Patrica W. Fischer's Resister the Doctor was a cute, funny and super fast read. It was a nice book to grab for a yucky day at home.

Lucy has been hired at the Marietta, Montana hospital ER, and she gets some unwelcomed help from Thomas when a patient gets out of control. When Thomas gets a busted lip and she has to sew him up, the sparks fly from there. Fun banter and characters here, and love the concept that Lucy has siblings named Peter, Susan and Edmund. Fun an fast read, and one I highly recommend.

I loved this book! Thomas is working at Marietta Medical while he keeps a promise to the woman who saved his life. He has no intention of staying in the small town once his assignment ends. Lucy is the acting director of the ER at Marietta Medical and she will do all she can to keep her position past the 90 day probation period. She feels the need to prove herself because of her successful family. When things between them heat up and a relationship starts Thomas starts to imagine building a life in Marietta with Lucy. She is a very stubborn and independent woman who wants to make her own way. Spending time with Thomas makes her realize there is no shame is letting someone help you. They are two battered souls who make each other stronger. Will that be enough for them to give love a chance? Great read.

Resisting The Doctor, the first book in the Marietta Medical Series, brings a nice touch of medical romance to the quaint town of Marietta Montana.
Set in and around a busy emergency department, this story brings together two busy doctors, neither of them looking for a relationship and both of them susceptible to a strong instant attraction.
Throw in a stressed nurse with a chip on her shoulder and a dysfunctional family as well as a hint of mystery surrounding unprocessed files and this book had all the makings of a cracking good story.
For the most part I enjoyed this book though there were spots where I thought it fell off the pace a little. I also found the sex scenes clinical rather than sexy and got to the point of skipping pages to get back to the story.
Having said that, overall I liked this story. It has a lot to offer and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

steamy romance...Dr. Lucy wants to have a permanent position but initially finds it hard to fit in. New town, new climate, and scars to overcome. Dr. Thomas, playboy with no roots and a secretive past,he faces his own problems. They're attracted, and they fight the workplace romance despite the pull...until they can't.

Problems in the ER, and Dr Lucy is trying to figure out the accounting errors. Dr. Thomas's protection of a friend/nurse threatens to undermine the relationship with Dr Lucy and the hospital. Can they find a way to open up about the past, find trust, and each secure a job without losing one another. A future could be in the cards, but they must open their hearts fully.

Passionate read I recommend.

Dr. Lucy Davidson came to Marietta to find herself. She wants to be respected for her abilities. She's willing to sacrifice for her dream - to become the ER director. That is until she meets Dr. Thomas McAvoy. He's here working with her at the hospital ER. He's a skilled Doctor and a good friend. He came here to try and heal and to help his friend. Lucy and Thomas have amazing chemistry. They may butt heads but their attraction is powerful. Lucy is a fiery heroine. I loved her ninja skills. I was amazed by her work ethic and by her desire to help her patients. It was easy to fall for Dr. McAvoy. He's a man who never settled down and doesn't want to have a permanent relationship, but the more time he spends with Lucy the more he want to stay with her in Marietta. I loved their story. It's a great start to the Marietta Medical series. Patricia W. Fischer wrote characters that I cared about. The story was a wonderful romance that had healing from the past and a HEA.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Lucy is ready to help put Marietta Hospital back together. Becoming the temporary director and adjusting to the cold Montana winter is something she takes one day at a time. Mewting with interesting patients and trying to deny the growing attraction between herself and Dr. McAvoy is something she fills her days with. After recovering from an attack years ago, Thomas does his best to fulfill promises he has made even at the cost to his own health. Great read from this author!

A great start to the Marietta Medical series!

Romance, heat, and chemistry are interwoven in this story of Dr. Lucy Davidson and Dr. Thomas McAvoy. Lucy is a dedicated ER Director, while Thomas is a skilled ER doctor. Their initial meeting is tense with differing opinions on how best to treat a drunk driving accident victim. Their story progresses and they learn to make a relationship work with lots of misunderstandings that are dealt with maturely and with communication.

