White Lies by Lucy Dawson an extraordinary psychological thriller which will have your imagination in turmoil as the pages turn and the end nears.

White lies is centred around two main characters, Alex Inglis, a family Doctor and Jonathan a 17 year patient of the practice in which Alex is a Doctor. Unbeknown to Alex Boundaries and Ethics are crossed as she has slept with a young man whilst under the influence and in a drunken stupor. What was meant to be a fun girls holiday turns sour. When on her return home Alex tries to expel her guilt by telling her husband of her infidelity with this anonymous person, whom she thinks she will never meet again.

How wrong could she be!

Alex has much too lose, her husband, her children and her career when it becomes apparent who this young man is. Jonathan on the other hand develops an obsession with Alex commanding her attention by any means necessary to the point he becomes like a stalker, who are you to believe and how far will they go.
Its unbelievable how a person can be so gullible in believing this one night stand wouldn’t come back and bite them on the backside, its a shameful act which has been easily developed into a he said/ she said scenario.
Batting back and forth the reactions of the main characters and their counterparts, the twists and turns unfold in a multitude of ways that never falter, driving you deeper into the thriller, peeling back the layers of scrupulous White Lies.

This is a psychological thriller which is well written and challenges you with every page turn, Lucy has managed to infiltrate my mind leaving me perplexed as to where I took the wrong turn, I’m glad though as it gave a high end impact which blew me away.

Thank you to Bookouture, Lucy Dawson and Kim Nash for the advanced readers copy of White Lies and to be given the opportunity to be able to read and review for the Blog Tour.

Oh my gosh, I'm a little bit shell shocked after having just read this book. That was one heck of a story from start to finish. A thoroughly entertaining and suspenseful thriller of a read.

I just have to say that Lucy Dawson is a new author to me, so when I came to read this book I had no idea what to expect. Suffice to say I will now be looking to read her previous books.

Absolutely brilliant story and excellent characterization throughout, it didn't take long to be completely captivated and entwined within the story and getting into the bare bones of the storyplot. I swear I literally didn't know who to believe, who was lying and who was telling the truth.

The story was never told by just one character, you get to hear it from other characters too which does give you various and different outlooks whilst trying to figure who is ultimately lying and how will it all end.

I literally couldn't turn the pages fast enough and I was in constant anticipation as to what would happen next. As for that little shocking twist at the end, well I never, definitely wasn't expecting that.

I may be Lucy's newest fan but I totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a good psychological thriller with plenty of suspenseful moments. It really was a thoroughly entertaining and suspenseful thriller of a read.

Dr Alexandra Inglis a doctor and married mother of two young girls, she goes to Ibiza for a girls getaway with her friends. She really needed this break, for several months she has been trying to come to grips with the fact that her husband slept with another woman. After a night of heavy drinking Alexandra wakes to find a man she doesn't know in her bed.
Horrified over what she has done Alexandra confesses to her husband Rob, who assures her they will work through the problems in their marriage, they soon realize this is going to be much harder than they expected.
Alexandra finds out that the stranger she slept with in Ibiza is actually a patient of hers and he is only 17 years old. Now the psychological roller coaster ride begins. Stalking and a lot of he said, she said. Alexandra's career and marriage are in jeopardy. The story is told from each person's point of you and as you read each one you believe them and start to question what the other person said. Who can be trusted, who is telling the truth? I was very surprised when all is revealed. This was the first book I've read by Lucy Dawson and I look forward to reading more! I enjoyed this story and the characters.

**5 Goodreads Stars**

For a mother of two young children, the opportunity to take a short vacation and let loose for a bit in Ibiza sounds tantalizing, right? In Lucy Dawson's White Lies what initially seemed like a fabulous trip to get a break from working motherhood turns into a living nightmare for Dr. Alexandra ("Alex") Inglis.

The book starts with Alex waking up with a severe hangover after a wild night in Ibiza. She startles when she discovers she's not alone in her hotel room and that a handsome young man in naked in her bed. She has little recollection of what happened the night before other than she knows she drank way too much alcohol. The young man stumbles out of the hotel room after she nearly kicks him out. Embarrassed and ashamed that she had a one night stand, Alex goes home and admits her misdeeds to her husband, Rob, hoping they can reconcile.

