, you dropped her like a Sunday bundle wood, no sir, he got his just reward I believed. True love never dies and now Hawke wants more than just looking, he is anxious to wipe the slate clean and start over but wait a minute, he found out Faith’s secret and what a secret one he was willing to fight her for. Faith didn’t give a darn on the outside but she was afraid and refuse to show it, she refuses to back down, and through all his self-righteous anger it hit Him he wanted more than just the child he wanted the mother also and now the battle has begun cause he had not a dime to stand on, what a fight. A wonderful heartfelt and enticing read that captivated you in its loving embrace, the storyline is an excellent one and the characters were great they brought the whole book alive, totally captivating, enticing, entertaining and exciting, a fun read.

Four and 1/2 stars.....Lord of Temptation (Rogues to Riches, #4)by Erica Ridley .. I was luck to be able to read this book on #NetGalley and it was enjoyable. Hawk (Lord Hawkridge) has to get over a father whose mistress has given him another son on the wrong side of the blanket ..and also has to get over his father and then uncle loosing all the family wealth. Faith is his first love and he plans to wed her when of age...but is told he can't... They never forget their love and ten years later they cross paths...and I can't forget Christina.... There are a lot of feels and bumps in the road on their way to a HEA. I plan to read the first three books and look forward to the next one.

It's been a while since i have read an historical romance book and so pleased to have had the chance to read 'Lord of Temptation' by Erica Ridley. Loved the story and one that I couldn't put down until i had finished. It left me dreaming! I am not going to write what the story is about for fear of spoiling for others, but i do highly recommend.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review.

Erica Ridley has written a masterpiece in Lord of Temptation. The story is based on prejudices against those people deemed as lower class by the aristocracy in England during the Regency period. This story has a depth rarely scene in today's writings. The characters are well-defined and fleshed out so well that you feel as those you have known them for years. They are also flawed. The decisions of their youth has far reaching repercussions and consequences a decade later. The plight of an indebted titled gentleman and the responsibilities to entailed properties are at the heart of this novel. Both the H and h are challenged by the circumstances of their birth but still find the HEA ending. Erica Ridley has excelled as an author and has written a gripping book that offers romance, drama and wonderful characters. Lord of Temptation is a 5 star read.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

I’ve been waiting to read Hawkridge’s book and was not disappointed. I loved him as a character. He’d been in a difficult situation financially in the past and although he’d made some progress was still struggling. I liked Faith too although I do feel a bit conflicted over her secret and the decisions she made even if her reasoning made sense when looking at it from her perspective. Hawk had made some disappointing decisions as well. They were both remorseful over their past choices. They both had emotional obstacles to work through before they could be together but they do get their long awaited HEA.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed this series so far and have found the characters interesting.

As I started the book, I wasn’t really happy with either the h or the H,, she had been deceptive, he had been dishonorable, and I wasn’t sure they could redeem themselves. Fortunately they did. The couple had a history, when both were quite young, and parted angry. Ten years later, she’s still angry and he’s still trying to please everyone but himself. Quite honestly, her parents are the true heroes of the story, being good, kind and caring. Fortunately, the couple did have a HEA. This is part of a series, but stands well alone. I received a free arc in exchange for an honest review..

Let me begin this review the same way I have began many others. Although this is book number 4 in an established series, you do not have to have read the other novels in order to enjoy this one. Yes, characters from the prior novels do make an appearance in this novel, however there is enough background information given that even if I had not read the other novels I would have had no trouble understanding this one.

I enjoyed this second chance romance, even if I did on more than one occasion wish I could physically throttle Hawk and Faith. They each had their own reasoning for their behaviors (both past and present), but I felt like Hawk especially was quick to anger and hurl unfair accusations even though a blind man could have seen that Faith essentially did the only thing she could have at that point. I wish we would have seen more of Faith winning over Hawk's mother as well as she (the dowager) seemed to go from one extreme to the other and while it was explained what had happened, I would have liked to actually "see" the interaction between the two women. There are a few other things I would have liked to experience with these characters as well, but on the whole I think this is a great addition to the series and will appeal to those who enjoy historical romances. I will definitely read more from this author!

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Lord of Temptation by Erica Ridley is book Four in the Rogues to Riches series. This is the story of Faith Digby and Zachary Nash.
Faith and Zach were in love and shared a special night. But then in the light of day along with Zack knowing that he can't afford a wife after inheriting a dirt-pore title of Marquess of Hawkridge. Faith was broken hearted when Zack sent that letter breaking things off with her. Now 10 years later Faith is a heiress and Zach is still fighting to keep his pore title going. But when they happen to meet again Faith has to keep her secret of what the results were of that one night and Zack tries to make her realize that he loves her.
This was a great second chance at love book.

Miss Faith Digby and Lord Zachary Nash were young and mad for each other. He promised to ask her father for her hand in marriage, they anticipated their wedding vows, but marry they did not. He is the heir to a noble marquessate, she is a commoner, whose father is in textile trade. The social divide prohibits their union.

Zachary Nash, the Marquess of Hawkridge inherited the title from his father, the title came with insurmountable debt.

Ten years on and Hawk is still managing his best to settle the notes his profligate father has accrued. Faith is now an heiress to her father's textile business fortune. Their chance meeting crackled with palpable tension and undeniable attraction for each other.

I was on tenterhooks as to how Faith and Hawk would manage to move forward from that moment on. Hawk was wracked in remorse for what he did to Faith; he's utterly exhausted from a decade of putting the marquessate coffers into rights, not to mention his ailing mother; and his broken heart has been unremittingly pining for Faith. Faith is equally tormented by guilt for concealing a growing secret from Hawk. Her heart never ceased to yearn for Hawk despite her anger of being abandoned.