I enjoyed this novel although some glossary of abbreviations, and perhaps some translation to English from French and Spanish would have helped me through the first number of chapters. This is a sweet romance with a pretty hot, sexy scene thrown in! This is a great start to this series!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

Lucy has come to Marietta to be the director of the ER. Thomas has come to help his friend, Jade. Each one has their own emotional baggage and past demons to deal with, but it doesn't become the focus of the story. They're both realistic characters who are strong yet also vulnerable at times. You can't help, but root for them.

There's a little bit of mystery/suspense as well as romance.

This was a good start to the series.

I’m not normally into medical romance books but this book just jumped right out to me and I couldn’t have said no to. I’m glad that it did as I would have missed out on such a brilliant book if I hadn’t. What totally got me hooked into this story was the characters, they where amazing, very likeable and you could relate with them too as you read their story. I could definitely picture this story in my mind and it definitely took me on a journey as I read this book. There is plenty of heat, romance and chemistry throughout the book and is just the right amount too. The author has done such a wonderful job on this book, that it really shows in story and how it flows throughout the pages as you read. I will absolutely looking this author up and see what other books are out there for me to read and I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone

When Dr. Lucy Davidson accepts a position as temporary ER director in Marietta, she needs to make a statement, to prove herself to her siblings that she can make it without their help. Far from her Florida home, Lucy is in a male dominated field. When she meets the cocky Dr. Thomas McAvoy, he tries to ruffle her feathers, but proves to him that she is a smart cookie. Dr McAvoy is on a temporary assignment while he recovers from a gruesome attack, plus he’s helping his friend Jade to get house updated. He owes her big time, since he would have died in that attack, if it wasn’t for her. Now Thomas is thinking of making Marietta a permanent place to live since he and Lucy have developed this amazing chemistry. They both have gone thru life altering events in their lives and they seem to be perfect for each other.
I truly enjoyed this beautiful romantic story. Can’t wait for the next one!

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I really liked the story of Drs. Lucy and Thomas who both ended up as ER doctors in Marietta Montana. There was some steamy romance tha was well written. The characters had some humor as well as being serious. Both doctors carried a lot of baggage and during the story revealed their deepest secrets and traumas to each other. I loved their interactions. Thomas had come to help his old friend Jade get her house ready to sell. Jade didn’t like Lucy and the two continued to clash. I liked seeing some familiar Marietta characters and businesses: Sage and her chocolate shop, Carol at the pharmacy, Gabriella and her staff at the diner and Kyle and the other paramedics. I give this book 5 stars. I will look forward to book 3.i also read Book 1.

I enjoyed this story, we are back in the town of Marietta and for some reason all of those men seem perfect or near perfect truly must be something in the water, whatever it is I want some. So in this story we have Lucy an ER doctor and with a tragic pass she knows what it takes to help other heal but since she was known as the the girl who survived she needed a new start somewhere where they didn't know her past. While working the ER she is attracted to Thomas another doctor but she and he are trying to resist the attraction, she doesn't want help and he tends to travel constantly not putting down roots, but when they give in the heat turns up..Enjoy!

Resisting The Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer
Am familiar with the setup of Marietta and thought I'd enjoy this book. This is a new to me author to read.
Book starts out with Dr. Lucy Davidsons and they've just had a patient that rolled in that wanted out...fast.
Love the scene by scene descriptions as I do watch medical drama shows on tv and I can feel myself being there with them.
Like hearing of the patients and their problems and how they are being cured after finding a diagnosis.
Lucy needs to prove herself to others and hopes to take charge of the ER soon.
Another doctor, Thomas had arrived in town a bit ago and he's fascinated with the knowledge Dr. Lucy has.
Like hearing Thomas side to what's going on and Lucy's side as she takes order and puts things in order.
We learn different things from the past about each and the puzzle pieces fit nicely.
Love hearing of the other shops in town that are visited-like refreshing my mind of places gone to before in other works by other authors.
Like hearing of the conflict when new characters are introduced til you realize how they play a part in the story.
Misunderstandings and confrontations til a solution is found. Liked this author and looking forward to the next in the series.
Hot steamy sex scenes. Really like medical parts of this, didn't think I would.
Loved the scenery as we are hikers also.
Received this review copy from Tule Publishing and this is my honest review.

