White Lies is a book that will keep you guessing and then second-guessing right up to the very end.

Dr. Alexandra Inglis is on an all-girls trip. Having way too much to drink the night before, she wakes up next to someone in bed who is not her husband. To make matters worse, she finds out that the man she slept with turns out to be one of her patients. When she tries to tell him it was a mistake he turns into an obsessive stalker. Well, that's Alex's version. Jonathon, on the other hand has a different version of their relationship. He says they have been having a 3 month affair and when he tried to end it, she became the aggressor. A classic he said, she said.

The story pulls you in right from the beginning. Never knowing who to believe, you go back and forth on who to believe. It was fast-paced and keeps your attention. You keep turning the page to find out truth. Never saw the ending coming.

I look forward to reading more books from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of Lucy Dawson's "White Lies" in exchange of an honest review.

A gripping thriller? I’m in! White Lies by Lucy Dawson is a must read. If you are looking for a heart-stopping, roller coaster of a book, look no further!

Alexandra Inglis is a respected family doctor, trusted by her patients to keep their most intimate secrets. And if sometimes the boundaries between duty and desire blur… well, she’s only human.

But when Alex oversteps a line with Jonathan, one of her patients, she knows she’s gone too far. Jonathan is obsessive, and to get what he wants he will tear Alex’s world apart – threatening not only her career but her marriage and family too.

Soon Alex finds she’s capable of doing almost anything to keep hold of her perfect life, as it begins to spin dangerously out of her control…

Seriously friends, is there anything better than a good book? I really don’t think so.

An interesting take on who is telling the truth and who is lying and how your belief on this can change as you read. Overall, very enjoyable.

He said/she said.  It's a familiar trope that shows up in many stories.  In White Lies by Lucy Dawson, however, the trope plays out a little differently than most.  Alex Inglis, a married doctor with a family, and seventeen-year-old Jonathan not only have two, different versions of the truth, but their stories are so divergent that everything - even the events themselves - are suspect.  It's up to the reader to decide who's being honest and who's lying.

The plot was gripping.  In fact, I had a thirty-minute wait at the doctor's office, and I didn't mind it at all since I was desperate to read to the end of the book.  As far-fetched as some of the events seemed, I couldn't be sure who was telling the truth: Alex or Jonathan.  Looking back, the ending came as no surprise, but it was a satisfactory conclusion.

My biggest complaint was that I wasn't emotionally invested in any of the characters.  Yes, I wanted to know who the liar was, but my curiosity wasn't based on concern for either Alex or Jonathan.  In fact, I didn't like either character very much.  Jonathan was an arrogant teenager with no redeeming qualities, and Alex was a meh person who made bad decisions.  The minor characters all faded into the background.  White Lies was definitely a plot-driven novel.

The other thing that put me off was that the high point of the story happens off camera (as it were).  To my disappointment, there was no exciting climax in which two characters finally confront each other.  Instead, the major event is discussed after the fact and becomes more of a postscript.  I would have much preferred to read about it as it happened.

White Lies is a fast-paced read with a great plot, but it's lacking in character depth.  Overall, I give it a three out of five stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the review copy.

I absolutely loved this book as I can't remember last time when a book gripped me as much as this one. I enjoyed the whole she said/he said scenario and really wasn't sure who to believe. All plot lines were completely plausible and realistic, although I did find some characters a little cliche. I haven't read any other books by Lucy Dawson but will definitely look them up now. I have already recommended White Lies to several of my friends, as it is a real page-turner.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Absolutely loved this , couldn't put it down once i'd started . Dr Alex Inglis is a GP who has a one night stand on a girls weekend away . It soon becomes clear that its a lot more complicated than that , she found out recently her husband had done the same . she believes her indiscretion was with a stranger but we soon learn that he is one of her patients , and still at school . You really feel for Alex as you read her story and i was so sure her account was correct . We then have the story from the point of view of Jonathon Day , and it seems according to him that they had been having a torrid affair for the last three months . I really wasn't sure who to believe , as both stories sounded credible . This had me hooked from start to finish and can whole heartedly recommend it . 5 stars from me

This book starts our with our main character going on a girls night and sleeping with someone who isn't her husband. Her relationship was strained after a previous infidelity so while this one evens the score it doesn't make it easier to take. The couple decide to try their best to work it out and promise not to let anyone else know what happened. What makes it worse was that the person who Alex slept with turned out to be an underage man. It isn't long before Alex is accused of assaulting the child by both his family and the people she knows. Her reputation as a doctor is down the toilet and it becomes a story of he said, she said. I really enjoyed all of the twists in this story and I couldn't put it down at all. This book was fully of mystery and it really kept the reader on their toes. I'm really glad that I got a chance to read this story.

