What the fuck did I just read?! At first I didn't know what to think as this began with Claire doing an "acting" job. Even the format that it was written was a little off. It was like reading a manuscript for a movie/play.ni wasn't sure if I was going to like it if it had continued that way. When a client gets killed after one of Claire's "acting" jobs she does for a law firm, she finds herself a suspect. I really don't want to say much because I think it would ruin the reading experience for others. I honestly didn't know what the hell was happening or what or who to believe! I thought it was well done. Towards the end I was beginning to waver and thinking that the book was losing its momentum but then WHAM! I was shaking my head, thinking what the hell?! Couldn't put this one down! Found it to be a highly entertaining read.

This book was a roller coaster! I felt like she was crazy and I couldn't tell who the killer was, if the cops were telling the truth, or what. But by the end, I was completely mesmerized by the whole story. Similar books are out there, but this one is the best of them!

I'm struggling to give this one a rating. I liked J.P. Delaney's other work, and wanted to really like this one as well, but there were a few things that just hold me back from saying it's a great book.

The book is very fast-paced and interesting to read. It is much more raw, raunchy and aggressive than his other book, which I found appealing, but I think others could easily be turned off by it. Part One I really enjoyed. It caught my attention, moved along quickly and made me interested in the characters. Part Two was where it started to lose steam. The whole premise is a bit flawed and wouldn't occur in the real world, and the interactions are sometimes a stretch. By Part Three there were so many twists and turns that were sort of interesting, but also made it confusing at times. It was like the author was trying too hard for shock value. However, all of that said, I did like the ending and thought it was well done. Some may say it was wrapped up too tightly in a nice neat package, but I think there was enough to say it was a good ending.

I would recommend, but don't think it's a "Must Read!"

I sure didn’t see that one coming! This book kept me reading late into the night and kept me guessing until the end. It really makes you question what is real and what is not!

I received this ebook from the publisher for a review through Netgalley. This book was different then what I was expecting and different from a lot of the other suspense novels that I have been reading recently. I was able to predict who I thought was the murderer, but I enjoyed all of the different twists and turns that you had to get through to get there. I enjoyed the short chapters and it made it seem like I was flying through the book. I'm not really in to poetry and one of the major emphasis of the book revolving around poetry did get old to me after a while, but it stuck out because it was different then what I have been seeing in other novels. I have read this authors other novel, The Girl Before, and I would recommend both to other suspense readers

I enjoyed The Girl Before, and I think this book was just as inventive and suspenseful. It was really twisty and I didn't know who to trust or how the story would end.

I thought this book was so good! I got a bit lost, at times, but in a good way; like what the hell is going on here. I thought that this book definitely had very original premises and kept the reader engaged; by making sure it was not getting too expected. I thought the characters were very developed, but I had never expected what happened at the end, I thought maybe something similar, but I was happily surprised! Highly recommend for my fellow psychological thriller fans, this is one that will keep you looking every where!

This book was amazing! I loved J.P. Delaney's The Girl Before, so I came in with high expectations and it did not disappoint. It is so hard to write a review because I don't want to give anything away. Delaney's characters are strong. He writes a sociopath beautifully - with elegance and intellect. So many books make their antagonist one dimensional, like they are reading the description of a sociopath from a textbook, but Delaney's characters are much more nuanced. He's got them charming the pants off you... right until they don't. I also loved that the narrator was unreliable and we weren't quite sure what was true - add to that a little question of her sanity and the psych major in me was devouring this book whole. I also loved the writing style, and how the narrator thought of her life as a part in a play or a movie half of the time. I loved that the crimes were based on a book! What reader doesn't love that? It's pretty dark and creepy and made me feel a little like Claire questioning her sanity for liking it so much - but I don't care! I loved it! 5 stars.

This was a quick read. The plot kept me interested and wanting to find out how it ended. It was a little confusing trying to figure out who was conning who (especially since Claire was an actress and "living" the part so well). I look forward to this author's next book.

3.5 stars. A twisty, psychological thriller. Interesting enough but with so many deceptions, lies, twists and turns that it was frustrating. Did keep you guessing but not necessarily in a good way. Unlikeable characters. The main character, Claire, is a total mess, and the story is told by scenes she acts out for real or just in her head. The reader is never quite sure which it is, so keeps the suspense going. Unfortunately, the whole scenario just seemed a bit phony and didn’t read “real” to me. Loved “The Girl Before” and will be looking forward to the author’s next book.

I started to read the book and at first I was going to put it down because the first chapter was so hard to get through. Too much to absorb but one I got through it oh boy, couldn't put it down. It's a book that once you start you have to finish. Twist and turns at every corner.

A fantastic book by JP Delaney! I read a lot of thrillers and suspense books. This is one of the best twists that I have read recently. Thanks to the publisher for the advanced read!

At times this suspense lost my interest almost completely but most often it was above average. Anyone into psychological thrills will enjoy this book...

Second read for me by this author, and really enjoyed both books. This is actually a rewrite of a prior book, per the author. It’s a fun, quick read, a mystery/thriller with a few twists. Excellent character development, with great mix of personalities. Although I had an end in mind, it wasn’t the ending I expected. The H is a professor, a translator of poetry of a delicate nature. The h is an actress, with a troubled past. They meet on the night his wife is killed and both are suspects. I don’t want to spoil the book, there are numerous twists. For me, it was an intriguing and worthy read.

After reading a string of run of the mill mysteries, this book surprised me. The plot is fresh and I kept turning the pages trying to figure out what was going on. The characters in the book are hard to pin down and psychologically twisty which adds to the fun ride. The ending is satisfying, too.

Believe Me by JP Delaney is a well written novel. Its main character Claire is. lonely and desperate for. work. She has many adventures and is taken advantage of several times throughout the story. The author sets up many tricky situations that Claire hs to manage and come through safly. To mention more of the plot will. give it away and I don't want to do that. One must read the entire book and discover how each event leads to a satisfing end.

Claire has dreams of being on the big stage and making her mark on the acting world, but in the mean time in order to stay in the country while trying to make her dream a reality, she needs a job to pay the bills and keep her afloat, so she takes a job working for a local law firm. This job not only pays the bills, but also gives her the chance to tap into her acting skills by playing the temptress that lures married men into compromising situations... which ultimately helps their spouses prove that their not the devoted husbands that they claim to be. All seems to be going according to plan until her current client asks her to catch her philandering husband by luring him in and making a move on him... but for some reason he doesn't take the bait and her client winds up being found dead in her home. Claire is certain she knows who the killer is, but catching him may be a little tricky!

Believe Me is a spellbinding tale riddled with twists and turns that will toy with your thoughts and have you teetering on the edge of your seat the whole way through! This is my first experience with this author's work and I have to say he just scored a new fan with this one, his newest offering was downright thrilling! The story line was well crafted, the characters were top-notch, and I think it is safe to say that this one will be a big hit with thriller-suspense fans!! Highly recommend!!

It's probably an excellent thriller. She writes well. But I can't get past the first 30 pp. due to the nature of the subject matter. Sorry.

Having previously read The Girl Before I was excited to read another book by JP Delaney. Believe Me did not disappoint. I was gripped by this thriller right away and raced through the book, nervously, as I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. Brilliantly written with the perfect amount of suspense. Cannot wait to read more from JP Delaney.

I loved it. I was a big fan of The Girl Before and was glad to see that the next JP Delaney book didn’t disappoint like others have (cough Into The Water). Read this one in a day.
