Untamed Cowboy by Maisey Yates picks up shortly after book #1, Smooth-Talking Cowboy. I anticipated this book every since I finished book one (which I loved) - In that story, Bennett seemed like such a jerk at times that I was eager to see how Yates was going to redeem him.

And Yates accomplished that redemption. Bennett has ample motivation to be responsible and to try to keep his emotions under control, because his lack of responsibility caused suffering and the loss of a child when he was in high school. He isn't exactly hurt by Olivia moving into another relationship (book 1), but he is upset that his plans to have children with someone so perfect for him are now ruined.

His best friend Kaylee has loved Bennett since she was 13, and every man she has dated has come up lacking when compared to him. After years of friendship and working as his partner in the veterinary clinic, she has to decide if she wants him or has to move on. The choice is a difficult one to make and she has a 'cycle' that she goes through while trying to make it.

Bennett, however, is oblivious to what Kaylee wants, because he has a surprise turning his life upside down: a son he never knew.

Yates is one of my favorite authors because her books always meet expectations. The characters are authentically written and stories are engaging. In this book, the chemistry between the Kaylee and Bennett is perfect...slightly awkward as Bennett starts to look at Kaylee with aware eyes, then blazing as they act on what they want. Bennett's family is fun to read, and the addition of Dallas, Bennett's son, brought another layer of enjoyment as I saw how Bennett handled unexpected fatherhood. The happily-ever-after will bring a smile to your face.

Pre-Order now for this new installment in the Gold Valley Series.

Kaylee Capshaw knows why she's always had trouble with men. He's a gorgeous pile of best friend named Bennett Dodge. But he barely acknowledges that she's female. They even work together at the Gold Valley's veterinary clinic.

Suddenly, Bennett's life is turned upside down. He has a 15-year-old son that he never knew about. And he turns to his best friend to help him out.

Regular Yates readers won't be disappointed. This is definitely a nice addition to the Gold Valley series. I didn't love Kaylee and Bennett's whole story but overall enjoyed the book.

Such a sweet romance between Kaylee and Bennett. I enjoyed this one, it was emotional, full of love with it's steamy moments. The friendship between the two was solid and only made their relationship that much better. But they both had issues, were they able to get over them or did they let them come between them? You will have to read to find out, this was a really good book.

This was a heartwarming romance between two best friends, but it was a mite bit overwritten. Bennett and Kaylee have been friends since they were 13 years old. Kaylee comes from a terrible family situation with drunken parents who didn’t pay her any attention. The only affection she experienced came from Bennett and his family. She fell deeply in love with him and became a veterinarian because he became one. They operate a clinic together and are still best friends. She’s just tortured with her futile love for Bennett and having to witness him dating and even getting engaged to other women. She has given up any hope and just works on maintaining her equanimity in the face of her hopeless love.

Then a teenage son whom Bennett didn’t know he had turns up and Bennett’s world is turned upside down. He needs Kaylee to help him deal with his sudden fatherhood with a sullen, smart-alecky kid.

There is a touching story here, but the author kept going into great and repetitious detail about the internal monologues Kaylee and Bennett have over and over about their feelings for each other and their situations. When they’re not thinking it, they’re talking about it. For such a tough guy, Bennett certainly talks about his feelings a lot with Kaylee, his son, his brother, and his father. It just got too redundant and I found myself skimming yet another passage about Kaylee’s self torment or Bennett’s self doubts.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Untamed Cowboy is a fantastic romance that stole my heart! I loved the entire concept, but the characters? My absolute favorite! Cowboys just seem to get me every time. I very much recommend this book to all fans of the author and cowboy romances.

I wasn't sure how to feel about Bennett's story. I didn't particularly like him in the previous books but the addition of the unknown child made him so much more interesting as a character. Kaylee is awesome. I loved her in this book. The novella at the end of the book was also really good. Maisey Yates is always a must read for me.

I did not love this story. It was different than what I expected and I did not love it at all. The writing is very good and so it is an easy fast read.
Kaylee and Bennett are very good friends, he got engaged and then dumped but it was more to have a family than it was love. Meanwhile Kaylee is his partner in a vet clinic and best friend and has loved him, even while he was engaged. They are both very close but B has a huge secret.
That is that his high school girl friend was pregnant and lost the child. That is until years later, the child shows up as a 15 year old teen. Then he has to tell everyone about his secret. I LOVEd the son. But Bennett was a little too wishy washy for me to love and he hurts Kaylee a lot.
This was not my favorite book, at times it was hard to read as I really liked Kaylee but I did love Bennett's relationship with his son.

Unrequited love is very painful especially when you’ve been carrying a torch for your best friend for decades. Bennett and Kaylee co-own a veterinary clinic and spend much of their waking moments together. Bennett’s life is pretty boring until the arrival of a son he didn’t knew he had appears. Then his relationship with. Kaylee heats up and everything goes further into a tailspin. Now all they need to do is hang on until the fires die down.