This book was different than anything I have read before. I didn't know who was lying and who was telling the truth. It was a wild ride of a book.

Alexandra Inglis is a very likable, flawed character. She is a family doctor. Weeks before her planned girls trip to Ibiza, her husband confesses to a one-night stand with a colleague. One drunken night on the Ibiza trip with her girlfriends, she makes a mistake and has what she thinks is a one night stand. Only the guy she slept with turns out to be someone who lives in her community and he wants more from her.

The characters are well-developed, the plot is tight, the writing style kept me riveted. The writing was simple and flowed, making the book easy to read quickly to find out what the heck was going on. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview White Lies by Lucy Dawson.
A female doctor, Alex Inglis, wakes up from a "girls weekend" in bed with a handsome young man - she is embarrassed, but has slept with this man out of revenge. Her husband confessed to cheating on her recently so this is her way of getting him back.
She confesses to her husband, but it's not over - this young man is a patient of hers, although she states that she doesn't recall him being treated at her office. And he's 17 years old - she's 40.
Drama ensues and this book goes back and forth in several voice POV's. The doctor, the husband, the doctor's boss, the young man, and his girlfriend - each tell their story and they couldn't be more different.
Was Alex having an ongoing affair with a 17 year old man, was the young man stalking her or a victim, and is the husband blameless or is he seeking revenge.
This is a good book and a good ending.

I received this book "White Lies" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed reading this book. Dr Alexandra Inglis goes on a holiday with her girlfriends to Ibiza and get drunk, sleeps with a stranger. But was he a stranger? She confesses to her husband Rob and they decide to work things out. Alex says it was only one night and she doesn't know the man she slept with. The man happens to be a patient of hers and a 17 year old student - Jonathan. Jonny says they have been having an ongoing affair. You really want to know - what is the truth? Is Alex telling the truth about her one night stand or has she been with Jonny more than once? Jonny says they had a 3 month affair but did they? Jonny goes public with the accusations and Alex's whole life is turned upside down. When will it stop? How can she make it stop so her life goes back to normal?

Wow, what a fantastic read. This is one of those books that once you have got started you will not want to put down. Where do I start to review it? Alex, is a GP, and on holiday in Ibiza has a one night stand with a younger man. Her world then falls apart when she returns home and finds herself farce to face with him in her home village. Then her nightmare begins. The chapters are told by Alex, by her husband Rob, by Jonathan the young man and his girlfriend Cherry. The tension builds, who is telling the truth? You will be guessing right until the end and then you will be shocked! This rates as one of the best books I have read so far this year. Don’t miss reading it, you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for another brilliant book to read and review.

On a girls’ holiday in Ibiza, Alexandra Inglis has a one night stand with a good-looking young man she has just met in a club. She doesn’t even know his name. It happens, I guess. But Alex isn’t an eighteen-year-old party girl - she’s older. She’s married. And she’s a doctor.

But the story doesn’t start or end there.

I began reading White Lies knowing very little about it other than that it was by Lucy Dawson, whose work I’ve previously enjoyed. So I had little idea what to expect - though the title was a clue that you can’t believe everything everyone says. We hear very different versions of the same events... but who is telling the truth, and who is lying? It’s a fascinating read as Alex’s life unravels - how far is she the architect of her own misfortune, though, and where on earth will it all end?

The popular multiple-narrator trope is used to great effect here, including at the end - which has a twist which I did kind of guess a little in advance, but is no less effective for that.

White Lies is an excellent and compelling read which is very cleverly structured and keeps the reader wondering throughout as to what’s really going on.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

On the cover we see Alexandra looking behind a blind. A catchy phrase immediately attracts: "A bad decision, a big secret, a family that has everything to lose".

The story tells us that Alexandra Inglis, a family doctor, keeps the secrets of her patients. But when she goes overboard with one of his patients: Jonathan, she will suspect that she has gone too far. As for him, he's going to kill him hard.

A thriller that I loved to read, a touching story, captivating with Alex's endearing character.

