I enjoyed this book, it was written well and it flowed nicely.
I liked the main characters and there were a couple of laugh out loud moments.
Yes it was obvious and cheesy, but in a lovely way. I found myself smiling a few times and a lump in my throat too.
I would definitely recommend it for a afternoon read to relax with.

I haven't read Donna Ashcroft before but I enjoyed her book. Good storyline and a quick chick lit read. I thought the end was rushed a little, I would have liked to have read about the triathlon more as that was when the story was building up to.
I would look out for her next book. I hope there is another one about Castle Cove. Thank you for accepting my request.

I received a digital ARC of #SummerAtTheCastleCafe from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

When I read the title and blurb of this book it reminded me a lot of the " ... at the Comfort Food Cafe" series by Debbie Johnson, which I absolutely loved. I fell in love with the descriptions of the scenery, places and characters, and I was hoping the same would happen with this book and the Castle Cafe. I can honestly say it did! I loved it. Straight away I loved the characters, not just the main characters of Alice and Jay, but the others such as Cath and Shaun. Each character has their own story going on within this book, and I hope that Donna Ashcroft will write more in this series as I'd love to read more about any of the characters mentioned in this book.

Was this predictable? Slightly. It has the anticipated HEA but I liked that (no cliffhangers here). I have been reading a few psychological thrillers recently so this made a nice change. I wasn't having to second guess every move made and look out for twists and turns. It wasn't an easy ride for Jay and Alice, or for some of the other characters who became romantically linked in this book. This is a lovely warming read and I would happily read any other books in the series, should the author decide to write any more.

The perfect book to relax with over the summer months - a love story which unfolds over the duration of the book as if in real time. I am sure that many people can relate to Alice and Jay's relationship within the book, many will have friends who have been through the same and I am sure, as I was, there were times during the book when I wanted to intercept and give them both a good talking to and make them see what is happening.
The front cover is a great advert for the book - I would love to visit Castle Cove and take in the scenery. Donna's book is the perfect summer read while relaxing in the summer sun.
Thank you to Bookouture for inviting me to take part in the blog blitz in return for an honest review

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. Alice relocates to the seaside town of Castle Cove and starts working at the Castle Cafe. As she is training for a triathlon, she has to deal with several personal issues including her fear of water. Along comes Jay who is looking for a summer fling! The sparks fly and Jay soon is helping Alice overcome her issues! This was a great romance.

A sweet feel good romance which drew me into the book with its gentle breeze, swaying me till I immersed myself into the pages where there was love and fun and humor.
Alice comes to Castle Cove after her mother's death, finds a job in the local cafe, and participates in the triathlon. And then there is Jay who has his own sad past and it was wonderful to see both the main characters struggling to go beyond their pasts and forge a new life together.
The book had it all, laughter and tears, sadness and happiness, grief and love. A complete warm book which would get the heart move slowly towards hope and warmth of love.
My first book by Donna Ashcroft and I loved it totally!!

I so enjoyed this book. Castle Cove seems such a lovely place to live with so many warm and delightful characters. It was the perfect bit of escapism and when I had to drag myself away, I couldn’t wait to get back to it. It made me giggle and the romance made me smile. This is a brilliant debut and I can wait for her next title in the series.

A good story of two people, Alice and Jay, who at first glance have nothing in common, end up being perfect for each other. Both have a lot of issues to overcome, and both are what each other need to help overcome those same issues. Simplifying a bit here. but really enjoyed this one. A perfect story to take to the beach. Highly recommend this book and author.

What a lovely, sweet romance novel!

This book easily drew me in from the get go and I was swept away by the descriptive scenes, imagining myself on the sandy beach with a gentle breeze blowing, giving me the summer feels whilst reading this cute, entertaining romantic comedy.

As a newcomer to Castle Cove, we get to watch Alice as she struggles to make changes after her mom's death; taking up a job working at the local café ; setting a goal to participate in a triathlon and also failing at her attemp to keep to herself. Friendship and romance come knocking and we get to witness the charming although sometimes frustrating love story between Jay and Alice. With grief and guilt overshadowing both their lives, are they able to drop their guard, get past it and move forward?

With a touch of sadness, this warm, humorous and heartfelt romance novel, set in a beautiful setting with totally loveable characters, was a joy read.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

This has to be one of the loveliest romance novels to be written. I've read it about three times in this last month and I think I'll be reading it a few more times this year alone. Ashcroft is able to develop the characters in a very endearing manner. Alice and Jay are both haunted and incomplete and it was so heartwarming to see how they helped heal each others hearts.
I look forward to featuring this read on my blog!

Summer at the Castle Cafe is a really warm feel good story to read this summer. . I had to stay up and read overnight. It has romance, humor, heartbreak, friendship, scrumptious food, loveable characters and a gorgeous pup. What more could you want? A must read

What could be more fun than reading a book like this during summer when the heat is trying to kill you? This is a really warm feel good story and I loved every moment of reading it. It's not too deep and it doesn't pretend to be. However, it does have a little bit of everything. Romance, heartbreak, grief, anxiety, food (the most important thing), humour and likable characters.

After her mum passes away, Alice comes to work at the Castle Cove, I loved the fact that there were moments when we could see that she was still dealing with the loss, that she wasn't quite out of the process yet. Jay was sort of like peanut butter to her jelly and together they made PB and J? I am not sure.

But I loved the way the story unfolded and it was always such a fun time to get back into the lives of Alice and Jay. All in all, if you are looking for a summer read that's fun and yet genuine, then this is the book for you.