We soon learn that Alex's husband, Rob, isn't a saint, either. He recently had a one night stand with a mutual friend, which absolutely devastated Alex. Alex and Rob agree that they are even given their one and only affairs and commit to working harder on their marriage. Things seem to be looking up for Alex until she discovers the young man she slept with in Ibiza was not only her patient but also only 17 years of age.

The young man, Jonathon, threatens to reveal the affair to the world if she doesn't sleep with him again, but Alex refuses. Shocked, she immediately reports this to her supervisor, David, who starts to write a formal report on the situation. His work is interrupted by Jonathon's parents, who storm into Alex's practice and demand that she be held accountable for having a sexual relationship with their son.

Soon, word gets out to the public and media about Alex and Jonathon's affair. Jonathon claims that it wasn't merely a one night stand but a three-month affair where Alex pursued him incessantly. He claims he was victimized and plans to write a book about his experiences. Alex is persecuted and burned at the stake in social media. She loses weight, loses friends, and nearly loses her practice.

Who is telling the truth? Why would Jonathon lie about the affair? What's in it for him? Is Alex delusional?

This story dives headfirst into the terrifying consequences of an affair in a social media-saturated world. What once may have been dealt with behind closed doors or between a few families is now a social media event. This has serious consequences for all the parties involved in this rollercoaster ride of a book.

What I especially enjoyed about this book is that it told the story from multiple perspectives. Alex and Rob's affairs had a ripple effect on the people around them. Would Alex, for instance, engaged in an affair if Rob hadn't admitted to having one before she left for Ibiza? How does the affair affect the parents, friends, and partners of those involved? I also felt like I really understood every person touched by the affairs - the characters were fleshed out and had very sound reasons for feeling the way they did.

Thank you to the author, Lucy Dawson, the publisher, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of White Lies.

It's all go in suburbia! White Lies is quite the coil of unreliable narrators roiling on a sand dune in a wind storm. I kinda loved that about it. I won't be giving spoilers on this one and have to give points to being surprised about the big reveal at the end. Dr Alex Inglis definitely stands as a reminder that having a one off shag when you're away on a girls' trip is a epically titan bad idea. Having it with a teenager (even unbeknownst) only multiplies that by infinity and I don't even know if there's a word to describe that level of bad. Throw in a list of supporting characters who are all vying simultaneously for Most Self-serving or Most Self-conscious in a media setting and things really threaten to go off the rails entirely. There's some first class awful behavior on display and it was a challenge for me to apportion my sympathies out equally. And I just couldn't look away. There are several nods to current events circulating around sexual harassment and what that means and looks like through the kaleidoscope of media. It's not pretty.

By story's breath taking end, I was equal parts relieved, surprised and sad to see it was over. I promptly popped over to my online book outlet of choice and purchased a copy of another of the author's book's and then over to her website to sign up for her book club. While reading this it reminded me in pace of the programme, Doctor Foster. Not that Alex was channelling Gemma but just the level of adrenaline flowing through the story and the awful voyeuristic feeling that it's going to all come crashing down due to some serious manipulations and no one is going to get out unscathed. So if that's your thing, this may well be too. Definitely recommended.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

White Lies is yet another winner by Lucy Dawson. I was intrigued from the very first chapter, when something happens that creates a domino effect of sorts in the life of the protagonist, leading to a stunning conclusion.
I am definitely a character-driven reader and sometimes they feel a little formulaic in psychological thriller (or maybe I have been overdoing it with the genre...) but I am happy to report that Alexandra, the protagonist of White Lies, does not fall into this category. She is a rounded, well-developed person. I like how Dawson takes "normal" people with fairly ordinary lives and adds one element to unsettle them, which has a ripple effect and creates a gripping story. She has done so again here, and I couldn't wait to see how the story could be resolved. I am usually not the fastest reader of books on Kindle, but I had a hard time putting this down, even as my eyes were stinging. White Lies is a great read, especially if you are looking for a page turner to read as you enjoy the warmer weather (by the way, if you are experiencing an actual spring, where do you live and can I come?) Recommended!

