Sweet second chance at love historical

Erica Ridley has created another winning addition to her Rogues to Riches series.
This story is about Faith and Hawk who had met 10 years earlier and fallen in love. Hawk breaks both their hearts when he walks away from her because of family responsibilities. Fast forward 10 years and they are suddenly thrust together. The author does a wonderful job with the character development and it is obvious in spite of the time that has passed there is still a special connection between Faith and Hawk. I love that the characters in this series are not your typical ball going aristocrats. A very unique plot kept my attention till the satisfying HEA.

This novel was a good read. True love never really dies, but sometimes takes an alternate path. Lord Hawkridge and Faith Digby were in love years ago. When Hawk inherited his father's massive debts, he was swayed by others to abandon Faith. Faith was devastated by Hawk's betrayal after indicating they would marry. Ten years later, Hawk and Faith's paths cross again. Both have changed, but they both still love each other even though they try to deny it. Hawk has been working hard to erase his father's debts and is almost there. Still, his mother feels he needs to marry a wealthy heiress. Hawk tried but failed due to his love for Faith and has his own plans to gain money. Faith's family became rather wealthy and she helps run a school for girls. Faith has a secret that she has been keeping and it would destroy everything if it comes out. She loves Hawk, but fears he is only renewing their relationship for her dowry. When Hawk discovers her secret, he gives Faith an ultimatum which she fears she must accept. Can they overcome the past in order to have a future?

This is romantic, engrossing and dramatic. Hawk is determined, stubborn and prideful. Faith is strong, independent and stubborn. Both Hawk and Faith were weak and stubborn when they were young, Hawk let other people decide what he was to do with his life, Faith let her anger rule her. Ten years later they are unexpectedly reunited, and both are confused about what they should do with their love and resentment. There were a couple of surprises along the way, and much growing up. This is a great addition to the series and I enjoyed reading it immensely.

I really loved Faith and Hawk's story! This was a reunion story, which is one of my favorites!

Hawk and Faith's relationship didn't end well (he basically dumped her after having his way with her). Although it wasn't a case of Hawk getting what he wanted and moving on, Faith didn't see it that way. So when they meet up again after many years, things didn't go very well. Neither had stopped loving the other, but Hawk would have to to do a lot of groveling to get back into Faith's good graces. Plus, there is a secret that she is hiding from Hawk. What will he do when he learns what it is?

This was a great addition to the Rogues to Riches series and I can't wait for the next book in the series, Lord of Secrets, to come out in June!