Erica Ridley couldn't have written this better. I truly appreciate how she penned range of strong emotions into the plot, considering this plot has been re-used over and over again. The rigid dichotomy of social classes still befuddle the modern minds, Ms Ridley made this Regency tale truly wonderful and interesting.

I voluntarily read an eGalley copy. This is my honest and impartial review.

Thanks to NetGalley and Web Motion for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book in this series that I have read. Erica Ridley has a done a superb job with this story. I certainly had the range of emotions with this book.

This story has abandonment, premarital sex, learning from other people what a family should be, second chance at love and family. So much more to this story. If you love Erica Ridley books, you need to get this one. If you have never read her books, take a chance on this one. It is worth it and I highly recommend it.

Thanks Netgalley for a enchanting love story to read and review.

I like this way better than Charmed. Loads better....bodice ripper anyone? Historical love romance where you can marry for anything but love. Well besides the fact that this story was easy to see how it would turn out, it was a very good story. A decade had went by since Hawk had seen Faith, after he took her virginity and left her without the offer of marriage. This book mad me feel more for Hawk than Faith. He wanted to marry for love but finding out your penniless and deeply in debt had to be a horrible thing. Of course her situation was just as dire but she still had loving parents. I was truly engrossed, four stars of entertainment. Their lives came full circle, I wish everyone got this ending.

What does one do when you are 18 years old and you find that you have been left with your father’s mess to clean up? Hawk did what most young men of that age do - he listened to the people he thought knew better than he did. Only to find that he should have listened to his heart after all, especially in the wake of the hurt he left behind. Hark’s decision leaves Faith with her own set of problems, however she is fortunate in having loving, supportive parents. Ten years later when they meet again, both Hawk and Faith have more hurdles to overcome that most people do in a lifetime. If I think back to when I was 18, and having watched my children growing up and the choices they made at 18, one can only ache for Hawk. Both Hawk and Faith have immense courage and it takes all the lessons they have learned in their maturing process to overcome their issues. I loved both the main characters in this book, and it was a delight to see the growing bond that grew between Hawk and the brother we were introduced to in the previous book in this series. Although this book is part of a series and many of the characters appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone with a happy ending. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lord Hawkridge is broke and therefore he must let go of the only girl he ever loved. Now, ten years later and Faith is no longer that poor girl he said goodbye to. How can Faith be sure he doesn’t only want her for her money. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama. The story and the characters are fun and entertaining. A good read!

Lord of Temptation is Book 4 in the Rogues to Riches series. I love the last book, this one not so much. I have heard it said a good book will produce strong emotions. On that note let it be said I LOATHE Hawk. He steals Faith's innocence, unknowingly leaving her with child, hinting marriage is to come. Then he decides he's too good to marry her because he's a marquess and she is a commoner and writes her a NOTE. Add in that he needs an heiress with an impressive fortune to pull his marquessate out of debt and then he disappears for ten years. After finally making peace with his older, illegitimate brother, he stumbles back into Faith's life and attempts to start up his relationship with Faith all over again with a feeble apology. Faith owns half a boarding school, running it with Hawk's sister-in-law, Dahlia. Faith is sweet and self-sacrificing, spending all her time on the school and raising her daughter as her niece to protect her from sensor and cruelty. Her parents provide selflessly for Faith and Chris and support Faith. This book left me feeling Hawk got off way too easy. He gets all self righteous after finding out Faith hid his daughter for ten years. Personally, I thought Hawk should have been challenged to a duel and left laying for the way he treated Faith. It takes 3/4 of the book before Hawk becomes a nice enough person to even feel sympathy for. The saving grace for this book is mainly the background characters that I loved from past books. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Duty, honor, the snobbery and privilege of the peerage, all designed to keep “commoners” in their place, regardless of their financial assets. Love is of little consequence in theory, but the financially ruined, young Lord Hawkridge loved the wealthy commoner, Faith Digby, but their match was not to be.

Hawkridge would have given anything, to take Faith as his wife, thumbing his nose at the Ton, but foolish management of the family money had left him with nothing except the need to repair his family’s standings. Little did he know, Faith was crushed, heartbroken and left with more than painful memories of his “betrayal.”

Ten years later, Faith now a wealthy young woman and half owner of a boarding house for orphaned girls will face a well-worn Hawkridge who still owns nothing but his pride and his devastating charm and good looks. Can he win his way back into her arms? Too many years, too many secrets, too many tears and now he is back. Is it her dowry he craves? He betrayed her once before, she will not allow it again, especially when another innocent heart is involved.

His sense of duty and pride cost him the only woman he could love, and still he cannot offer her anything but his heart, something no man with an ounce of integrity should do. Her sense of selflessness, her dedication to her young ward and her tireless work to protect and shelter the orphans will teach the duke the true meaning of love and what real honor is and it is priceless, as priceless as he learns family can be.

LORD OF TEMPTATION by Eric Ridley is one more in swoon-worthy romance portraying a feisty woman with heart, a ruined Lord and the strength of love in all of its shapes and sizes. Ms. Ridley weaves humor, heart and entanglements of the era into a tale that will leave many of smiling and very grateful we live in the times we do! Her style of writing is free-flowing, colorfully detailed and completely mesmerizing, making the journey to the inevitable like a carriage ride back in time, a little bumpy, but beautiful!