White Lies is a fantastic psychological thriller that is a definite 5 stars for me.
The book is based around Dr Alexandra Inglis who is a doctor at the local practice and Johnathon Day a patient at the practice who is 17 years old and along with his parents is accusing Alex of basically forcing their son to have sex with her. This is a she said, she said kind of story and I think for this book it worked as each side told their version of events that to be honest left me wondering who was lying and who was telling the truth. The other characters that have their say in this is Alex's husband and Johnathon's girlfriend.
This thriller started at a right pace and didn't let up at anytime throughout the book, I loved how it made me swing from who was telling the truth and who was lying to then read another chapter and totally think the opposite. The ending I have to admit I didn't see coming and thought it was going to be a totally different person involved but thats due to the constant twists and being led up the garden path!!
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Alexandra Inglis is a respected family doctor, trusted by her patients to keep their most intimate secrets. And if sometimes the boundaries between duty and desire blur… well, she’s only human.

But when Alex oversteps a line with Jonathan, one of her patients, she knows she’s gone too far. Jonathan is obsessive, and to get what he wants he will tear Alex’s world apart – threatening not only her career but her marriage and family too.

Soon Alex finds she’s capable of doing almost anything to keep hold of her perfect life, as it begins to spin dangerously out of her control…

A darkly gripping domestic drama of secrets and lies, from the bestselling author of The Daughter. Perfect for fans of Big Little Lies, Louise Jensen and The Couple Next Door.

Lucy Dawson has blown my mind with this one! In White Lies she creates a web of twist and turns in such a dark and gripping thriller. White Lies is a book about a doctor who would do anything to keep her perfect world. A story so unbelievable, but so close to real life that it is perceivable. The possibility that it could actually happen may be the most terrifying thing of all. Lucy Dawson has created a fluid and real world with unexpected secrets and decisions that will leave you shocked and in disbelief. This was a major book hangover and all I could say was… WOW!
Lucy Dawson’s White Lies is a must read.

A riveting roller coaster of a book full of uncertainty about who is telling the truth and who is lying.

The story starts with a well-respected GP, Alex, with a husband and young children sleeping with a good-looking 17 year old, Jonathan, on a drunken night out in Ibiza. From there on the book alternates between Alex and Jonathan’s points of view of what happened both before and after the one night stand, which muddies the waters so much you don’t know who to believe.

I felt a little let down by the ending, but over all I enjoyed it and would have no hesitation in recommending it. It’s a well-written book with a clever plot and so many twists and turns your head will be spinning. Lucy Dawson fans will not be disappointed.

Omg,I feel soooo disappointed, not because I didn't enjoy any part of this twist packed, intense adrenaline ride.Nope,I absolutely loved every chapter, page, paragraph, sentence and word. The simple truth is,I didn't want this story of secrets, lies and manipulation to end.

Dr Alexandria Inglis has gone on a girl's weekend away to Ibiza to try and forget,at least for a couple of days her problems at home. Her Husband Rob recently admitted that he had a one night stand with his work colleague who just happens to be much younger and prettier than Alex. The plan was to try and have some fun, have a few drinks and a good laugh. It definitely wasn't a part of the plan for Alex to get paralytic and have a one night stand with Jonathan.A young man who turns out to be only seventeen and just happens to be a patient of Alex`s at the surgery where she works back home.