I don't mind admitting that I was excited when I found out that the second book in the Gold Valley series would be Bennett's and Kaylee's.  After the glimpses we have gotten to see in previous books, I had no doubt these two would end up together and I was glad we didn't have to wait until later in the series to have it happen.

In Untamed Cowboy, we find out that Bennett wasn't always the buttoned up man that we knew him as.  You see, Bennett got his girlfriend pregnant at age 16 and after she told him she lost their baby and moved away, Bennett was determined to never let his emotions get away from him again.  He was going to make responsible logical decisions and ensure that he never put any pressure or stress on his family after everything that they had already been through.  That's why Bennett prides himself on having a plan for every aspect of his life, even if those plans mean he is settling for a life that can never truly make him happy.  Bennett was prepared to marry Olivia even though he didn't love her because he didn't want love or passion in his life.

When a social worker shows up at Bennett's house with a 15-year-old son named Dallas that Bennett didn't know he had, all of Bennett's plans for an uncomplicated life start to unravel at the seams.  Understandably, Bennett is devastated to find out that his high school girlfriend lied to him about losing the baby.  On top of that he discovers that his son's life has not been at all the life he should have had.  How can he make up for all the time he's lost and how does a man who has prided himself on guarding his heart convince his son to trust him and let him in when he doesn't let other people in himself?

The one constant in Bennett's life has always been Kaylee Capshaw.  From the moment he saw her at school looking shy and lonely, Bennett and Kaylee have been best friends.  With all the chaos in his life, right now more than ever Bennett needs Kaylee to be the source of stability in his life she has always been.

Kaylee Capshaw has been in love with Bennett for as long as she can remember.  She's stuffed her feelings down through the years knowing that Bennett didn't feel the same.  After years of having a front row seat to Bennett's relationships, she's determined once again to move on and find a relationship for herself, so why can't anyone else light her up the way Bennett does?

When Bennett tell's Kaylee that he's planning to find someone to hook up with, Kaylee can't take it anymore.  She will be damned if she can sit back and watch him move on with someone else again without ever having a chance to touch Bennett Dodge herself.  Bennett isn't prepared for Kaylee to suggest that they scratch each other's itch, but once he agrees he has to face that his feelings for Kaylee have never been as clear-cut as he has convinced himself they were.  With all of his plans obliterated, can Bennet reach for the happiness that is his for the taking?

I related to so strongly to Bennett, Kaylee and Dallas in this story due to my own background.  I saw so much of myself in Kaylee in Dallas.  The inability to trust when your parents, the people you are supposed to be able to count on are the very people who have hurt you the most.  The need to test and push people around you to see if they will abandon you like everyone else.  The knowledge that you aren't worthy of love and respect even when someone wants to give it to you.  With Bennett you can understand why he feels like he has to be perfect and never be a burden to anyone.  He watched his family go through so much, and he never wanted to feel like he added to it.

It was delightful to see Bennett, Kaylee and Dallas begin to heal the wounds from their past become the family they all deserved.  I hope we will get to see more glimpses of them in future installments of Gold Valley.

Bennett was recently in a committed relationship and his ex is still a family friend. Awkward all around. Now an unexpected complication has moved into his house in the form of a 15 year old son. All of Bennett's careful life plans are quickly disappearing.

After 17 years of friendship, going to college together, and opening a thriving veterinary practice together something has to give. Kaylee recognizes her dependence on Bennett. She doesn't want to lose what they have but how can she continue to watch him date other people while not being able to find someone herself.

Great love story about what happens when the one you love has been there so long you overlook them until you can't anymore.

Bonus book Mail Order Cowboy! Jackson has been handed a month old bundle of baby and has no idea what to do. A live in nanny seems the best solution and Savannah seems to be perfect. Too perfect. Blurring the lines has never felt so right.

Hopefully this is the start to a trilogy. We are introduced to some other family members that are in need of a little matchmaking.

Well Bennett sure knows how to get a girl all hot and bothered, “we’ll work it out,” he cut her off. “As soon as possible. I’ve got to be inside you again.” Her cheeks went bonfire hot, and Bennett’s lips curved up into a smile. “Did I make you blush, Kaylee?” I liked this book, I liked Bennett.

Bennett and Kaylee have been best friends since they were children. Somewhere along the way Kaylee fell in love with Bennett and it's been agonizing to watch him have relationships with other women. She doesn't want to ruin their friendship but keeping her feelings a secret is hard. They both love animals and are partners in a vet clinic. One day Bennett's world is changed forever and he asks for Kaylee's help. The journey from best friends to lovers is rewarding and romantic. I love this series!