I give this 3 stars, the literal "I liked it" rating. This is the first in the Marietta Medical series. Lucy has come to Marietta to be the ER director. Thomas is a contract doctor, who is only temporarily in Marietta. The attraction between them is obvious to all and we briefly see/meet a host of Marietta medical characters including first responders. I really liked Thomas, he was a genuine, nice guy and the kind you'd really hope would be your doctor. Lucy is pretty intense and as she relaxed in her position at the hospital and with others in Marietta, she became more likable for me. Her level of distraction initially with Thomas' physical attraction, did not ring true for me at first, but I felt they both grew into the attraction and their relationship well. The one sex scene will make those who like hot, very happy. I thought it didn't fit the tone of the rest of the book. Complicated characters surround Lucy and Thomas, presumably we'll see them again in other books. A few times the story could have gone off the rails with Lucy and Thomas side-tracked by misunderstandings that could be cleared up if they'd only talk. Luckily that messy trope was not where this story went, Lucy and Thomas were adults and TALKED and it was such a relief. I think there is great potential for the series, and it's always nice to be back in Marietta.

Resisting the Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer is a nice beginning to a new series called "Marietta Medical". Unfortunately it has a few beginner troubles. It forgets that we don´t all know abbreviations, Spanish and French but if you find yourself able to read the first 6 chapters it actually takes off in chapter 7 and gives you a great story. If you love stories set in the fictional town of Marietta, Montana, you have yourself another nice series with this one.

This is such a great, original story from the wounded hero perspective! Seldom have I read a contemporary wounded hero with this kind of issues and so finely depicted! Kudos for the author, Patricia W. Fischer, for the research, accuracy and for making the issues, the problems a constant nuisance for our endearing and so unassuming hero. His nonchalance, supposed indifference and/or stoicism, about them are also remarkable. I could even sympathize with his tendency to bury his hand in the sand – something that made Dr. Thomas McAvoy even more endearing.
Minimizing Thomas’s issues and emphasizing Lucy’s issues made me much more sympathetic towards the first. It’s not that I didn’t like Lucy Davidson, an ER doctor that maintains a certain innocence despite her tough job, but I found her too tolerant with Jade’s abuses.
There’s another thing I loved about this book: it is a truly realistic (at least from my ordinary person perspective) medical romance. The ER, its patients and personnel seem real. The doctor who is a terrible patient sounds so believable. And the opening scene with an obnoxious patient is excellent, with the somewhat geek hero entering the stage with that low profile style. I loved it!

Resisting the Doctor is the first in the Marietta Medical Series by Patricia W. Fischer. It is an enjoyable short novel. It has a bit of a slow start with the scene taking place in the ER but as the story progressed, it all fit together. It has Thomas McAvoy, a great doctor, friend and all around good guy and Dr. Lucy Davidson, must-prove-myself woman. Her past and her family especially the siblings served to flesh out this character, explaining why she behaved as she did.

Within their story s another subplot concerning a nurse, Jade. Her struggles, issues and problems add the needed tension that keeps this from being a run-of-the-mill romance. I wasn’t sure about her at first or how she would fit in the story, but found I kept looking for references or scenes that she was in, definitely eyebrow raising person. The one scene that stands out is the one in which Lucy and she run into each other in Carol Bingley’s Pharmacy. Funny and keeping in character for both women. There is also another subplot concerning a Hispanic child.

All of this adds to the romantic story of Thomas and Lucy, making Resisting the Doctor an interesting read. Don’t let the blatant cover fool you. I look forward to more of this series and books by Patricia W. Fischer.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