This is essentially a he said/she said story that consists of three parts and a epilogue. The chapters in the first part mainly alternate between Alex and Jonathan but also include a couple of chapters that are told from the point of view of Alex`s partner at the doctors surgery,Dr David Harper. The second part is voiced by Alex`s husband Rob and Jonathan`s girlfriend Cherry.Reading their thoughts and feelings about the people involved and the events as they unfolded around them added realism and depth to their characters. They weren't just secondary characters who hung about in the background and added nothing to the story.Throughout the whole book I was constantly changing my mind about who's version was the truth.Even now because the author has left that open to the readers discretion,I still have absolutely no idea who was telling the truth.I can't say I found any of the main characters very likeable,I would have felt more sympathy for Rob if he hadn't cheated on Alex.As in real life Alex soon discovers the sad fact that in modern society a person's life and reputation can be so easily destroyed by people on the internet,tv and the press. If it means you get more likes and comments, the ratings for your show shoot up or you sell loads more papers then who cares about the truth or the consequences and how it affects someone else's life.

I was hooked in by this absolutely brilliant, gripping thriller from the first page right through to.the totally unexpected conclusion.Highly recommended, worth far more than five stars and most definitely going to be on my list of my favourite books of this year.

What a breath of fresh air after my dreary book funk!

With a great writing style, I already knew from reading the first three pages that this was going to be an addictive read. And boy, were my instincts right about this one!

The book starts off with a bang with Dr Alex Inglis waking up with one hell of a hangover, with a very good looking young man sleeping beside her after an eventful night in the bedroom. This is not exactly what she had planned for her girls' Ibiza weekend away...after all, she's a married mother of two. What was she thinking?!

What a surprise then, when Alex returns home to the UK, that she discovers her young lover turns out to be a 17 year old patient! Intriguing, isn't it?

And so begins a He Said, She Said scenario as we hear from the 17 year old Jonathan, his parents, his girlfriend and Alex 's husband. The varying yet totally believable viewpoints grips you with doubt as the reader is led to question who is telling the truth and who is twisting it with lies.

This all consuming story had me desperate to discover where it would lead, excitedly looking forward to an ending that would justify the anticipation the author had built up within me. The subsequent, brain twisting conclusion did not disappoint, having played with my mind and left me thinking of this unputdownable story long after I finished reading it.

This is my first read by Lucy Dawson, and I eagerly look forward to reading more of her gripping work.

Many thanks to the author, Netgalley and Bookouture for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Excellent book, that'll have you spinning for days and wondering what exactly and who exactly is being truthful! The way it was written is exciting and keeps you flipping through to find more. I think it was a great thriller, especially when my brain continued to ponder why, who, what?? Recommend!

Doctor Alexandra Inglis’ marriage is in trouble. Her husband recently admitting to cheating on her at the breakfast table.

Alex (Al) is distraught but ultimately wants to make her marriage work for the sake of her two children. A one night stand with a stranger in Ibiza should be enough to hurt her husband, make them equal, and allow them both to move on.

If only it were that simple...

Jonathan Day isn’t actually a stranger.

He is a patient that Alex does not remember treating. But that isn’t where the complications end, and for Alex the nightmare is only just about to begin.

White Lies is one of those novels which is difficult to review without giving anything away.

I love the way that this novel is written, from the points of view of several of the main characters, because you are never entirely sure who you should be trusting.

I continued to be surprised right until the end.

White Lies is a psychological thriller with a difference. Read it and I promise you will not be disappointed!

5 Big Brilliant Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lucy Dawson did it again! She took me on another crazy emotional rollercoaster ride that I wanted to stay on until the very end.... this book kept me up until 2:00 in the morning and left my head spinning.... and truth be told I still don’t know what really happened, but I think that is the beauty of it.... there are three sides to the story... his side... her side... and the truth....

This is a definite he said she said story.... and the way it was told was simply brilliant.... first we get Alex‘s point of view... Alex really isn’t the most likable of characters.... she was on a girls trip to Ibiza... had a lot too much to drink and woke up in bed with a guy and really no memory of the night.... now the kicker is he is a patient of hers and he is 17...... so even if hubby is OK with this there is going to be fall out.... yes Alex is married and a doctor and the mother of two young daughters.... so in the beginning of this book I’m thinking wow what bad luck, not that I condone cheating, but.....