This is the first book i have read by Lucy Dawson, but now I'm going to have to read her others as I LOVED this book. This book had me hooked right in from page 1 with absolutely no idea who was telling the truth, and no idea what the truth would turn out to be!!! Anyone reading this review has to read it now!

EXCERPT: I glanced at the crumpled, empty bed and shuddered at what I'd done there with him in the night - things that I let happen. That I made happen. I put my hands up to my thudding head, threaded my fingers into my hair and closed my eyes.

Things that I now will never be able to undo.

ABOUT THIS BOOK: When you have everything, you have everything to lose…

Alexandra Inglis is a respected family doctor, trusted by her patients to keep their most intimate secrets. And if sometimes the boundaries between duty and desire blur… well, she's only human.

But when Alex oversteps a line with Jonathan, one of her patients, she knows she's gone too far. Jonathan is obsessive, and to get what he wants he will tear Alex's world apart - threatening not only her career but her marriage and family too.

Soon Alex finds she's capable of doing almost anything to keep hold of her perfect life, as it begins to spin dangerously out of her control…

MY THOUGHTS: What a wild ride! Who to believe? Who is the liar? Alex? Jonathan? Or are they both lying? What is it they say? There's his story, there's her story, and then there's the truth...

White Lies is told from multiple points of view, mainly from Alex and Jonathan's perspective, but we also hear from Alex's husband, her boss, Jonathan's girlfriend, his parents. . . and that would be the reason I deducted 1/2 star from this otherwise brilliant read, there were just too many points of view. Not all of them contributed anything to the story.

I just didn't want to put this down. I didn't want to go to work. I just wanted to be left in peace to read this brilliantly addictive book. I loved Dawson's The Daughter, and White Lies is every bit as good. I had knots in my stomach and a stranglehold on my Kindle as I read. Dawson knows just how to hook a reader and wind him in. 4.5 very bright stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of this read - all opinions are my own.

I had started to hear some buzz about this book before I was sent an advanced copy, and it completely piqued my interest. The plot follows the two sides to a complex he said/she said story - this one centered around a female doctor who has slept with a random stranger - only the stranger turns out to be one of her patients - a patient she claims she didn't recognize. He, on the other hand, claims the opposite and seems to be obsessed with her - but who is telling the truth?

This book is a delightfully tense and suspenseful read - moving back and forth from the two sides, I felt like I could never get a good handle on who to trust. I loved the uncertainty of the story and the fact that there was no clear cut answer on who is lying and about what. I don't want to say more, because readers should get to enjoy this story without expectation, but I can say that this is a terrific psychological thriller and mystery lovers are going to devour it. This will also be a great selection for book clubs, as it leaves the reader with MUCH to discuss and dissect.

Looking forward to more from Lucy Dawson!

White Lies by Lucy Dawson an extraordinary psychological thriller which will have your imagination in turmoil as the pages turn and the end nears.

White lies is centred around two main characters, Alex Inglis, a family Doctor and Jonathan a 17 year patient of the practice in which Alex is a Doctor. Unbeknown to Alex Boundaries and Ethics are crossed as she has slept with a young man whilst under the influence and in a drunken stupor. What was meant to be a fun girls holiday turns sour. When on her return home Alex tries to expel her guilt by telling her husband of her infidelity with this anonymous person, whom she thinks she will never meet again.

How wrong could she be!

Alex has much too lose, her husband, her children and her career when it becomes apparent who this young man is. Jonathan on the other hand develops an obsession with Alex commanding her attention by any means necessary to the point he becomes like a stalker, who are you to believe and how far will they go.
Its unbelievable how a person can be so gullible in believing this one night stand wouldn’t come back and bite them on the backside, its a shameful act which has been easily developed into a he said/ she said scenario.
Batting back and forth the reactions of the main characters and their counterparts, the twists and turns unfold in a multitude of ways that never falter, driving you deeper into the thriller, peeling back the layers of scrupulous White Lies.

This is a psychological thriller which is well written and challenges you with every page turn, Lucy has managed to infiltrate my mind leaving me perplexed as to where I took the wrong turn, I’m glad though as it gave a high end impact which blew me away.

Thank you to Bookouture, Lucy Dawson and Kim Nash for the advanced readers copy of White Lies and to be given the opportunity to be able to read and review for the Blog Tour.
