The romance was ridiculously unbelievable (and insta-love, ugh), the writing mediocre, and the plot was predictable. I have read a lot of paranormal romance, and this one didn't stand out from the pack at all.

I have to admit, I almost gave up on this book. The beginning was confusing as hell. Characters were introduced without much fanfare, they were just there, no background info was given. I dont know if that was the intent of the author, making us sympathize with Frankie as she also meets them? But since I love the authors "Forbidden Secrets series, I decided to keep on reading. It was a good read.
Frankie was likable if a little hard around the edges, Christopher was a good counterpart for her, soft but capable to handle her.
I have to say, the most intriguing character for me was Mano! Im hoping in the future we get to read his story!

Lies That Blind by Diana Rose Wilson was first book which I have read for her. All opinions are my owns and I want to thank you NetGalley and the publisher that I can read this book. The book is the first book of the Spirit Beast series.

The plot was quite interesting and I liked it. I enjoyed it, because characters were fantastic even thought the start was quite slow. Chemistry between characters were something which make to be sad and happy at the same time, because sometimes it was quite confused. The book was ok after the story started open more, but maybe because this was only the first part of the series, it left many questions. Maybe I need read more books by Diana Rose Wilson that I know, what kind of style for her books usual is,

Better than I thought I would be.
Although I was a little confused by the start of it.. I enjoyed the characters and their uniqueness and how this is very different from your usual PNR

This is volume one of a very exciting series.

Frankie was kept hidden from the rest of her California family for some reason, but grew up tough as nails on the streets of Brooklyn with a crazy mother and a martial arts trainer named Dave, paid for by a man he knew only as "Mr. California". Mysterious and wonderful Aunt Amy would visit now and again, to oversee business at the local branches of the family restaurant..

But now Aunt Amy has died, and Frankie needs to take over her inheritance on the other side of the country, an estate and a community her late mother has taught her to fear, as much as she hated and feared the birthmark. on Frankie's palm. She tried to remove the red feather, but it grew right back.

But at Aunt Amy's memorial, that mark stops being an ache and a pain when she is thrown up against the dark handsome stranger with jungle-green eyes. Slowly but surely, her life changes from a constant urge to hide to an unfolding of her own true talents. Together with her 'knight' Christopher and her other relations, the forces aiming to sweep in and take over the valley are thwarted, and all the community's loyalties are tested.

Also, the sex is mind-blowing. The teasers leading to future installments are not infuriating either; there is a satisfying conclusion.

I have to admit I didn't like this as much as other books of hers. This one was slow and hard to follow at t.imes But if you hang in there it gets better . I like that it's in the now being paranormal its usually another time. And the sex scene 's were what you've come to expect from her.

Well this was certainly different, it seemed to throw in the Shorter genre with a little of witchy magic with it. It had some fantastic characters and awesome secondary characters that hope to hear more from in the future. An interesting story that (admittedly did take a while yo get into, and became a bit slow at times) did flow quite well.
Definitely a must read for fans of paranormal romance, if only to show you how the genre is evolving.
Frankie, though is definitely a favourite character of mine now though!

Lies That Blind by Diane Rose Wilson is book one of the Spirit Beast series. Frankie travels from New York to California to attend her Aunt’s funeral. When Frankie inherits all of her Aunt’s assets, everything about her world changes. Meeting Christopher helps her integrate into an existence she never dared believe possible.

Starting this story was difficult. Right out of the gate is an introduction I feared would lead into a love triangle. Then there is a wake with many people to keep track of and decide how to interpret. Admittedly I got a little lost. I now feel this was a brilliant way to inject the reader into the uncertainty Frankie must feel. She doesn’t know these people, who they are or what they mean to each other. Feeling awkward about the exchanges going on, feeling unsure about their interaction with her and between each other. It gives a sense of where she had to be at mentally in that scenario. It was a bit jarring, but I get it. And the love triangle is addressed, but is not as bad as I anticipated.

The story roots in an urban fantasy world. There are hints of it when Lies That Blind begins but, the mystery unwraps as Frankie becomes aware of it. Frankie meets Christopher, and the story starts to come together. First, I admit that I have a dislike for most love at first sight situations. When handled well, it works for me, and here it was. I would call Frankie and Christopher soul mates or something of the like, and it felt genuine. Qualities exist that are unique to this world, making it a nice change from the usual paranormal romances out there. And the author’s way of connecting the reader to the story was very engaging. It was emotionally connecting and fast paced, an urgent feeling at times when there was conflict building. My tell when things get tense is clenching my fists, while reading this I did that. Worth mentioning, it was a carnal tale, and it worked for these characters. The passion between them was raw and visceral, almost palpable. It was appropriate for Frankie and Christopher.

Oh, how I hate novellas. That’s not true I don’t. I have various reason why I prefer a full-length novel, but in this case, I wanted more, so much more. My favorite stories in this genre are those that could stand without the romance built into the plot. Although it would change it some, with this beginning, I would wager Lies That Blind is one of those stories. Highly recommended. I was given the opportunity to read this through Netgalley for my honest opinion. I encourage all readers to reach their own conclusions.

The starting was a little intense, but the book is fantastic! The characters are well-written and the relationship between the characters is intriguing. The book is a page-turner and once you get past the set-up of the novel, it’s a wonderful read.

This was an fantastic story, although the first 20% of the book has me so confused.... I had no clue where, who, what. Then the story opened up and I was completely enthralled. Now I still have a lot of unanswered questions, I feel like maybe this was a beginning of a series teaser, but I am excited to read more. I love how they just clicked, the relationship with the community still has me wondering where this is going. I enjoyed the characters and their uniqueness and how this is very different from your usual PNR.

This is my second book by Diana Wilson and I really enjoyed it. Sexy characters. Sexy scenes. I would have love if the story was a bit longer but all in all, very good.