Then we get Jonathan‘s point of view the 17-year-old.... now I have a 15-year-old and a 21-year-old son so this probably influences how I look at this....ick.... so is Jonathan a crazy stalker or the victim? Things start coming out and I was lead in one direction and then in a different direction and it was quite the journey.... along with Alex and Jonathan‘s point of view we got the points of view of several other characters just to add to the craziness.... i’m not sure if anybody was a very reliable narrator....

Along with all the twists and turns this book touched on a few very relevant issues... of course there is the obvious one... Sexual harassment and people in power abusing it.... but I really thought more interestingly the book really touched on social media and the power of the like.... I have to admit it was a bit disconcerting to see someone achieve fame for being a victim, maybe? For me it made Jonathan story less believable... it’s just quite amazing how much social media has altered and dictates our lives....

Absolutely without a doubt recommend to all fans of psychological thrillers with brilliant twists....

*** thank you so much too Bookouture and Net Galley for a copy of this brilliant book ***

A quality read I got lost in. Just what I was looking for

White Lies by Lucy Dawson is one of those rare gems that really does live up to it’s tag line of being a gripping psychological thriller with an absolutely brilliant twist. I’m filing this one in my what the heck did I just read folder.

The story starts a reader off by introducing Alexandra Inglis who is apparently waking up to a one night stand after a drunken night out with her girlfriends in Ibiza. This probably wouldn’t be a problem if Alex was single and wild and free but she’s actually a married doctor and mother of two. The problem though was her husband went down the cheating route first and in her drunken state this was her payback.

However, as we all know the story isn’t going to end with Alex slinking home and confessing her revenge lay. No, before Alex knows it she finds out that her mysterious man is actually a seventeen year old patient and so begins the story of her life slowly falling apart.

Having read another title by Lucy Dawson I already knew she was a great author that could spin an amazing tale to keep a readers attention but I wasn’t prepared for what I found in White Lies. The style in which the story is written is even a unique way to peel back the layers of the plot.

We start with Alex’s point of view but slowly it changes as the story goes on giving depth to the plot and keeping a reader guessing. This one is the type of story that once you think you know what is happening the author does an about face and totally changes everything to really make one’s head spin. And yes, in the end I would say it was an absolutely brilliant twist. Definitely recommend this one to the psychological thriller fans out there.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Dates read 4/19-4/20

Thank you Net Gallery and Bookouture for allowing me to review White Lies by Lucy Dawson.

The book starts out with Alex (a doctor) waking up to a strange man next to her. A drunken mistake one night while on holiday. She inadvertently sleeps with one of her patients, Jonathan. Then soon finds out he's only 17, still in high school. Alex soon asks Jonathan to leave hotel room which soon he spirals out of control. Jonathan becomes obsessed with Alex.

Back from holiday, Alex confesses to her husband Rob, I'm saying out loud no, no, no. I expect a lot of fighting, divorce, etc. Then we find out Rob cheated before with coworker younger than his wife. Then when Jonathan returns to the picture he is totally obsessed with Alex, lying in wait, showing up here and there. Alex feels like she's being watched and the feeling is real. Soon everything explodes and Alex's life is going out of control. Jonathan lies and soon Alex finds herself without employment due to Jonathan's accusations. She should of just denied affair but this wouldn't be a book then huh?
I like the characters and felt sorry for some. I like how the author did the different point of views, keeps you guessing who is telling the truth and who do you trust. Great ending. I was afraid it would be awesome throughout the book and fall flat but it didn't. I was drawn in from the first to last page and read past midnight and didn't stop, chewing my nails. This book will keep you reading till the unbelievable end.
I recommend this 100%, talk about patient/doctor confidentially.

This book captivated me from the start. The books opens with Dr. Alex waking up in a hotel room with a massive hangover and a sexy guy in her bed! #WTH??? How does a married woman with two kids and up here?!? Well, you MUST-READ the book to find out!!!!!

I like that the author provided a female outlook of the effects of an affair on a marriage. The book is dark but it touches on so many relevant topics of today, for example, mental health, social media, and just plain ole revenge.

I had so many theories of how the book was going to end, which happened to be totally wrong!?! I promise, you will not be sorry for reading this book!!!
