The introduction and the appendix, along with the historical significance, are the most interesting elements of this book. The actual text is drawn out and fairly one-note. The characters are not much distinguished from one another; therefore it is difficult to develop sympathy for any of them. Academically, I’m glad I’ve encountered it, but I have to say I’m disappointed in the actual read.
